I've tasted 805 and it's a fine California Central Coast beer, one of the best. Here in Fresno, there is Tioga-Sequoia Half Dome (and others) that are less carbonated. I also like Sierra Nevada. My Author Mark lived in Chico at the time that Sierra Nevada started brewing and selling commercially back in the 1980s. He is quite a fan of theirs. Poppy's Famous Wheezle Brew isn't bottled, it's in barrels that are tapped with a spout. It's not dark, but an amber ale like the old Newcastle Ale, before they moved to America and changed the recipe.

I had a little chat with Weldon the other night after I posted about Lili's little "interlude". I hadn't told him that Lili thinks I'm pregnant because she had been gorging on slightly overripe peaches and may have become a bit tipsy and then had a "vision" about me being pregnant again. It's not normal for a wee creature of my age to continue having offspring ( my mother being the only exception in our tribe). I've had fourteen children by three litters and I'm at the age when I should be having grandchildren of my own! (if only my darn kids would get on the stick and find mates and hop in the sack for crying out loud! I mean Weldon and I couldn't keep off each other...I mean he still can't keep off me.....I've probably passed the T.M.I. threshold ....)

My point is that Weldon is extremely observant in a way that he can tell from changes in physical parameters of a young female of any species if she is showing signs of early pregnancy, often before she becomes aware of it. I know it sounds kinda creepy, but it's not really. He can read pulse rates from the supraorbital arteries in the forehead, the dorsals pedis artery of the hind paw or the jugular artery of the neck. Watchers are trained to palpate pulses for signs of stress during interrogations of suspects, but with Weldon's superior observational skills can read them from a distance, without touching the subject.

Similarly, he can count respiratory rates by observing diaphragmatic motion, vapor trails or movement of condensation droplets (or snot) at the nares. Consequently, he was able to deduce by all these signs and many more (swelling in the ankles, behavior changes in eating habits, "nesting behaviors," mood changes, etc) that my mother was pregnant with me when he was still a pup in Watcher school. (after he made that announcement to his Master, which got his ears boxed for being impudent, his first assignment as a newly hatched Watcher was to be my mother's sentinel during her confinement and subsequent delivery. Which is how he met me on the day I was born...but you'll have to read my book to find out how all that worked out in the end.) So astonishingly accurate is Weldon's ability to determine a pregnancy, that the Watcher Corp teaches "The Weldon Technique" to all members of the Healer Division of the Watcher Corps.

But Weldon hasn't detected any significant changes in me to indicate to him that I'm bearing his offspring again. Which is somewhat redundant, because I'm the Master Healer, I know all the signs and symptoms of pregnancy. (symptoms...what a loaded word, right? OH MY GOSH YOU ARE SUFFERING FROM SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF PREGNANCY! WHATEVER IN THE HECK CAN WE DO????? ) AND I'M THE little weasel-girl in question! I think I would know if I'm pregnant!

Of course, my mother didn't know she was pregnant with me...and she had twenty-two children before Friedrich and I were born. So I don't think I'm pregnant. I can't be pregnant. I don't know if I really want to be pregnant. Let Aya be pregnant this time. She and Robin want to start a family. Let me be a grandmama. I haven't done that yet. I think I would be a wonderful grandmama. I would take my little weasels out fishing and hunting grasshoppers and swimming nekkid in the swimming hole and sleeping out under the stars and laughing about boys and making fart noises with our paws... I'd be a great grandmama.

Morning, friends! We're having a super crappy week over here. A student fell from a roof last week and was seriously injured. A coworker close to my hubby tried to end their life yesterday. We've had company for two weeks and it's one of those "not sure when we'll get the next chance to see you" kind of visits, so we're just feeling down and sad this week.

My kids have end-of-summer reading party this evening. It's outside with a queue and a petting zoo so it should be very (HOT and HUMID) fun for them. And I am finally picking tomatoes from my garden. Yay!

Oh! I forgot there was yeast in pickles too. My dad has been making Tons of pickles again this year. My mom helps him some. They came over to my house recently to use our kitchen (more room for big pots) and they worked for Hours on the pickles, then the next day my mom came back and pickled some beets. The pickles just kinda hurt my nose with the strength of the vinegar..(dad's still working on which recipes work best) , but the beets smelled delicious. :3 I helped her put some pearl onions in with them and they look so pretty.

^^" 'chilly air' and 'summer' together in the same sentence does not compute with me... It's been over 100 F for Days here... The chilliest air is when I stay in my cozy and cool house.. :) I'm glad you had a good day and were able to enjoy a walk though. Two of my sisters and I went over to my parent's house to enjoy some pizza and play some games. One of my sisters works at a school and part of what she was doing for a couple weeks this summer was having a club where she shows kids how to play a bunch of different board games. ^^" It had it's ups and downs, but she and the kids seemed to have fun. But since she was teaching them, she didn't really get to play. "I would have Destroyed them" ~ calie So we went over and played some Clue and some Uno, worked on a puzzle, and generally had good family time.
My other sister is on a trip up north. She was going to spend a few days in NYC and then go over to the DC area to visit an aunt of hers. She seems to be having a blast, but my protective side is all 'don't stay out so late!'. ^^" I just have to trust that everything will work out. le sigh
