Yeah, that too. Stealing is often not as useful as just putting a junk item on your opponent's set to use against you. There are very few opponents against whom the stealing strategy is actually useful. Those would be cases when you want to actually use your opponent's weapon against them or they have one powerful weapon you want to take away from them (stealing can be used in conjunction with blasting to increase your chances of getting it out of their set), but alas, most opponents have multiple copies of all their weapons, so stealing one isn't worthwhile, and most have a -100% heal on them when you try to use them yourself. And even if there is an opponent weapon you can use, it's a pretty low chance you steal the one you want. I haven't even tried to use a stealing strategy in a long time, the only opponent who comes to mind that it works well on is Scary Singer, who only shows up as a boss opponent on level 20 of BQs.

Lich Lord is the other challenger where stealing is preferred (that I can remember). If you have a small pet with not great weapons/spells, using his sword against him can get you the win.
