I would hope it's not going to replace battling. That'd be silly. all I can say is it's just something else for people to complain about as another unfinished new feature.

late to the party but turning battling into a card-like game would absolutely kill any interest i have in it rn asking the card collectors or smth might be a better place

I don’t think Keith meant the card thing was going to replace battling. I think he just meant that our community would be best at testing it since strategy is something that is prevalent in battling and the card thingy.
I just would rather see resources spent on battle instead of a new card game - because I like battling and want to do more of it.

haha, not discouraged—i just don’t think i explained the crossover well enough or why it’s so important to get feedback from this group.
both are systems where an npc (or another player in multiplayer) takes turns making strategic choices. each move involves selecting a minion (or weapon), magic card (or spell), or trap card (battle equivalent tbd) with ongoing effects. you build a deck of the best options to counter your opponent and tweak it based on how that opponent is coded.
the real kicker: each opponent gets custom coding. this isn’t “pick a random weapon from the list” (aka how most opponents work now) or basic preferences like “always choose X.” instead, the system asks: “based on your aggression factor, do you lean toward fast plays with small cards or a slower, big build-up? given this hand, is a magic card or trap card the better play?”
if we bring that level of strategy and decision-making into the battle system, it would massively level up the experience—no more completely random moves.
these systems overlap a ton, which means this project lets me build the foundation for a revamped battle system without touching the current one until everything’s ready. it’s a win-win.

Is the TCG going to get expansions and the likes.
Like, is it something that is gonna expand, because this is where the real interest is.
New booster packs and new expansions is where you'll attract players.
But i like how our battle system is as is. =(

In my world K.I.S.S. is a real thing. I can't say I would be interested in working this into the battle system. Even though I enjoy CWs it is the battling that has kept me here forever.
I know there are some that think the battling system needs an overhaul, but this isn't playstation or Xbox or any other gaming place. This is Subeta and I enjoy the more relaxed feel.
It really does make me sad to think of no longer coming here. I just figured I would be here as long as Subeta was here, I am sure my hubby would be happy with all the money I would save though, but what does he know!
This house has PS3-5, VR2. Xbox's and so on, but all I want is my relaxing Subeta. Please don't take our battling away and change it into something else. :(
My builds would probably destroyed if the opponent AI got smarter. I run wacky builds, such as Okkoto who has horrible HPs but great Str and Def. And then Leon is my no-scroll pet. They're challenging but fun!

Agreed. I like battling how it is. I don’t think it needs “fixed” or “leveled up”. It’s not broken.I don’t think changing it will draw in any new members to want to battle - only push away the people who already battle.

I'm with the other battlers that have already posted. I like the current relaxed system. If I wanted intensive strategy there are a ton of games that already provide that. I think the simpler batting system suites Subeta's nostalgic vibe.
Also, one of the biggest complaints from casual battlers is that the current system is too complicated. I'm not sure dialing the complexity up is going make battling more appealing to them. Keeping the card game separate to cater to different game preferences or a way to bring in new players could work.
