I'll make sure those things get into the hover for sure -- you're saying that you want them to be listed on the search page as well. Would you want to filter on those things (e.g. be able to only show books, or toys, etc) or just have them shown?

That link you posted looks like a great lax (relaxed?) search. Not sure if it could be tightened up by having a search exact word/phrase like just Fred? Is it easy for the legacy names to have a different colored box or name or highlight around them? Or is that going through each pet to add that?

I think TC was specifically suggesting that you be able to toggle between a lax search and a specific search.
For instance, one setting, you could type in "Rav" and receive all the pet names with "rav" in there, from Aravel to Zaravan. Another setting where you could type in "Ravage" to see how many Ravages there are but not be annoyed by "Ravager" (one is a sapient metal cat, the other is a Guardians of the Galaxy character).

This isn't necessarily a problem for universal search, but if there are going to be autosuggestions, can we please be able to scroll through ALL potential suggestions? The shop search drives me nuts!

Oh, being able to filter for those attributes would be awesome!
I suggested them listed on the page (instead of in the hover) is that having to hover over each item individually is a bit tedious. It's fine if you do it for this item or that, e.g. in your inventory, but not for pages of search results.
Also if the connection is not great, the hover can take forever to show or not load at all.
Also rarity should definitely be included.
Maybe even if I own this item?
Will there be some search operators like * (wildcard), "" (exact phrase), AND, OR etc?
MAN I would LOVE to see if an item is something I already own. This would be so useful in a hover info panel the items have. :C But also like seeing the item's function the way you described. Maybe even an icon for collectibles.
