Nah, I couldn't support this. There are just still many items, part of collections, that are only in a few shops at a time and it's not fair to be blocked from purchasing those items from a user's shop. Just because there's a thread to request items back in circulation, doesn't mean that problem is currently fixed. Amber does an excellent job at bringing stuff back, but with the massive amounts of items on site, I feel it's always going to be a chase. She can only bring back so many at a time. Bottlenecking that problem further by blocking people from user shops isn't going to help.

I also believe everyone should have access to the same shops when questing. What if only one user is selling a holiday item in Quentin's price range, and everyone else's is 100k plus. (This happens frequently with Quentin) So that one user that has the item for Quentin has blocked you, so you can only purchase the 100k item or quit the quest. Yea, that does also happen when someone buys the last item for that price and Quentin hasn't caught up to the price yet, but I can see that issue growing.

The auto price issue is something that needs to be handled on its own and has its own threads for suggestions on fixing it. I don't think blocking users from your shop is going to make that issue go away. They'll still cut low and even if they can't buy it from you, someone else might. Do you then block someone else just for purchasing that cheap item? It can get out of hand quickly. It could be easily abused by groups mass blocking and be another tool of harassment. If one person is blocked by a big portion of the remaining active players, that cuts a lot of shops out they can no longer access. Sometimes, one user might be selling out of all six available shops. So that one person blocks you and that's six shops you can't access. You may feel that's justified if you believe that person is the one behind the rigging, but really they should be reported and handled by staff. If there are bad actors cheating systems, staff should be taking care of that and preferably banning them entirely from the site.

I personally don't have anyone blocked and so far, no blocks on me. This wouldn't really affect me, but I don't want to see anyone lose access to parts of the site needed to play the game.

I'm just coming back to say this:

If your only argument against this is collections or what you can buy from someone... I don't even know where to begin with that other than nice red flag and that isn't normal.

I still support this. Because hey, I hope that being bullied/harassed/stalked online is something people here never have to experience. And the rules already basically make it clear about interactions with people you blocked, I think it just needs enforced/reworded.

There are plenty of other arguments against this. Such as this can be used to harass people. I'm more in favor of hiding the names altogether as a solution or making it say blocked user/generic user & numbers, but straight-up blocking the feature is killing a part of the site used for more than just collections.

User shops are involved in questing, buying weapons and gear for battling, getting holiday currency and items, buying items for fragging & RB, filling wardrobes, getting achievements, and yes, filling collections. As long as people can freely get blocked for some of the pettiest of reasons, it's too easy to use this as a form of harassment.

I'm just coming back to say this:

"I disagree with this because I wanna buy stuff" is as valid an argument as "I agree with this because I consider buying from a shop as interaction". Don't treat people and their opinions/viewpoints as inferior just because you don't agree with them, nor act as if your pettiness is more noble than my pettiness or as if anyone here has any power to decide what is normal or not.

Thanks.

As a reminder, please keep the discussion at hand about the suggestion itself. You are safe to voice your disagreement or agreement but no need to quote others or make remarks about those who don't agree with you and continue.

Some more thoughts I had. Our current numbers are small and I honestly believe that a large percentage of the remaining active users wouldn't abuse a system that blocked users from your shops. With our smaller user base though, it wouldn't take many bad actors grouped up to abuse something like that. User shops are such a prominent feature on the site that losing access could negatively affect user experience. Everyone's reason to block someone on this site is valid, but some of the reasons I've seen for blocking should not warrant people losing access to even one shop. I think users being able to cut off anyone they want from shops will bring more harm than good. ): Maybe a tiered block system that required a ticket filed to get user locked from shops. I could see that being something, maybe.

I absolutely agree that the blocking system needs looking into in some ways, but not in this way. I agree the problems with the autopricer needs to be fixed, but I truly don't believe this will fix that issue and could bring it's own issues. Personally, I really just want a button at the bottom of the dang page to finalize. ;-; I can see the advantages of not seeing someone's UN for any reasons people might have, I'm supportive of some options discussed making changes to those. I also 100% agree that the rules around blocking (as well as the actual system) could be reworded maybe even revised a bit.
