I have never in my life had a current video game system, but eventually when I was a kid an OG Nintendo system with a few games came through the thrift store. I never got a lot of time to play (seeing as we only had on TV) but I loved playing it. Super Mario Bros and The Goonies were my two favorite games to play.

Please forgive my absence as I am sick currently. I promise to pick up the contest to finish out the month this upcoming Tuesday. Thank you guys sorry! <3
Thank you guys for bearing with me here! I am starting it today instead of tomorrow to give you more time. <3
The winner of March week 4 was [/size] March Week 5
Week 5 Prize:
Week 5 Contest: Fairytale: Monday 4/3 to Monday 4/10
For the last week let us treat it like bedtime shall we? As a young person, I am sure you either got read to or read at night (or both). For this week I would love for you to please share with me your favorite fairytale, book, or story that you loved as a kid/teen. It could be a short story, a poem, a book just some form of literature you liked.
My Example:
Childhood: Goodnight Moon
Not many people know but I guess you will all get to know me a little better this time. Starr is my name, well my middle name. In my family, we have a tradition (Much like Sailor Moon I know lol) of being named after a star or something celestial. All of my siblings got names of different planets or constellations and I got well Starr, lol. I don't know if I should be mad at that or not. Anyway, this book was given to me by my grandfather right before he passed away. My oldest brother read it to me at first then I used it to learn how to read on my own.

Teen: Three Sister's Triolgy
As I got older I got into a lot of books about witchcraft and the supernatural. I am not the one to read romance or what not, and that is what a lot of Nora Roberts writes. However, I found the first book for a quarter from a yardsale and really loved the story. So I bought the whole series. It's about 3 women who are descendants of the Salem witches who have to come together to save their little island from an ancient evil. Though I am mostly high fantasy this is actually set in a modern time. I still re-read this series from time to time.

As a little gremlin my mom taught me to read with the super great 'Green Eggs and Ham'. I read (past tense) it to my gremlin, too.
As a pre-teen I was all about 'Little House on the Prairie'! God, I loved those books, and read almost all of them. As soon as Laura gets marred, I was like, who cares? LOL I was gonna leave it at that, but I cannot forget the Redwall books. They were like... amazing. Great books. 10/10, would recommend!

My favorite book when I was a child was "Charlotte's Web". I remember that it was my first "big kid" chapter book. I was so proud of being able to read it.

I honestly don't remember a lot of what I read as a teenager, mostly because it was the required reading for school and not really my choice. Now that I'm an adult, I'm finding much more to read that I enjoy. :)
To be honest, it wasn't till my adolescence that I started to enjoy reading. Saying that, my favourite saga was The Chronicles of Narnia. I have the 7 books and I love them all.
My mom worked nights so she was home all day and taught me to read very young. I tended to frustrate teachers because when my classmates were reading Fun with Dick and Jane (Hated that book), I was already into Andrew Lang's Rainbow Fairy books.
I have loved the fantasy genre ever since. My battered old hardcover of The Hobbit remains my favorite book to this day.

Childhood: Der Struwwelpeter is one of my first books i can remember, it has more stories in it and all where written in rhyme, i don't think any of them ended well. (Max und Moriz is the longest story and the last one in this book.)

i'll give one example that should teach you not to play with fire or you'll BURN ALIVE! The cat's are called Minz und Maunz and try to stop her.

i'll put a second one from my childhood which also contains multiple stories but i have so many fond memories of reading it with my mom and reading it to my little siblings. sometimes falling asleep in my little sisters bed with her. I loved looking for the hidden little fish on every page as well, some where really hard to find. my favorite stories from this where Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten, Der Froschkönig and Rumpelstilzchen.

loosing interest in reading
the only later insterst i showed in books was the first Harry Potter book my older sister had but she did not allow me to read it untill she was done, understandable XD, but that was a book we had at our grandmothers and so it took a while for her to finish it, by the time my sister would have allowed me i completely lost interest in reading because of school. I'm Dyslexic so i was not meeting the desired reading speed of the teachers, whenever i tried to read faster i did not remember a single word i just read. so why even try to comprehend what i read when this is the result that makes them happy.
As an adult i've not read many Books but i'm trying to get the love for it back.
I second these books, Struwwelpeter and Grimm, I think all the children in Germany read them or got them read when young in times past. However, they are mostly fierce and cruel fairytales and were used to give children a fright and tell you something about behavior (Struwwel) and morality (Grimm). Same in the books of W. Busch.
However, I loved the story of Gevatter Tod (Godfather Death). It got me into medicine somhow, LOL.
Also, until today, I am telling my kitties the story of Flying Robert when they want to go out in rain and wind, a little bit modified, LOL:
"When the rain comes down a-dash, When the storms the meadows lash, cats and kits stay snug at home Preferring to let others roam!"
I liked the idea of Bob flying though the whole world, visiting places, with his umbrella!
When getting older, I liked the stories of the mischievous twins Hanni and Nanni by Enid Blyton, called "The Twins at St Clare's" (first book) in English. They were fun and well told and I liked to see the development of the twins to good and sensible persons.
In my youth, I finally fell for fantasy and sci fi, Pern, Tolkien, the spaceship/brainship series by Anne McCaffrey, Harry Potter etc.

Oh, that's a lot less distance than USA! :-) We spend some holidays there, Salzburger Land, Serfaus and some Gletscher for skiing, Neustift etc.

A Little Princess it's about a rich girl who gets sent off to a boarding school but due to an unfortunate event becomes poor. lol i like this book because the girl had a doll and there were mentions about food. :)
Dr. Suess- :)

V. C. Andrews -
Andrews's novels combine Gothic horror and family saga, revolving around family secrets and forbidden love (frequently involving themes of horrific events, and sometimes including a rags-to-riches story). Her best-known novel is the bestseller Flowers in the Attic …
