I love the body and the wings of the montre. It's a nice update but the face....It must be the angle that I dislike. : otherwise DO LOVE THE WINGS.

I completely agree with what Color, Tiara, and some other users have said. Wonderful job on the coloring of the Montre, the artist obviously has talent there, but the changes in the anatomy have completely changed the original feel and look of the pet. But I guess that's what overlays and Firefox addons are for. While I wish my DM Montre could have the beautiful new coloring of the new I would never trade in her personality. I bet the new artist for the montre is completely fantastic and has done other wonderful artwork on the site but I hope they take into consideration the many critiques on the anatomy and personality that many users have made on our future Montres. I have several, and while I want them to look beautiful I also want them to still be them. Good luck to the artist and hang in there!

Haha, I like how this gets so much attention because of the montre. If it was a revamp of the, say, DarkMatter Serpenth instead of the DarkMatter Montre, I'd bet there'd be a good less amount of attention here.

On that note, everybody who's bawwing about things looking weird needs to hush. You should all at least be happy that the artists go ahead and put work into pets for all of you, and if you don't like the new look, then just get an overlay with the old image. I swear, this happens every time a popular pet species get a color revamp. xD;

Oof... really, really dislike the Montre. Looks terrible imo, way too cartoony. The last one was so sleek and powerful. Think you can consider making options so people could choose which version of a pet a person has appear on the site? Anyway, glad I got rid of mine last year, this would be heartbreaking if I had one I bonded with...

I prefer the old DM Montre as well. Mainly because of the eyes / head and the wings, they looked more dark-ish to me.

The head looks a little big on the montre...and the two toes on each back foot looks kind of strange, but besides that everything else is cool.

I really like both of them. While the montre was a long time coming I have to say that the dragarth is the bigger improvement, it actually makes me want one!!

I actually love both of these. This montre is a HUGE improvement, imo. The art fits better with the more current Subeta art, it's less stylized sure, but overall it looks so much nicer to me. The feathery wings are just beautiful. I don't have any Dark Matter pets, but this is probably one I could consider getting. The dragarth is wonderful too, I love the way it seems focused on the dark matter floating by it. And as for certain people bawww'ing about the montre- it's funny how worked up some people can get over a MINOR inconvenience on an INTERNET SITE that is FREE FOR OUR USE. People feel like they are so entitled to everything, there is no point in insulting the artist's work. I wouldn't want to draw for anyone anymore if this is the response I got.

Thank you to those that posted the old images for comparison. I think both new redraws look rather awesome! If I were to pick it apart, I think I like the wings and tail of the old version of the montre, but they might look funny on the new version. Kudos to the artists!

I whole-heartedly agree with Color's post about the Montre. I've owned a DM Montre for over four years. Borderline was my first coloured pet on the site and until now the DM Montre has still been one of the greatest pets on the site in my opinion. It's simply stunning. However, I will most likely change my beloved pet into something else now. I'm sorry, but I really, really dislike the new version for the same reasons Color mentioned as well as for the obvious anatomy issues.

Well, I'm going to give my two cents regarding the Darkmatter Montre. I'm not trying to bash the artist or anything, so if I come off as mean, I apologize in advance. I'm just trying to critic the art itself, and help the artist improve.

For starters, the anatomy is very wrong; The back legs are too short, and it bothers me that only two toes are visible on each back leg. At least on the left leg, three toes should be visible. The front legs are way too long in comparison to the back legs, and the way they're bent is not right, at all (shoulder blades should't be that curved). The chest seems to be deflated, like there is only fur there, and not muscle. The head is too big, and the body too short. The head shape overall is just wrong; the ears appear to be attached at the back of it's head, and not the top, the muzzle is bent too low, the eyes are not lineal, and the cheeks fur strikes me as fake, I don't know why. The wings are also bent awkwardly, they shouldn't be pointing down, but to the sides of the Montre. The tail is also too swirly, I don't know if that's a Montre trait, but it just doesn't seem right.

The shading is beautiful, though. The main issue with this pet is the anatomy, which has a lot of mistakes. I'll be willing to red-line the art, if the artist lets me.

On a side note, one thing that has always bothered me about Montres, (and pretty much the reason I'll never create one, nor do I like them) is the shape of the paws and the head. The paws are too short; the toes start too soon. Their muzzles are also off, and too small on their faces. I would like to see an improvement (anatomically) in the species overall, but I guess that just might upset all the Montre fanboys/girls out there... sigh

I can't build a building, but that shouldn't make me unqualified to say 'the roof looks like its about to cave in someone should fix that' as the beams are splitting apart above us. Sometimes people who are not capable of doing something themselves actually have the best insight into what could be fixed about it. Perhaps they think a different way, or perhaps they've tried and are just unable, but have all this knowledge of how it works in order to be able to critique and help with it. There were only a small handful of really non-critique, rude comments. The way you flew off the handle made it seem like everyone had said it, when in actuality I could probably count the number on one hand.

The montre and dragarth are clearly a massive improvement on the old ones, kudos to the artist(s) (: I think the body shape, pose and wings on both are amazing, although the head position on both feels awkward and uncomfortable for me.

I like both of the revamps. The art is much better and higher in quality. It just seems that they've lost their old expression. I like how the Dragarth looked miffed and the Montre looked proud (imo). Though their expressions are great now. They look more like themselves. I guess users are just going to miss the feeling they gave off before. I wont mind seeing this Montre around the site (mine is my battle pet) though I will miss how he looked.

Mine took FOREVER to update. It was new in the news post but old everywhere else. XDD

I surely love the new dagarth better but the montre... I am not that sure. I like the little ideas in it with wing covering a tail a bit but the old one looked more elegant and more like the pose were more unique and interesting. Maybe the dynamism? Can't put my finger on it somehow. Surely the dark matter sprites looking better but the pose and toning not wins much my likes, sorry. :C

But I surely love the dagarth better more refined, clean and detailed and a bit more sharpen too. I like that one C:

Well if that is how you perceived it, that is fine. I know the point I was trying to get across and it seems like MOST people understood what I was trying to say. I was just sick of people "bashing" the artists when they probably can't do much better. Also, when I said "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all." I meant don't go out of your own way to say something is so terrible you can't stand to have your pet look like it anymore. I never meant opinions, or critiques.

: Your 'telling' was essentially equivalent to ordering. Ever heard of 'telling off'? You're essentially trying to order someone into backing off. You can change the words around all you want, but they're synonymous so the point is moot. As for your suggestion. If you want to call it that, that's fine. But a forceful suggestion is pretty much an order in and of itself. If I was threatening to throw an elephant at you then 'suggesting' that you give me your bank information (as a silly example, but the point remains), you might be much more persuaded toward it. It's essentially an order.

I have to say, I am not really happy about the Montre update. It looks a lot softer and bulkier than the old one, which I don't like because the reason why I loved darkmatter Montres so much was the thin, elegant look. This one reminds me more of a Kumos, body-wise. And the face has lost a lot of it's dark, brooding look and now seems softer and kinder, almost worried looking to me. I will admit that the wings are -much- better, and so is the shading, but I'm sad the feeling of the old Montre got lost, which was the reason I adopted one in the first place.

It's not bad art, far from that. It's just not what I like for my Montre.

I know the difference, but I assume most users don't seem to get what exactly bashing is. Just because somebody is stating that the new artwork is ugly, isn't bashing the artist already. It might hurt the artist, but it should be obvious that it's impossible to please everyone. And instead of saying how disrespectul some comments are, you should teach these users how to give feedback properly. They probably don't know any better.

I hardly see any -useful- critism (positive and negative) in comments ever, so it always annoys the heck out of me when users who praise the artworks like they are godly will badmouth the users who simply state that they don't like it at all or hate it.

I might agree with you that some comments sound harsh or are not necessary, I am just saying that telling these users off is pointless in a way because they don't know how to properly critize, but will keep commenting anyway when something doesn't please them enough.

In that first post I was telling that person to be respectful because what he/she said was VERY disrespectful. The second post i was suggesting that people go on their merry ways with their overlays because they shouldn't bash the artist out in the open. I was not ordering anyone to do anything because that would be ridiculous. i know I sure as hell wouldn't listen to someone who just ordered me to clean my room over the internet.

HUGE improvement on the dragarth! And the montre definitely needed some spiffing up too, though I do think he lost something. Something able the facial expression has changed slightly. From arrogant and condemning to questioning or uncertainty is how I see it, but that might just be me. I do like the wings though, they look more wing-like, rather than a bunch of fluffy furish stuff in the shape of a wing (:

Wow, some people have said some really rude things here, honestly. :c It's really sad... I mean, opinions are great! I just wish that people wouldn't be so harsh in a public place, really. D: The artists must be so proud of their work. Regardless of how many people like their art, it must hurt to read negative comments anyway... I personally think that both the Montre and Dragarth revamps are gorgeous! They were both great before, but it's nice to see them with the updated look. I love how smooth the art is. The wings on the Montre, in particular, are beautiful. Now I'm going to have to consider getting one or the other, because I really love them both. Nice job to the artists~

I don't believe it is bashing to say that you don't like it, its just being honest. The art itself is nice, and you can tell a lot of work was put into it which is always appreciated. But just because someone worked hard on it and the art is fine doesn't mean that it is to my liking. I said i was changing it now which i did, it doesn't mean i am being rude by changing my pet it just means that there are now other pets that i like more than the revamped Montre.
