I have sometimes done that as well.. worn a t-shirt over my bathing suit. :P

There is a reason why people send glitter bombs to people they hate. :P It was the same after we had our last budgie. I am pretty sure we found them years after! Like little mementos.

yeah and if they can't get the files off then it's them not getting paid :P I got my new computer yesterday and spent some time getting a few things loaded. I got my kindle on it, though unless it's in the stand mode, I am unsure realistically how long I can read without putting it on the lap desk. Unfortunately my lap desk can aggravate my leg so it's not something I can manage for a long period. But, it's better than nothing. Currently, it's just in computer mode, laying on my good leg. Apparently, when I went out for 2 and half hours to be with mum in the lounge, the recliner didn't agree with my leg. I think it's the thin padding or something. Anyways since then it's been hurting like a son of a motherless goat! Did call my doctor and explained how it starting hurting and I have a new pain in my ankle--which hadn't really bothered me since the surgery. He told me there was an incisions there and likely that I aggravated it when I had my legs up in the lounge. So that now means I can't go back to the recliner anytime this week for sure. It's only a week post op so I've got instructions to take some acetaminophen to help reduce some of the swelling. he wants me to take iIbuprofen but sadly, we've discovered 3 years ago that I'm highly allergic to it. I do not need to be violently ill right now lol thank you very much :P Anyway, there we stand... I'm allocated back to my room probably at least until I see my doctor next week--Wednesday. And then we'll see where things stand but if it's too painful to sit in the recliner after that, I'm back to being stuck in my bedroom. At least though, I did get my computer so it'll be a bit of something else to do--even if I can't browse on it for ages without needing the desk to set it on. The tablet mode's pretty spiffy though lol but a 4 pound tablet is not necessarily easy to hold for an extended period of time lol But you know, it still provides options :) keep reading :D

read my message to paddy above lol I have a little tangent that I think it mostly easy to follow? Well I did put my kindle on the computer, but I'll probably use my phone for that since it's easier to hold and shift my position to get re-comfortable if the ole leg starts complaining. I've got Harry potter, the secret garden (which I'm about 85% through, some Stargate books (which I finished last week) on it. I do have Harry in print as well. I prefer printed books because, well they are printed... but I can't deny the ease of having everything I want to read right at my greedy fingertips lol. Plus then lighting isn't a problem. I'm actually rereading a vampire series I have--the Anita Blake series. It's pretty good. I have like 12 or 15 of those books and apparently when i checked yesterday there are 30 lol so i do have some room to expand if I so choose. But one of the drawbacks is the print on the first three (combined novel) is the print is tiny--not small, tiny... which is surprising for a hardback book. So it's hard to see without my lighting problems in my bedroom. I have a harder time finding a good position that allows me to read without issues. Currently I'm using both the overhead lights and my table lamp to help offset some of the less favorable lighting conditions within my room...

Aside from the books, though, I've got some knitting in my room, cross stitch and diamond dots. The diamond dots offer the same challenge as the computer though as I do need the little lap desk to manage it and for some reason my leg doesn't seem to agree with it for along time, but at least it gives me options. I've also got my art journal back here, Plus I've got some games on my phone as well as the switch. I admit, though, I haven't played the switch since my surgery. I just haven't been in the mood. Anyway, I do also have my second sewing machine back here so if it's not a long project, I could try sewing something. I actually did sew a bookmark yesterday, lol but that only took like, 2 minutes so I'm not really sure that counts as an anti-boredom project :P More like a necessity since I couldn't find a single bookmark in my room o.0 I think the bookmark monster ate them :P LOL well aren't I miss chatty, chat today. -cute grin- I did mention I'm lonely and going stir crazy LOL this probably proves it

that always works :D

hehe I think Mum was quite pleased when I decided I no longer liked glitter when I was little :P

Yay on the new computer :D I've got ebooks on my tablet, but I only read them when the tablet is on a stand - I don't think I could hold it and read a book for that long 😊 You could always make a little pyramid stand (I made a couple for phones before, so it should be possible just to size up that kind of pattern?), which might be a better angle than the computer's own stand maybe?

Urgh on your leg and ankle being so painful :( but I'd be the same on avoiding any medication I know causes me a bad reaction (I even tend to avoid those that have nasty potential side effects listed unless I really have to take them). I always thought it was just my bookcase that seems to eat bookmarks - I even went through the last books I'd read, but I still couldn't find mine until after I finished reading the next book o.O :P

I have a feeling she was happy too. A kid playing with glitter is bound to make a real mess. Probably why I can't remember us having much glitter at home ever. :P

Congrats on the new computer, I hope you will be happy with it. :D I am going to have to take a note of those books. Let me know if you like them. Except HP of course. We all know I love those. xD Maybe resting the computer on a pillow or something when you read would make it easier? I wouldn't like reading on a smaller phone screen, but that is me. :P I only use paper books or audio. I finished the last diamond painting the other day that I got from you btw. They all turned out so pretty.

she said it was bad enough when I was flick-painting (I was about 3 or 4 at the time :P) 😇

Or glittery fabrics where it just sheds everywhere (why does anyone need to add glitter to fabric?!)

I can use the computer in a stand mode so I can try it and if that doesn't work I can buy one of those pillow stand thingies. I don't know right now if it's because of the difficulty I'm having getting comfortable and the strange positions I have to get into in order to keep my foot from hurting too much :/

I think i would have to buy it because I don't know if I can make one that's strong enough to hold it. Cost wise It'd probably be cheaper to just buy one lol.

Yeah it's not fun and I'm having to take at least one or two more meds than I want too. -sigh- I'm concerned with it hurting so much but there's not much I can really do, save wait and see what my appointment on Wednesday brings.

haha at least I'm not the only one with disappearing bookmarks. How can they all vanish? o.0

thank you. Secret Garden is a good classic. I've read it several times. The movie is pretty good too.
I think I'll have to see how it the computer fairs when I'm not in so much pain. But i could try propping it up on a pillow. There's also Stand mode and tent mode as well so it may not need anything but it'self. I admit, I like reading on the bigger screen better. But phone is doable.

Sorry about the pains. :squishes: I hope you can find a way to use your new computer that is comfortable in the long run. Your switch is at least easy to play whereever. I have a tablet, but I never really use it. It is old now, but still works great since I have used it so little. I guess I could use it as an e-reader.

I have to say your mom was very brave to let a 3-4 year old do flick- painting. 👼 I bet you had a blast!

True.. I bought some skechers shoes that has glitter on them, but it doesn't seem to stick to the shoes for now thankfully. :P I would have gotten shoes without glitter ideally, but they were on sale and I love skechers shoes.

I love the Masq look by the way ;) If the computer's stand is different to your old one (especially if it's a different brand) then it's likely to be a slightly different angle anyway, so you'd want to have a bit of a play at finding the best way to use it - I still can't get mine right sometimes.... and I've had that for a while now! 😊

Certainly for the phone it was pretty easy to make (I just filled it with beanbag pellets that I already had, rather than using anything weighted), but obviously for something heavier like a tablet, you'd probably want something a little heavier in there.... But even if you used the stuffing from an old pillow for instance, it should be enough to hold it, as long as it's stuffed as tightly as you can ;)

I've got my toes crossed for Wednesday's appointment. Hopefully the pain is just where everything's starting to settle after he did the operation, and that'll ease off soon squishes

Maybe the bookmarks are friends with the socks that always get lost in the washing machine? :P

hehe well she covered the top of the washing machine with newspaper, then taped the paper up the wall & over the window 😇

That's my theory when it comes to buying new shoes - the most important things are a comfortable fit (usually I stick to the same brands), then the price, then finally what they look like ;)

That is such a great idea for letting a kid paint! :D Heck, I think I would have had fun doing that as an adult. 👼

Same here. I refuse to wear uncomfortable shoes. Unless it is for a special occasion like a wedding or something. ;)

you meant to pink Paddy in your last post ;) I've found a couple of comfortable possitions for the computer now XD. LOL yeah I hadn't used my tablet much myself. But I always use the touch screen feature in my laptops. Not having touch screen would make me go crazy lol.

why thank you :D Sorn wanted to play lol Well I don't think I'm gonna need one. After trying it, the tent mode for my laptop is working perfectly. It's allowing it to be standing without me holding it and still use it as a tablet. I'm very pleased. I was able to play Cake Mania for about an hour which is pretty good considering the pain I've been in.

Actually, I don't need to go Wednesday anymore. i've been in so much pain I've been crying and even the narcotic hasn't really lowered the pain very much. I broke down and called my Doc again this morning. He had me come into his office around 4. He's put an antibiotic bandage around it with some soothing ointment. He's not pleased to see the amount of swelling so he put a compression on it and extra padding as well. then he's give me some more narcotic to take if I need. Said he just couldn't have me in this much pain over the weekend. Bless him. I hope it helps. right now it's throbbing but it's been prodded a lot so it might need a bit to calm down.

Hmm it could be. Or maybe the dust bunnies want to read and steal them?

Thanks for letting me know that i pinged you instead of Paddy. Sorry about that! I am glad you found ways to use your computer comfortably. xD I don't mind not having a touch screen on mine, but I can see how it can be useful. :)

ooo that tent mode looks nifty :D :D

Well that's a positive on not having the appointment on Wednesday, but not so great on the swelling :( Hopefully the new bandages will help and it'll ease off pretty soon squishes

I never thought of the dust bunnies - that could explain a lot!

hehe I think that's the reason the pre-school leader had introduced us all to the delights of flick-painting.... simply because she wanted to do that herself 😇

I can't wear uncomfortable shoes at all! When I worked in a posh clothing shop, my boss complained that my shoes looked too casual (they were actually sold as boys' school shoes, as I can't walk in heels).... I told him that if he could find some shoes that I could wear (I've got short but wide feet), not trip over in (so no stupid heels), and that weren't ridiculously expensive, I'd get them.... he went quiet after that 😇

That is one good thing about working with kids, you get to play and be a bit childish yourself. 👼

I can't say I blame you. Walking around in high heels all day sounds like torture for your feet for me. I bet he wouldn't have lasted an hour himself. Good on you for sticking up for yourself. Thankfully I have never had a job were high heels were expected, quite the opposite.

that's one reason why I enjoyed my week's work experience in a school laughs

It was quite a stuffy sort of old fashioned shop - the only other woman working there was happy to wear heels (low kitten heels, but still ones I'd fall over wearing - the heel part is way too tiny for me!) so I don't think he'd ever had to deal with someone who wore school shoes instead of heels before 😇

ooo I love the Hufflepuff look you've got :D

Hehe.. it must have been a fancy shop if they had a dress code. Kitten heals are a bit better, but still a pain to wear for hours! I have a descent pain tolerance, but not for shoes apparantly.

Thanks. :D I found the bg in a shop for 300csc so I had to snag it. :D

in the first proper job I had, we had to wear a white shirt and black skirt or black trousers (with "sensible" shoes, so no open-toes) and a black suit jacket. Management were allowed to wear a coloured shirt (and a pinstripe suit, but it still was meant to be black) :P The fancy clothing shop was actually more relaxed than the first one - we could wear any top (within reason) and the suit could be any colour ;) But that boss was a bit too picky when it came to footwear!! Then when I went to work in admin, there was no dress code or even a suggestion, so I really never knew what was acceptable - I ended up using some of the tops I wore for the fancy clothing shop, and the suit trousers without the suit jacket :P

ooo that was a great find!! :D :D

I can of course understand having to look presentable in those jobs. :D My jobs have been retail (uniform), day care worker (very casual), library (the people working there dressed casually too) so jeans and nice shirt/jumper worked just fine. I don't like uniforms much, but at least you don't have to figure out what to put on in the morning. :P

I was surprised to find it so cheap. Very glad I checked some of my wishlist items. :D

my first job (only about 4 hours one one evening a week :P) had a uniform, but that uniform was really nasty! You were lucky being able to wear jeans for work - the only job where I was allowed to do that, was working in the stockroom (we had a sweatshirt provided, but the rest didn't matter too much as nobody really saw us :P). Uniforms definitely stop the morning problem of not knowing what to wear, but I wish places would at least have some guidance for what's acceptable and what isn't.... working in admin I noticed my boss was wearing open-toed sandals (the kind that would be more suited to the beach than work). I wore trainers one day, and someone questioned why I wasn't wearing something more formal o.O

It's always worth checking them every now and then :d

I couldn't resist a totally off-the-wall rave look :P Sorn looks particularly dashing today with all that black and gold in his outfit (and I'm not just saying that because he scares me!)

It's irritating when pain seems to want to linger for so long isn't it squishes gently Are you able to do anything to take your mind off it hurting, or does it still seem annoyingly painful regardless?
