Is this a "I REALLY don't like the people I blocked and I don't want to see their names anywhere" thing or a "I don't want people to maliciously use the autopricer to buy a bunch of my items and sell for much higher" thing?
I feel like people didn't really care much about who was buying their stuff until the second thing happened much more regularly. I think there's more Staff could do to help us see dramatic drops in prices more before we submit to the autopricer. If it's the first thing... I don't really got any suggestions.
So if there's a really rare beanbag I want for my collection, and it's one of the last ones I needed, and the only people selling it are people who blocked me, how is that fair? No support.

It's not entitlement, it's basic functions of the site that everyone should have access to, whether you like a person or not.

if you really dislike someone so much that seeing their username makes you uncomfortable, maybe it should simply be the case that blocked users' names aren't visible in your shop history. (so the sale will still be visible, but you won't see the name of whoever bought the item.)
the autopricer abuse is a separate issue with separate steps that can and should be taken to address it.
agreeing with others here that we shouldn't be able to impede other users' capacity to use intended site functions more than we already can.
Nah I don't care if I see those users' forum posts or whatever, but the autoprice abusers and price gougers are a real bummer (actually the only complaint I really have about the site) and I absolutely want to block them from seeing or buying from my shop

I guess we just disagree on what an interaction is. I don't consider people buying from my shop to be an interaction because I don't look at who owns a shop and I don't expect the one person I blocked to do the same thing. They're not talking to me, they come and and go, and that's it. They're buying the cheapest thing and that's what I'm doing too. This is purely transactional to me.
Hard disagree, if I block someone I just don't want to interact with them... a shop purchase doesn't involve any personal interaction so it doesn't bug me.
I am in favour of usernames either being removed from the shop log, or an option being added to toggle them on/off, though. That seems like a fair enough compromise.
Frenchi's suggestion of removing blocked users' usernames from your shop history is a great idea, especially for users who don't want to even see a particular person's username (which I understand).
I don't think it's a good idea to prevent blocked users from purchasing from the blocker's shop. The purpose of blocking has always been about preventing socializing with blocked users, and frankly, spending sP during a quest isn't really social. I suppose theoretically, a blocked user who wanted to continue harassing someone could mass-buy random items from the blocker's shop, but that's a pretty pathetic waste of time and sP lol. Frenchi's suggestion prevents even that from being a mode of harassment for vindictive blockees.
This suggestion by from the autopricer thread might work, if coding can make it happen.
We were told to report possible autopricer riggers to staff (not that it seems to matter since it&;s still happening all the time). You can&;t do that if you can&;t see names in sales history. Could make it a toggle feature to see or not see names of buyers.
I actually assumed this was the main reason for this request. I just want to block people who do this lol
God I wish they'd take this more seriously, riggers are a total blight on this site. U.U
Eh I'm not a big fan of this. I have people on my block list from like 12 years ago and I can't remember what happened now. Regardless, if I'm questing and they have something in their shop that's the lowest price, I'm not looking to see whose shop it is. I'm trying to just get through my quests as quickly as possible.
The forum posting is a whole other issue and there's already a locked thread regarding that.
Working on filled wardrobe achievement. Almost at 12k!
I'm all for the suggestion to toggle user names on/off from purchase logs. It is true sometimes you ARE the ONLY option for some items to be purchased by sp, I think it'd blow hard to find out the ONLY option for you is well now NOT because of the blocking. Blocking here seems to be more "I don't want to interact with this content" key word INTERACT. So you won't see their shoutbox, forum postings (you may see that they recently posted but iirc you won't SEE the actual posting) they can't smail or other COMMUNICATIONS with you. That's it. That's what blocking currently does.
I've been blocked by people who weren't even involved in a conversation between myself and another user. It happens, not everyone has to like your opinion/what you have to say. What I find ironic of being blocked by others who weren't part of the conversation was that me and the user(s) it's been between get on great after talking. And usually the topics are never anything deep in the first place.
Don't want to see what someone has to say? Ok great block them. If they were truly horrible I'd hope you'd file a ticket about the situation too. I'm just thankful there's not as many SB stirpotters/trolls as there once was.
FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.
and maybe vice versa: if someone/others has you blocked, you should be able to block that someone/others from buying from your shop(s). Maybe like a little toggle option button on the block page.
The argument against this is: someone not being able to finish a collection or whatnot, is moot... as the site re-releases items that people find too expensive or NFS/T at all.

Also, a post on the thread:
blocking a user should hide their billboardsWhere a UA posted on that thread ( I am not talking about the quote I mentioned ) :
Peace! 💚
I wish the block would go the opposite way, too, because there is someone with a name that has multiple meanings and I hate seeing their shop names every time I quest. but blocking them doesn't hide their shops....
I guess I could agree with levels of blocking, sometimes the only reason I want to block someone is for stuff like the thing I mentioned, so changing the name to something generic like "Shop" and "User1234" etc would be nice. whereas, if someone is a bigot or abusive, a harder block would completely hide them from the site and interacting with you in any way possible.
kind of an aside, but I would hope in the case of someone verbally abusing other users you would be reporting them to mods, not just blocking them. ^^"

I support blocked users names not showing up in the blocker's sales history, that seems like a fair compromise.

(for the topic itself, i'm neutral on it -- i only have 4 people blocked (and i genuinely don't remember what 3 of them even were for....) and i don't pay enough attention to pick them out of a lineup in my shop's profit ledger; but i can definitely understand other people having bigger issues regarding it.)

[tot=nicolas]You can block a shop from showing up in your search results through CSS.
.row[data-shopid='#####'] {display: none;}
Finding the shop id number to insert can be a little complicated depending on your browser. I use Firefox, so just hovering over the shop name in the search list and the shop number will pop up in the lower left hand side of the screen. Other options could be to right click on the shop link and "copy link location" paste that in notepad, the final numbers of the address is the shop id.
So you'd have to interact once to determine the shop id number, but then you would never have to see it again.
