Check this out. So, over a week ago I had sent a text to my brother asking him when I should expect the phone payment. Have sent a few more but every one of them have been left unread.
Today I login to t-mobile to check the phone usage to see if he's just ignoring me or what and it only has the last cycle which ended on the 7th of this month.

Ugh, I'm annoyed. Guess I'll wait for the new records to come out and if I see there's been constant activity, then I know he's being a straight flake and I'll suspend his line. He's 42yrs old and I don't think he's ever going to grow up.

It's the current activity that I can't see. What's available is 1/8 through 2/7. I've never really looked through the stuff as I never needed to so maybe it's in a different section, but it didn't look like it.

So I logged in today to pay my bills and was able to see the rest of the activity for this month and I see he's been texting everyone else except me. That just made me livid. Like, how are you going to blatantly ignore someone who's been helping you out for YEARS, especially your own damn sister!! That is just all kinds of disrespectful and RUDE! 😡 😡 😡

I contacted a mutual friend and asked if he (brother) was still working and he said yes so I told him that he might not be hearing from him when I suspend his service. Sent my brother a text that he has until the end of the day to send a payment.............Well what do you know, he read it and responded!

[edit] 6:37pm So I found out that our friend had texted him to make sure he read my text and maybe that's why he finally responded but regardless, he sent me this month's and next month's payments. Apparently since last month, he's messed up his Paypal (I'm not really sure how you do that but whatever...) and mentioned a service that my bank actually offers so it was as seamless as Paypal is.

Well I am glad your brother has paid for his part of the phone bill. Excellent that he also paid in advance for next month. And I don't know how you screw up paypal either, but eh. Anything is possible. Yay for mutual friends? :P

I emailed one of my ECCE teachers (early childhood). Asked a few questions about the upcoming internship/practicum class, I want to take it fall semester to have it where I can work my job for the class. I want to make sure I can actually do that, I've been told I can, but need to make sure and get it all set up. I do not like doing things last minute and that's what I told her lol so I was asking to verify I can, and to find out what steps and when I need to make those steps to arrange it. (And what people I have to talk to, etc.) Also asked if she was willing to give some advice on which classes to take summer/fall besides that one to advance into my Mercer program (bachelors in early childhood program I plan to go into). I am hopefully finishing my associate degree when I complete fall semester.

[edit] 826pm So I just wanted to vent a little about today. Little girl who has been a royal pain all year was acting up again. She has influenced another little girl into acting up as well the past few weeks (or at least, the other little girl is completely copying the royal pain). So we've been dealing with this for like, almost two weeks now, talking to mom, child, etc. Anyhow this child got mad because I made her share, threw toys at me, and screamed "leave me alone".....then refused to get in line for lunch later on. I was so exasperated by her - I asked the lead teacher did she want me to "drag" this child out from under the table she crawled under (when she refused to leave the room for lunch), or did she want to call for assistance from administration....so she calls for assistance. Takes them over 10min to respond, she's taken the other kids to the bathroom and on to lunch, i'm standing in the doorway. Anyway, long story short, when the counselor finally came in the room, the girl had already gotten out from under the table and was trying to play with blocks eyeroll. Counselor gets her to leave the room by telling her we "might" be having a fire drill soon! You need to be with your class if that happens, hurry be quick, lets go, take my hand, come on!!" WTF? LIE to a child? Just simply take her to lunch, instead of dealing with the attitude/behaviour? I mean seriously, if all we wanted was her dragged out of the room to lunch I could have picked her up and took her. I've done it before, just TIRED of doing that!!! AND YOU LIED????!!!!! What the heck does THAT accomplish????

THEN....after that. During naptime. Ryan texts. Nathan has been caught skipping class, this is 2nd time. So he has ISS for two days next week. HE IS LYING TOO!!! I get phone calls from the school system "Nathan has missed one or more periods today" - Nathan, why were you marked absent? "Teacher didn't hear me, i didn't say it in spanish etc" or APPARENTLY you SKIPPED CLASS!!!! How the hell am I supposed to trust him to go to school at all if he starts skipping class? They are changing the freaking schedule next year and he cannot even GET INTO his building until 30min after I start work, and his classes don't start for an HOUR after that!!!! He and I were discussing ways he could SLEEP IN and come to school later, if he could start being more responsible and I felt I could trust him.... and he freaking SKIPS class!!!!! AND LIES!!!! he says this is the only two days he has done it, and the first time he got caught right away - apparently this time he missed more of class - He says he and the friend who skipped with him (both have same class) don't like the class, don't like the teacher. Suck it up buttercup ... you will have lots of times you don't like something or someone, and you NEED to pass that class (its his 10th grade english class that he is REPEATING because he failed it last year).

That sounds too stressful. Is there anything Ryan can do to help out with the consequences? Maybe put him to work on something he hates or take him somewhere to get a glimpse of real life? I hate that stage. My oldest was the worst and talking just gets you no where. All they have are consequences. Take everything away from him. I don't know.

I don't envy teachers one bit and I see too much societal influence and not enough parenting for kids these days.

Ryan told him if he didn't help me all weekend in the yard moving all the big stuff that he would take the phone/laptop away for longer. I still havent decided if its only going to be for the weekend or if I will keep it longer. He has absolutely nothing to do, no electronics at all. He was listening to his record player last night hahahah dude just cannot deal without music I guess. I also saw him reading one of his Diary of a Wimpy Kid books lol He got really into them when he was younger and I've continued buying all the new ones as they come out even tho he is really above that level for reading. Got to have the whole collection you know :)

I can agree, there is not enough parenting, but at the same time, I KNOW i parented my kid, but what do you do when nothing really seems to matter to them???? I mean, he isn't HAPPY about not having electronics but I know it isn't going to make him feel awful or keep him from skipping class.

I totally get what you're saying and I'm sure there's plenty of kids out there that act out and have a good parental structure at their house. I had pretty much taken everything possible away from my oldest and it didn't do anything other than make her depressed. There's a point where you just can't do anything, anymore.
A former supervisor of mine told me that when a similar thing happened with their daughter, his wife took her down to volunteer at a homeless shelter so that she can get a grasp on reality. It wasn't just a one and done thing, either. It took weeks of volunteering for her to see the real world and what it could become if she didn't straighten up. (not that that's the case for all homeless) I wanted to do something like that but with my work schedule and being on nights, I rarely found the energy/time to do much of anything other than cook dinner before taking them to their dads for the night.

Maybe see if you know any other parents that have kids in the same age range and are struggling with similar issues? A FB group, maybe?

Yea. I don't know what I could take him to do around here, if anything. He has a dim idea of homelessness, we have talked about when Shane was in Texas and was in a homeless shelter for a while. He's also helped out with collecting donations and service projects to help those in need with youth group in the past. I have pretty much gotten to the point where he is just going to have to fail in order to learn .... But that still puts stuff on me. I'll be supporting him with a place to live and food to eat in the least....til he is 18 or so. Then I guess I'll have to get very harsh or something ...

No. It's not that extreme and he would be miserable living with his dad. Not to mention dads work schedule would not work whatsoever with school. I'm hoping it's just a little rebellion and not going to be a huge issue going forward. It's just been frustrating

I mostly was just meaning that even if he fails his high school classes it means he lives with me longer....I don't feel him failing his classes is going to be something he cares about. Not at this point in time. Hopefully he will decide to get it together and pass and graduate. Ryan is pushing him to pass classes and graduate too, and coming from him I feel it means more because he is a highschool dropout

Clouds cleared out. Very nice day, especially for a Monday! Just made some pa kimchi which is essentially just green onion kimchi. Gonna make some lemon and honey stuff that you can add to seltzer with or without vanilla ice cream for a nice treat, or tea or just plain hot water. Then I'm going to roast a whole chicken with lemon and garlic for later.
If I had remembered to pick up some ginger, I would be making cucumber kimchi, too. :P As it is I kept seeing stuff I wanted to eat at the store and I wasn't even that hungry but I also knew I was going to fill the cart with mulch bags.

Ryan is a truck driver, he gets up at 12-1am and leaves the house before 2am. He is required to be at work for his first load by 5am. (Not that everybody does that but.....it is the expectation). Honestly, the past few years I've seen more dad's coming WITH the mom's to parent teacher conference or orientation. But I think dads are slightly more involved nowadays plus younger kid almost always = more parental involvement. It drops off as they get older. Dads and moms too. In my view/opinion anyway.

I also don't want to make him miserable. He is at such odds with his dad lately, they just do not see eye to eye and I think Nathan feels his dad has been inconsiderate at the least, about his sexual orientation (experimentation? I'm still confused about what the kid is/wants to be and he just doesn't talk about it much anyway). As far as I can tell, other than a few teasing type comments years ago we've always been supporting of what all the kids have chose even when it drives us crazy (cough cough, Shane). But I guess dad maybe said/did something to really upset Nathan back then? Plus the alcoholic issue, I will not put Nathan in that situation unless there is no other choice. Ryan "drinks to relax" but if you make him mad when he's been drinking he gets very mean and ugly. He has thrown things and screamed and got in faces. And a few times grabbed one of the kids (Shane) to threaten them and I won't put them in that situation anymore. Not now that it's been removed from our life. It's was a major issue between us and one looking back that makes me realize I should have left long ago....but ... Hindsight.

I never did understand how people get mean when they drink but a long time ago when my first ex husband would always flip a switch after drinking, someone told me it's like an allergy for them. It's just not a normal response.

Ooo that's a subject I'll tread lightly on, and it's one that I was watching/listening to great conversations on - you know, where people don't get emotional and use words to attack people they don't agree with.
Nathan knows who he is and is going through normal teenage crap but social media, online gaming communities, schools and even the gov't are trying to inundate kids with a completely ridiculous rhetoric that is doing nothing but making their lives harder.

OK so switching subjects real quick... I spread out the mulch and think I would like to get another 6 bags, took care of the chickens and checked the coop to find my first egg of the season!! WOOHOO! 😂 I need to put some more bedding down but I'm pretty beat. I came back in and while washing my hands, decided to wash that container and then the lemons so I can just sit here and cut up lemons while watching some more 'stuff' on Youtube.

Yay for eggs!! :) I always thought it fun when the chickens we had as kids laid an egg (we usually only ever had 1 or 2 at a time, due to classroom chick incubators).

I'm glad Survival is over. I don't know why there's only a 5min delay between kissing and there are less things to get than say Morostide where it can be up to 20min between ToT'ing and there's 2 waves of items to get. I don't even think Masq has that long of an interval and it's either that one or Vesnali that has up to a 15min wait.

I woke up sooo sore on Tuesday, the most I could do is lay on a heating pad, although that does nothing for my lower back. I was feeling a bit better yesterday morning but then I moved and something in my lower back moved and my pain shot up to a 1000. Forget that 1-10 scale... I could barely walk. Spent a lot of time with ice packs on my lower back. (heating pad makes it feel worse) I can move a bit more this morning but I'm still icing it because I've got to get out and run to a couple places today.
Need to find my big yoga ball and start sitting on that again.

[edit] 12:23 Went to one place and driving is painful and walking isn't easy, either. Good thing I have food b/c I definitely can't walk around picking up odds and ends today.
