I get the idea that the card game's "skeleton" is what would be used to transfer the battle system over to the new site as well as make it "more interesting", but we like it as it is and that's why we've stuck with it. I would advise just transferring over everything about the battle system in its current state--in modern written code--then after some time, propose changes.
But it would be preferred if you ask what we would like to see done with battling before proposing any changes. We have our own ideas or things we'd like to see improved upon (for example, I'd like to see minor updates to the UI to where you can hover over curse and blessing icons and it tells you their name and if they're a curse or blessing; that'd be useful for any battler!). There's also problems that haven't been addressed, such as mod crystals breaking ( you can explain this better than I can).

<p>Also, one of the biggest complaints from casual battlers is that the current system is too complicated. I&;m not sure dialing the complexity up is going make battling more appealing to them. Keeping the card game separate to cater to different game preferences or a way to bring in new players could work.

I don't think that complicating the BD system is going to bring in new players, if anything it'll lose some.
Stuff like this is kinda worrying when you have X amount of people saying that they don't want it, would it go ahead anyway?
Personally for me I kinda don't wanna bother putting any more money into something that might end up just completely not what I'm in to at some point (strategy/card games).

I think they mean Battle Colosseum (BC). Either they came from Neo with Battledome (BD) and didn't update their lingo or I think there are/were some old places on this site that use/ed the wrong name.
