1000% seconding on CW shop search! I've struggled with this same issue several times xD
The CW forums have been in a decline for quite a while so my point about community was more over the fact that this change is going to push even more people away from the forums and the shops don't currently offer any alternative interaction options. So I can't help but to feel like overall this is going to chip away at the community aspects of CW if nothing is implemented in shops to make up for it. As a buyer I love the shops for their ease of use but for me as a releaser they feel really clunky in their current state. I haven't personally been very active on the forums as of late and will have even less motivation to do so after these changes. But it really is the best place for interaction within the community and there is currently no feasible replacement for it.
This was the response I got when I sent a ticket about the pricing issue. This at the end of last year though so maybe it got implemented over the past year. It's good to hear that this isn't the case anymore. Hopefully if similar issues arise in the future they'll be able to get resolved this time around. :)
And regarding bugged invites, there was a thread about the invite issues on bug forums to which I also posted at the time. The thread got a staff response only after the issue had already resolved after several days of the invites not working.
I hope we'll get an option to return to the topic of shop logs on a dedicated thread at some point. If my memory servers me correctly the previous big one was at the start of the year and I feel like a lot has happened in that span of time and it would warrant another discussion in the light of these new developments. I'd love to hear more about the staff's perspective on this (not here though) since it does feel like the past dramas of the community are being held against us and we are being denied possible community development because of it. You mentioned the reasons being similar to what has been mentioned before, but that does leave it a bit vague considering how much time has passed and the limited amount of people who participated on the discussion in the past plus the manner in which a big portion of that discussion was conducted.
As for time line, I'm happy to hear it's at least not a definitive no for the sale. I'll stay cautiously optimistic. I understand the hesitancy to give out any sort of time lines but it'd be nice to hear even a little bit about it. For me it feels really crappy to release anything in this uncertain limbo period we are in currently. The changes could come next week or they could come next year and there's a big difference between the two options. So in the end everything is on hold because otherwise I feel like I'm wasting both my money and other people's money. I love that you are giving us frequent updates but at the same time it makes me feel like these could drop any day now so I'm kinda just rocking on my heels and waiting. xD
all have really good points and explain everything well. My current only conflicted feeling on slotting going away is the same what stated above. I honestly love getting to know my customers and the fans of my items, and I like to keep tabs on, who are the frequent ones to be able to give back to those who support me whenever I have a chance. I get a comment from an user, who lets me know they have picked up something from my shop once in a blue moon and I really really appreciate the gesture, since it also gives me an opportunity to get to chat and get to know these people a bit. There's no way everyone is going to comment every time they buy something and are by no means obligated to.
This would be my own personal positive experience in CW shop market transparency and how is it now, I wanted to share, because in all honestly I believe in this community! I really wish it will be implemented in the future, because my actual fear is I will be more isolated from the users who support me and the community after these changes. However the new changes seem really super convenient and I'm looking forward to get more unpopular stuff on site without the hassle. I have had many niche releases and have had a lot trouble slotting things in the past, so I have my doubts if I personally will be doing much slotting on forums from there on. Of course it will all depend on how the updates will turn out in the end. What this all boils down to is I'd love to keep getting to know this community trough CWs more smoothly and in an organic way, because fashion is my passion lmao.
Just wanted to chime in again and say I love the idea of implementing some kind of faving/hearting option for items in CW shops, and maybe a commenting system too. Maybe that would encourage people who avoid threads to interact with releasers in a different way.
Maybe an option to click on an individual CW in the shop to see a page with its database info, a fave option, and comment section? I'm sure it'd be a lot of work to code in, but could be interesting!
I couldn’t be happier about the no slots!!! As someone with social anxiety, posting on the forums is always such a stressful thing, most of the time I type something out then delete it and just don’t bother because I’m no good at chatting or small talk. I used to be really active in the CW ‘community’ way back when CWs were introduced but over the years CWs have become so exclusive and cliquey that I’ve brought less and less (though now my subscription lets me get some from shops I’ve brought a few more recently) and now I’m really hoping that more people will have their items available in their shops so people like me can buy them too. A lot of artists have been using discord and that’s made me feel even more excluded and it sucks so here’s hoping it gets better!

This is something I brought up aaaaaages ago (like we're talking years). It's definitely something I'd be willing to bring up again, but it will definitely be a post-revamp thing. Right now we are absolutely maxed out on what we are able to do to get the new CW system going (we have a huge list going of things to continue adding in! But if we ever want to get the main thing released, we need to put additional ideas on that list)
Re: Shop searches and features - you guys have lots of great ideas here :) Some we will be looking at having in the revamp, and some will need to wait, but our goal is definitely to make it easier for EVERYONE - sellers and buyers alike - to use.
Oh YAY, that's so cool that you had already had it in mind! I completely understand being maxed out right now, but if the idea of non-wearable custom items is even a little on your radar after the big revamp rolls out, then I'm super satisfied.
As for the logs and my comment about a "few bad apples," I fear that came off a bit dramatic. In truth, I understand the sales log is a tiny little thing and I didn't mean to put so much weight on that one issue, just experiencing a general feeling of frustration that past drama/a few users' actions continue to influence how users view the CW community, since many of the cons on the thread I linked you talked about how a sales log might contribute to more drama or bullying. I know you and the council have our backs and I didn't mean to insinuate that you hadn't thoughtfully considered this issue or any other. I'm sure there were a lot of variables to think about and I respect the decision.
Thank you for even discussing this with me, btw! I know the decision has been made already, but it's so awesome that you and the other staff are so nice about trying to work through ideas with users/clarify/explain stuff. :)
I think you could possibly work around the log issue by putting the item in your regular shop for CSC?
I don't know for sure, since I've never submitted a CW, but I thought the log would have the purchaser's name since the regular shop logs do. At least the last 50 purchasers like shop logs.
I've sold a couple of CWs in my Happy Shopping user shop, and I saw the names of the purchasers of those.
Because of that, I don't understand why there would be any issue with user names on CW shop logs either. None of the statements of there being users who are against it seem plausible; requests don't seem to be so opposed.
Maybe it could be optional? Similar to how CWs can be locked and then invited, let CWs be marked "purchasers listed" and then everyone buying those knows their name will be recorded. Vs "anonymous purchase enabled" and people buying those will know their name will not be visible.
Alternatively, maybe (since the most common use cases mentioned seem to be sending messages to frequent buyers and refunding CSC overspends) It might be possible to implement a "send thank you gift" to the still-anonymous buyers, where sellers could create connections by sending an anonymous noted gift to the buyer. That way they could send notes like "thanks so much for buying from me" and links to their release threads and refunds of CSC if they needed to.
I suspect that would be too much work for the benefit, though, unfortunately.
Just another quick update/spoiler, haha! I know some of you were curious about how you'll handle artist copies now that there's no slotting. We wanted to make this easy and also have some sort of price break to help out. So when you submit an item, you'll have the option to pay 1/2 price to have a second copy of the item sent directly to the artist! So for example, if you are submitting a wig for 350CSC (psst, this is the actual new wig cost!), you can instead pick to pay 525 CSC and essentially get two copies of the item - one sent to you, one sent to the artist.
And yes, this will work if you are both the submitter AND the artist. You'll get a second copy for half off, which you can of course do whatever you'd like with.
We've made it optional in case you really are making an item JUST for yourself and really don't need an extra copy, or if you have a different plan worked out with your artist, etc! It is one of my favorite little features we've added in.
!!!!
This is really exciting news ahh. Also !! I am probably going to go crazy prepping releases soon, even if the system isn't close to ready lmao.
I am so hype. HYPEEE.
Eeek that’s an awesome price for wigs!! This is so exciting :D love the discount artist copy!!!
y e s this is all amazing tysm for your work and all the updatesss
Oh my god I am so excited. Thank you for the update and also the heads up about the new pricing. That's still less than me covering slots on things and I just joyful tears
I don't know a thing about submitting and don't have a real interest in it but
Seeing as how some wigs I'm looking at now are asking for 750 CSC....WHOO HOO!
Keep in mind that 350CSC is the base price! Users will still be able to mark them up as they see fit :) The idea is that it will (hopefully) lower prices across the board, but definitely something to remember!
All of the new pricing is finalized, so I'll continue to surprise you all with the new numbers here and there ;)
This is exciting!! Thank you so much for all the updates you're giving us! It's greatly appreciated <3
Definitely excited about these changes! Hope you are doing well and thank you and for working so hard on this for everyone. n_n
