It's just a day to walk around, ask questions, tour the dorms if you haven't yet, get to know the teachers for your majors and ask questions about what classes you're have to take, prerequisites, Colette and El were both in education so there was a lot about how they start their observation and student teaching the spring semester of their freshman years , ask questions, we ate lunch in the actual cafeteria, which make a LOT of the kids be like "oh hey, this won't be bad at all!". Ask questions :P

Then they had groups and such set up outside.. El talked to the music director, she's joining the choir! Colette is joining the fencing club, Matt is joining EcoClub, El and Colette are joining OPEN which I don't remember what it stands for but it's like their gay straight alliance type thing.

And the guy from the honors program was there with the clubs and El said her name and he was like OH HEY I know your name! And so she got to talk about what all it entailed, what would happen, the opportunities, etc. Very nice!

And you could put down your $100 deposit if you hadn't yet. And did I mention you could ask questions? :P A lot of people asked dorm questions, parking questions, etc. It was actually a very interesting day, it told us a lot more than the prospective students tour day thing did.

This wasn't a must have day, just a good like.. get to know what's happening. There is a mandatory orientation day July? 29th, though!

SO many questions! People didn't ask many.. but then they were like "And for this session, we have two $75 gift cards that we're giving away, you get a raffle ticket for every question, because it's scary to ask in front of all these people!".

And that REALLY got the ball going.. and I think they could have gone longer!

We didn't win, but they both did ask a question. Most of the questions were from parents though LOL.

We found out that they can have sleepovers on the weekends in Cs dorm room though, so they're excited about that :P

And there was also a 20% off coupon for the Starbucks.. but that's where they have their college gear too. So El got a pair of sweatpants and a baseball hat, since I'm sure I'd buy them anyway and.. 20% off!

Ahhh parents are normally more comfortable asking questions than younger adult-ish kids. Sleepovers at dorms sound fun ☺️ And saving $ on stuff you would buy anyway is awesome!!

I've been in and out all weekend ... Have most of the front area raked. Am sooo pissed at whoever drove in the grass tho. Gawd-awful ruts that are going to be a pain to mow over/around because of that. It was done while the ground was wet. Was NOT us. It is on the neighbors side of the property but I/we cut that whole area normally. And have noticed I will have to rake all alongside the graveyard under the oaks again as lots of little branches have fallen due to all the wind/rain the past few weeks.

Edit 4pm Have just spent the last hour or two taking pictures and browsing the internet for teacups/saucers/pitchers etc. Need to do the silly figurines too. Could not find a couple of them to price. Found pictures of them, but no prices listed. Dangit. Going to try facebook marketplace I guess, local only preferred.

yea I don't think anything is going to sell, but I figured I would at least try. I don't want to ship anything tho, as something broke in every box she sent me. So local sale only, and so most likely won't sell anything. Most of the teacup sets are only worth like $10-30 anyway from what I could find. A couple were up to $50. The same for the pitchers (like, cream pitchers I think or else smaller teapots). Found out the bowl thing i thought went with the big water pitcher is probably a cake plate - no price on that, but the pitcher was priced over $400, I was shocked. But again, doubt it will sell. Regular plates in that type of china/pattern were around $50 so I don't know if the cake plate would be worth more or what, probably so, but could not find one with a price. I also have several saucers, and two teacups that do not have matches, so I didn't even hunt them down. Waiting to see if she finds the other parts.

Arghhhh for busyness. I saw a tiktok the other day that was like "Maycember" because it's busy like Christmas time except.. end of school stuff :P

Iz has two field trips this week, Lily is going to Dorney (an amusement park) for their 6th grade trip that they never got because of covid, and she's headed down to the elementary center to talk to their music kids.

And then we have VBS meetings (it's next month!), we have two 4H meetings this week that I'm in charge of, book club AND the flowers from the flower sale are coming in tomorrow morning. I'm just.. tired :P

How are you doing?

We've been doing mother's day stuff. Or well, I have. Folded construction paper cards, with a flowerpot base, a handprint "plant", topped with flower blossoms from the die-cut machine, picture of the child in the center of a flower on the pot. Inside of card has a picture and poem the kids colored, and a "my mommy" info sheet the kids dictated. Lead teacher has been doing parent conference stuff....checking what they know, setting up times, holding conferences, etc. Next week we will work on end of school performance songs (I would have been working on them this week too but her choice not mine).

My own personal child has nothing going on. No honors programs for him as he's failing 3 of 4 classes atm. One is close enough he could pass...the other two will be retaken. And I have finished all my college work. Waiting on two assignments to be graded but I know I got an A in all 3 classes Went to fix my classes for fall after the fiasco of the internship class (can't remember if said anything about that here?) And I can't sign up for them yet because I have to get advisor approval for one and take/pass the class I am taking this summer before taking the other two. And the 4th class isn't even listed. So I need to go into the CAP center again and hope they tell me truth this time.

[edit] 515pm Ok so the foundation people are running late. yay. Not. I planned to go get firehouse subs after they left, that means I'm hungry longer lol Also I stopped at the surveyors office and they will come next Wednesday, so ouchy, byebye money. But hopefully for a good cause. In the very least, my peace of mind knowing exactly where the boundaries are. But I am hoping to use it to deal with the water meter issue one way or the other - I'll get an estimate on what it costs to get a new one put in if its on me to do so, and then take that estimate (along with the foundation/carpet replacement ones) when I go to try and get a mortgage and HOPE I can afford one large enough to pay for those if need be. If not, well life sucks and I'll get the minimum mortgage I can and pay off the loan in Ryans name at least (I HOPE!) I really hate not knowing what my credit score is but I don't want to screw anything up by trying to get it myself, I'll just wait and have them tell me what it is when they do my credit for the mortgage loan.

Well, maybe Nathan just REALLY liked 10th grade?

It'll be good to know, about the property lines. And I know when we got our mortgage, they wanted to know that stuff was correct. Thankfully, I had our original copies from when my Grandpa had it done, but not everyone is a packrat... thankfully! :P

If you have credit cards, some of those will tell you what your credit score is. That doesn't involve looking anything up or signing up for anything, it's just on the website when you pay them.

Speaking of money going bye bye.. I just got a dumpster delivered. There's $450 gone. But it'll be worth it in the end!

He is in 11th. And this is the 2nd time he is taking the 10th grade English class. And looks like he will be repeating it a 3rd time. So yea. Who knows. He doesn't like the class or the teacher this year. Which is why he skipped class this semester.

I do not have any credit cards. In fact I think I have no credit at all really. I have some bills in my name. Like, Internet service is in my name, (at&t), the power is in my name. Orkin (pest control)... Then I have some random things like subeta, kindle, a Gerber life insurance policy on Nathan (the other two kids are now in their names)...things like that. But no credit cards. No store credit anywhere. No nothing.(due to the bankruptcy we went thru that was finalized Feb 2022). Water bill and mortgage are in Ryans name currently but I pay them and will be in my name once I get my own mortgage. Cell phone is on Ryans plan, he pays it. I did have TMobile til last year so that might show up, but it'll be bad if it does because it was closed out and then they charged us for the phones but kept sending it to collections and I never figured out who to pay back so I finally stopped trying to pay. I did not see any of that on my credit report when I got it back a few months ago tho. Just the old closed due to bankruptcy stuff. I looked at all 3 of them. But those don't give you your score.

Oh and to fix the foundation is 14-20k depending on how much of it I put stabilizing pillars under. 😲 And if I'm gonna do it, might as well do it all so that'd be the 20k. 😲 But I guess that will depend on how much mortgage I can get/afford. Edit: The price for the foundation is due to the fact that I have to put a minimum of 7 pillars under the house, the entire right side is sinking slightly, between 1-2 inches depending on the area, the middle (the bedroom I'd noticed the issue in) towards the kitchen is slightly higher than the middle towards the back, which is slightly lower (if I remember what he said correctly, it could be the opposite directions lol) :P To do the whole side and a pillar at the front as well, 11 pillars.

I've been so busy and so overwhelmed and Lily has been so.. Lilyish. Last night Iz and I were at the store. After her bedtime, because it was after 4H. And we were getting fruit for mothers day dinner, and then I remembered I needed something to wrap Lynnes presents in, so grabbed a bag, then tissue paper. Then I remembered I needed a card. Which I didn't get, because they were all like $7 and eff that and I was just standing in the damned mothers day aisle and I kind of maybe sort of quietly yelled "This holiday is a crock" and the like 5 guys in the aisle with me were all like "amen sister" and Iz was like "... mom, you okay?" LOL.

There's just so much to do and I keep having to miss things and like.. I can't be in 12 places at once but I hate missing out on anything, you know? But like.. last night, we missed the elementary school art show, which Iz didn't even care about but I still felt bad. And obviously El missed youth group because again.. I can't be in two places at once. But it's fine, she helped Alex take the old swingset down and they got it into the dumpster. First thing in there!

Oh yes I remember when there was to much to do. Breathe. It will be alright. Was Iz in the elementary show? Or you were just going to look/support? I'm glad she wasn't upset by it. Probably because you e been to pretty much everything else and she knows it!! She knows you love her and support her.

Mother's day. Yea. Whatever for me. I doubt any of my kids are doing anything for me. Katie is a maybe. I'll know she will text me at the very least. I guess since mine are older I should expect that. And the fact that they are mostly not home either. Aww come now. Gnomes are cute. I find as I get older things I thought were dumb(ish) I often end up liking. Like I hated the red pickup truck craze when it came out....yet now I have lots of pickup decor lol And I have gotten some gnomes over the past few years too. But yes, the thought counts! ☺️

I'm not like, ANTI gnome, they're just.. IDK. I don't really have too many gnome things LOL. Except a sip n paint thing I did last year.. that I was actively disappointed was a gnome, instead of the picture that they showed us originally haha.

Hey at least she got you something. So you're ahead lol. Thank goodness it's Friday, kids are gone. I have 15min before I can go home and chill So glad I went ahead and mowed the lawn last night. It rained last night and poured for about an hour today during Naptime!!!

I guess I can be (and I am tho it's not the same as mother's day gifts from my kids) grateful and happy that it is teacher appreciation week, and we actually celebrated last week too, since this week is testing for the older kids. So I've gotten random gifts from kids/admin the past two weeks lol. I've gotten earrings, notepads, scenty things, lotion, cups, bath salts, candy/drinks, CFA cards from kids/parents. And one parent brought me a milkshake last week during field day. PTO gave us lunch twice, snacks two days and breakfast one day last week. Admin gave us bbq lunch and an embroidered towel today (school logo lol!!! WTH am I going to do with a school logo towel???? And it's white?!?!) "Beach towels and bbq" they called it lol
