it's been a rough week, I swear. Yesterday, I had a doctor's appointment which wasn't as good as I had hoped. Nothing serious but my sugars aren't as low as we'd both would like--which is super frustrating.
Today...well I did too much today because dad spent over half the day in doctor's offices. Well, the urgent care clinic first part of the morning and the orthopedic place the second part. He didn't get back home till after 5.30 which was hard all around. He hurt his thumb/wrist a few days ago. Anyway, we had to buy a new washer and dryer. We knew it was coming and it basically gave up the ghost. We have a new washer and dryer arriving tomorrow and we had someone coming today to unhook the old ones and move them outside. But since dad was gone all morning I had no choice but to clean off the washer and dryer of items and put them away--then I had to move things that were beside the washer and dryer, move some cabinets we have in the kitchen/dinning room so the appliances could be moved, move mum's hoveround... THEN when the guy came i had to help him get them both out of the house by spotting him and giving the washing machines a push--which wasn't fun let me tell you.... MY surgical foot was throbbing and I took at nap from 2.30-6--I was that tired and in pain. But I also had to help make Melody's snack so she has something to prevent boredom, and make myself a snack... oh and help dad carry maya into his bedroom as she's been giving me some late night grief so she's having some sleep overs with Mario LMAO. the short end of my story is basically it was a hellish day. Like I said, been a rough week. How are you both?
Paddy lol I can work with that :P HAHA I like that too :D
Pinkpanther Oh please! I have no idea how to get that bloody raft to move. LOL or where to find clothing XD
is there anything else you can do to get the sugar levels lower, given that lots of exercise isn't possible while you've got the cast on?
I think I'd have just given up at that point in trying to get the washing machine and dryer out! I'd have wanted to move everything that sits near it out of the way, but actually moving the machines would be what the delivery driver can do 😇
Hopefully your week improves over the weekend though ;)
My week's been pretty 'meh....
long story....
Grandad had been in hospital since late March (UTI which caused delirium & hallucinations). He was moved to a community hospital, then eventually moved to a nursing home (we already knew he wouldn't regain his fitness levels, as the deterioration in the couple of weeks before he was admitted was so rapid). Last month he had another UTI and ended up back in hospital for about 24 hours as it'd caused delirium again. They discharged him quickly on their 'hospital at home' scheme, where he could be back at the nursing home but still under the care of the hospital. Wednesday two weeks ago, we had a phone call from the hospital at home team to say Grandad "was dying" and they expected it to be that day. Mum went to visit, and said he was the same as he'd been at the community hospital (his breathing had gaps in it when he was asleep). That weekend he seemed to improve a bit.
Since Saturday, he's gone downhill rapidly, and the delirium and hallucinations have got a lot worse (previously the hallucinations seemed to be of 'nice' things, but this week they seem to be distressing him). Today Mum agreed with the nurse that they should give him a sedative to at least mean he'd not so distressed, although the nurse said that it is likely to hasten 'the end'. But I agree with Mum that if it's a choice between him being so distressed and flailing around all the time, or him dying slightly sooner, then there's no real option but to go with the sedative for him!

I have to say a sleepover with Maya and Mario sounded fun. Can I join next time? xD I am sorry it has been such a cruddy week. :hugs: I hope you can get your sugar levels where they need to be. Doing okay here except the draining appointment today.
And for the game: I don't know where to find clothes to protect against the heat, but you can roast spicy peppers (up to 5 at the time) for something to eat that will keep you warm for a few minutes. You can find spicy peppers around where the cold areas start. You need flint, wood and a metal sword to make fire next to the cooking pot.
The raft: You need the ultrahand ability you get from one of the shrines to make a raft. You attach 3 logs together (next to each other), you can attach a sail if you find one. A large leaf attached on a weapon can create wind (fuse ability from another shrine). Or you can use a fan to create the wind (without sail too to propel forward). The fans looks like a large cog/wheel. Attach the fan to the raft. The fans need zonai charges to work (you get those from chests and beating enemies sometimes etc). Whack the fan with a sword or something to get it to start. Whack it again once you are done so that it stops using more of your zonai charges. I hope that made sense.
I also use the bottom of my wardrobe to store stuff. :P But I do know what is there, as I don't have too much room there for things.
It must have been a relief that it was not all super heavy stuff that needed to be moved. Christmas must have been a nightmare trying to keep the shelves stocked! I never took part in that at the supermarked I worked for. I was just as the register all the time, which got super boring.

A lot of my stored stuff is in boxes, so it's not even something I can just peer into the wardrobe and see what's lurking! :P But I did come across some stashed gift-ideas that I'd bought last year, which saves me needing to dash around to find something for Father's Day next week! 😊
nods it was mostly the shop floor staff that had to come to the stockroom to collect up stuff to fill the shelves, so they tended to have extra staff in just to help with that (on a Thursday evening they had 5 or 6 people in literally just to keep the shelves filled - from October through to Christmas) ;) In the supermarket I started in, I never was allowed to do anything but work on the tills.... I don't understand why they restrict people to just one area, as if you work on other sections / doing different things, you learn a lot more about the products ;)

I've been trying for ages... it just doesn't seem to be doing enough.
Well we were told they wouldn't take them until they were at least out of the closet where they are. But because of all the chemicals on them, I wanted them both outside.
But they took the old ones for recycling and the new ones are in so yay!
aw man. i was worried about his health. But I agree, no one needs to live in terror, that's not really good, so I agree with you both. -hugs- I'm really sorry.
lol maybe for them :P thanks me too. I hope it's not too draining for you.
Okay, I'll give that a try with the fan and hitting it with the tree branch and sword things... I knew about the peppers and I do have the zonai charges.
But I never have found flint in the other game :/
Your pets are all adorable. I would hang out with them any day. lol I'll be the fun auntie.
I dont remember exactly where I found the flint. Ooops. But in caves and whatnot. You can fuse together a stick and a stone to make a hammer to break rocks. A lot of the time weird and creative solutions will work in this game and you can find many different ways to do things.
Finding some gift ideas will be useful for sure. ^_^ At least I don't have to worry about Father's Day yet, as it is not next week for us. ;)
Extra staff sure helps, but it never seem to be enough. :P Me either. I almost got carpal tunnel for working the tills for hours on end.. 5 days a week. At least I quit before I got any real issues. And you were right, I was often clueless when it came to answering questions about things. :P And guess who gets allll the complaints, the person working the register. :P Like complaining about how expensive things were, I mean what did they want me to do about it? O_o

ooo I like the Panzer Hydra look today :)
I know that companies over here refuse to deliver / set up washing machines if they're in a bathroom, but I'd have thought if they were going to connect the new ones in the same closet, then they would be willing to remove the old ones! o.O But at least they took away the old ones and didn't leave you with those sitting outside ;)
We had a phone call this morning to say it was time for 'final visits' (just as Mum was heading there to visit Grandad anyway), so we're suspecting it'll either be today or tomorrow.
same here :P but I wanted to be more organised this year (for once) as this coming week is likely to be ridiculously busy (see my previous post to Raven under the spoiler)
It's even worse if it's a supermarket, as there's not even scope to walk away from the till and tidy up or something, just for a change of scenery. The customers not only expect you to know where the stuff is, but also what it is / how to cook / prepare whatever fruit or veg (some of which I'd never seen before!) o.O Moaning about the price is always a daft comment from a customer to someone on the tills though.... even if you felt that the item was damaged and warranted a reduction, you wouldn't be senior enough to authorise that anyway!

thank you :D. You’re looking really pink lol Yeah i thought the disconnection was weird. And they wanted it pulled out. But whatever its gone to be recycled so there you go lol. Yeah but we paid $50 each appliance for haul away. So seems kinda wrong that we had to have extra work to do before they took them.
Aw I’m really sorry. -hugs-
haha. See whats what made the first game challenging for me. Its a little too open ended for my liking but i will forage ahead and give it a ho to get to this shrine
Niamh wanted to use the Vevi arms, so it kind of made sense to go with a pink theme :P
nods I think if that was me another time, I'd just say that physically it's impossible to do (play the 'poor helpless female' - I hate doing that, but it does work!), and get them to do it if you're paying for them to take it away! 😇
No news today so far, so either their estimation was as accurate as the bloke from Hospital at Home nearly three weeks ago (when he said Grandad was dying and he expected it to happen that day), or we'll maybe here something later.... it feels really weird though just kind of sitting around waiting for that phone call!

I can see that. I do love the open ended formula, but I also want to see more linear Zelda games in the future. And yes, you do need to visit all 4 shrines before you get further into the game. I managed to find some warm trousers yesterday. lol Where the rest of the warm clothes is, I dunno.
I am sorry to hear about your Gran. :hugs: It does sound like it will be a challenging week. I hope they can keep him comfortable and that they will be able say their goodbyes. :hugs:
Yeah, forget about me knowing how to use/cook the food and stuff like that. o_O Or remember the price of thousands of items.. Not happening either. lol It drove me nuts having to listen to people complain about things that were not my fault after other departments messed up, but I still somehow managed to stay polite and keep my customer service smile. :P

Or working in a homeware shop and having to tell someone they'd washed the duvet cover incorrectly (head office told me to say that, but I felt really awkward as I'd never done any clothes / homeware washing myself at that point!) One of my managers actually said he came into work and pretended he was an actor on stage all day, as his way of dealing with awkward customers 😇 (keep reading)
Mum went to visit Grandad yesterday afternoon, and was surprised that he had his eyes open (although he wasn't aware she was there, and seemed to be having a mimed conversation with someone who wasn't in the room). But we had a phone call this morning to say he'd passed away last night (not sure of the time, they just said the time the funeral directors had come to scoop him up). So in a way it's a relief as he's not suffering or distressed like he had been.

im really sorry dear. I don’t know what else to say for you but i think you’re right. Him suffering and being distressed was not good for anyone. Hugs
yeah i loved the beginning because it was more old school but i am struggling with so many options it just makes me confused how to do things.
nods it doesn't seem to have sunk in yet.... Mum's tried making an appointment at the registry office (it's got to be registered within 5 days), but apparently she can't until she has the death certificate.... which hasn't been issued yet (there's a disagreement between the gp surgeries on which one is meant to issue it, as Grandad had moved to a different gp's catchment area to be in that nursing home) o.O
....and to cap it all, I managed to break the door latch on the washing machine yesterday (tried opening it, and the latch seems to have broken completely - it won't open at all) :K so we've got to get the repairman to come and take a look at that this week too facepalm

I am very sorry to hear about your Grandad. You might be right that it might take some time for it all to sink it, but at least you have each other for support. :hugs:
I did feel like an actor some days, When I had a bad day, and still had to put on that customer service smile. :P But then again there were some really nice customers too, that made me smile and my day better.
if you are stumped, you can always google how to move forward. No harm in that, I do it all the time with games. :) I am enjoying trying to figure everything out so far. It is a bit like BoTW on steroids, even more complex with it's physics.

that's true - we're a small family (Grandad didn't have any siblings or cousins) but in a way that makes it easier, as there's less people to have to tell!
I always wished I'd given customer service reply slips to the customers that said I'd done a really good job - nobody tended to pick them up and fill them in unless they wanted to complain! 😊

geez thats a lot in a short time. Hugs
yes, i know but i kinda don’t want to use the guides if possible.. especially for something like how to get this dsmn raft moving. But I might have too if it keeps up. :( that doesn’t make me happy. I struggle with the first b.o.w
Letting family members know can't be easy at all. No matter how old or ill someone is, you never truly feel prepared.
We never had those customer service slip, but some people would say to me that they appreciated how customer friendly I was. Some would always go to my till if I were at work. ;)
I can understand that too, figuring things out on your own can be more fun. But don't stress it if you decide to look some things up. I know I am probably going to have to at some point. lol I did for BoTW. Your best bet is often to think outside the box and try different things to see what works. :)

oh no i don’t mind using guides but it still seems overly complicated lol. I’ll try to be more open minded when it comes to figuring out which solutions to come up with
I liked it when I had regular customers like that - it livened up a boring till day ;)
at least the door was repairable.... despite how old the washing machine actually is, the repairman said he had a replacement handle in stock, so he took the door away yesterday, replaced the handle, and returned to fit it this afternoon :D
