Yeah I think so. I may do more work around the roses on the sides of the swing, but under the swing itself, just the border, fabric and rocks... I won't be afriad to spray weed killer on the rocks/grass under the swing at that point, as long as I stay away from the roses. I will get to that part - Eventually! I need a new swing too. Shane and some girl broke it years ago, Ryan patched it for me, Shane promised to buy me a new one, and hasn't - he says he's going to this year - well. We will see. If he hasn't gotten me one between Mothers Day and my birthday in June - I might just buy it myself after my birthday!!
Its CHILLY out today. It should warm up after lunch so hopefully I can do more yard work then for the rose area. I am taking Belle (my dog) to get weighed for flea control meds today at the pop up clinic though, so yard will have to wait until I am home from that (it begins at 1230, so I'll leave my house around 12 to go to it)
Did a pancake and sausage breakfast fundraiser after church for Lilys Dublin trip today.. raised at least $592! (that was cash, though there were some online donations too).
And then.. IT STARTED TO SNOW. I'm so annoyed. It was 90 two and three days ago LOL.
Yummm pancakes and sausage. I could do that. i have sausage. We like bacon too tho...I don't have bacon. I just bought eggs today. Hmmm maybe one day this week.
oh no!! SNOW!! its April!! :P
I got more work done on the rose bed area by the house. Realized I need way more rock and top soil - because I didn't feel like digging anymore to make the border lower. Ugh.
I got the 6 month supply of flea control - cost me almost $200! Sheeeesh. At least it will last me. i don't always give it to her in winter, so I may not need it again until next spring!!
Pancakes and sausage does sound tasty! Now I have a craving, haha :D
A lot of back and forth weather wise feels like proper April weather to me, April showers bring May flowers... April snow brings May glow? I struggled trying to find a weather-related rhyme there!
Oof Kat that flea control definitely was expensive! But yes, worth it, especially if it lasts a while. How's it going with the rosebeds?
Oh dear haha! That sounds nice though, glad it's turning out like you wanted :D
Kat, they're GORGEOUS now though! I love the look!
Guys it's basically cold af I'm frozen solid it's like 30 degrees I am angry haha.
It looks so great Kat!
How's everyone doing? How's life, what's going on?
Now that it's not snowing, I'm actually much more interested in everyone else again sweat smile thingy because I don't know how to do it
I love the roses! 🌹 & good morning from Europe!
Vesnali happening this week according to Subeta news woohoo 🎉 I'm excited!
Yesterday felt like such a full and busy day, and today... I still need to make my way through some administrative tasks on top of working. Bleh! But I got some done yesterday at least. Been procrastinating calling the bank about a safety deposit so that is top of the list today.
Mieke the rainbow theme on your HA is so cute! I love the swooshy rainbow skirt 🤩
Same old same old for me. I am done with college classwork (I even turned in my PLP - the final assignment yesterday). Waiting on that and one other assignment to be graded. And to graduate. So I'm just logging hours this week, and whatever days next week are allowed. And then waiting for graduation. I need to see if I can get the wrinkles out of my graduation gown but I'm not too worried over it. I've had it hanging up and thought they'd fall out from being folded and shipped, but nope. I don't have a steamer. Thought about hanging it in the bathroom next time I shower and see if that helps.
I plan to work on the roses around the swing next - just to redo the bricks and pull the grass up/out from around them, and add more potting soil since I have some left over. My hands have been really achey the last few days though, not sure if thats something else, or if its from all the yard work. Kind of like cramps/tightness but also just kind of like soreness. They're feeling a little better this morning, at the moment. So not sure when I'll do the other roses. By this weekend tho, since I want to get it done too.
Yes! Vesnali soon!! I cracked up on the comment one person made though - "ugh Subeta Soon? Just start now" or something like that. I totally agree. I do like warnings, but "soon" means so many different things. I don't even like "this week" as a time frame, because I just prefer a more precise date. I get that they can't really do that though.
Oooh yes, and the kindergarten "grade level chair" (basically the one who attends a bunch of meetings so EVERYONE doesn't have to, for each grade level) came in the other day to talk to me about coming in a few extra days. She cracked me up "Christian (my last name). I've made an executive decision. Yes. I do that. We are going to come in on Saturdays, maybe in June, to do some planning, You good with that?" LOL Then got back to me that one of the other kinder teachers can't do June, so we're going to do it Friday/Saturday in May after post-planning and maybe another Sat in May before that. I'm like, whatever, as long as I can make sure Nathan gets the car and gets to work on time. We will get paid extra for coming in those days, because that is something the principal offered to use some of the excess $ he has to spend before the end of June on. Paying for extra planning days. And then I have signed up for a day in June for Leader in Me training (a program the school uses, kind of like PBIS but different-and I get paid for that day too). AND I've been told I will have a week long training sometime in the summer for OG (phonics) as well. (No idea if I get paid for that one). Phew.
Oooh and another thing. Yesterday our PreK Director and the BFTS Director came for the spring visit, and the PreK director knew I'd been hired as a K teacher (from the board meeting minutes) and she was sooo excited for me. So that was nice to chat about with them for a minute. And the overall visit went well as far as I could tell. (they check out how we are teaching/interacting with the students, look around the room to make sure we still have all the supplies/materials out for the kids, display kids work, stuff like that)
It's Friday! Yay!
Kat congratulations on finishing the coursework, that's already an achievement. Are you gonna dress up your HA in a graduation gown too? Subeta even has them in different colors haha :D
Also damn, sorry to hear your hands are giving you grief! Are they feeling better now? Hopefully it's nothing serious or lasting, and you can still work on the roses.
I've been mostly focusing on work, so I'm glad for the weekend. Vesnali MUST start on Saturday or Sunday... with how busy I was this week, I'm not mad about it not having started earlier, I couldn't have participated much anyways! But then I'm not sure next week will really be better there hah. Well, we will see. I tried to put the flower prompt into my signature for this event... this post is me checking if it works! :D
It seems to come and go, with my hands, but overall, I think they're feeling better. I did work on the other set of roses (by the swing) last night. Now I've decided to buy two more bags of rocks to top them off and they'll be done too.
I might dress my HA up for the day for graduation :) I haven't really decided. My cap and gown are black. My tassel is blue. I'm disappointed by that. I wanted Mercer colors (orange and black/gray - We are the bears!), but got Tift colors (which makes sense but isn't what I wanted!). I'm so seriously debating contacting Herff Jones to see if they can special order two tassels for me. I never got one for my associates, and I want one in MY school colors, not my degree colors, if that makes sense? I mean, I know I attended the "tift college of education" THROUGH Mercer. I just want MERCER colors for my display. :P I'm picky I guess.
I want them to start Vesnali TODAY! But yeah, it will probably be Saturday or Sunday.....which I know for you is actually a bit ahead of us here on USA/subeta time zones.
Ope, still no Vesnali - Sunday then! If it's not Sunday I will be disappointed haha :P but the feeling does remind me of waiting for Survival, that also seemed to not want to arrive until it did.
Call them, for the tassel! I think you should at least try to get the one you want, this way you won't regret it. And fingers crossed that they can give you the Mercer colors without fuss!
Happy Saturday all!
Ehhh well Berry, is only 9 am here - so it might still be "today" for subeta. They usually start it in the afternoon/evening - I swear, even tho subeta (the site) is on eastern time, I personally think all the employees live in California or something hahahah :P They seem to be on a later time zone anyway. (Either that or they are all night owls and only awake later in the day? Like my bratling son).
I've got the roses around the swing finalized. I put the stone in this morning on top of just the rose beds. Going to talk to Shane about buying the swing, since I've been doing all this I really want it replaced. I might just buy it myself w/o waiting on him, and expect him to cover the cost later if he doesn't just pay for it this weekend. I found one I like for only $100 (plus taxes) which is what the original one cost anyway, and this one is already painted or stained "black" so it will match the trim of the house too! :P If I order it today I can pick it up by Wednesday at the store so no shipping costs (one shipping was $20 and another swing the shipping was $30!!) Sheesh.
I looked up the "official colors" of the two schools online, I can't think it'd be hard to do hahah SCTC is green/gold and Mercer is orange/black. Surely a graduation company can do those colors. I just hope they can also still do the '23 for the SCTC tassel. If not, the colors will have to be enough. That is another thing I didn't like. I liked that the High School tassels all showed the year of graduation. My Mercer tassel has a charm that has "tift college of education" on it. No year. Ugh.
I'd definitely reach out and try, Kat!
if not.. honestly, try ebay or something like that?
Inspired by Kat, I finally did something about my firepit. It's been piled on top of bricks for the past.. 15 years. But the weeds were growing in between, the bricks were getting knocked down, etc. I hated weedwhacking near it.
So I spent $40 and bought 4 flagstones (that Adam had to go pick up.. I do enjoy LIly having boyfriends, I guess :P)
I cleaned the bricks and stones up yesterday, and then... couldn't move the flagstones. But that's OK, because everything is always more of a project that I expect.. so Alex got home and dug it out a bit more so the stones would lay flat. Best news is, I found 100 pounds of playground sand in the sunroom when I was cleaning it out a few weeks ago, and he needed sand for the stones.. I was like WAIT, I"VE GOT IT! .. though of course, he had to do that part, too.
Anyway! Now everything is ncie and flat and even and I'm very happuy with it :P
Wonderful to get inspiration from your friends like that :D sounds like a good thing you did for yourself there, Mieke!
And a new black swing sounds fun too! I love a swing. Growing up my dad put up a swingset for us at the back of the house. That was really cool. But unfortunately that swingset doesn't exist anymore, so even visiting my dad now, who still lives in that house, no swinging for me there haha :P
I see, in Subeta time it's not afternoon or evening yet. So maybe still Vesnali today, but if it's gonna be in Subeta evening, I better not be awake for the start haha :D
Yaaay for fixing up your firepit Mieke :) Its nice to accomplish things.
Aww Berry, no swings for you. Sad. I usually don't get out to the swing too often. Its either too hot or too cold for me. I'm not a huge outdoor person I guess hahaha. But I do love swings. I just went ahead and ordered it. I decided NOT to wait on Shane. He called me a while ago babbling about how he has more packages coming and he wants to buy a new mattress and yadda yadda yadda. I'm so tired of him spending $ before repaying me or replacing the swing. I give up on the swing. He can add it to the repayment plan which he hardly pays anything on sigh
And now I feel like I need to lock up my debit and credit cards giggles I've spent too much lately. The only bright side is that I've had extra $ and thats why I went ahead and spent. Like I got the tax return $ and then I the bonus government money for teachers from the state governor and I got the bit leftover from the mortgage loan AND I don't have to pay the mortgage in May at all - so that was all extra $. And I didn't go to the RenFaire like normal, so I kind of like, feel I am spending my RenFaire money on sprucing up my yard ? LOL If that makes sense.
I think all the math checks out there tbh Kat! And yay for a new swing! I love me a garden swing.. or glider. Or both :P
... I actually have both, though my swing is second hand and so it's one with two seats and a table in the middle, and I'd much rather one I could spread out on instead of having to sit upright.. mostly because I like to just sit and read out there.
I also have a round rope swing that I lay on like.. pretty much daily when it's nice out. It may also help that that one is hanging under the porch so out of the sun...
