02:52 ... It's late at night but as exciting as it was back when Ali boxed ... the alarm clock was set so as not to miss anything ...
I wish so much that there is a change, one that will help your country recover ... that will save lives ... that fulfills hopes ... that will give you safety again, without weapons, because you never have brought peace ... without walls, they separate what belongs together, we also felt that painfully here ... one that no longer makes any distinctions ... no one has the right to judge someone because they are different, live differently, has a different skin color ... isn't that what makes us human and interesting? ... our individuality? ...
I really wish that from tomorrow things will get better and safer ... because if someone is in a position of power and is not interested in human life, but only in himself, he is a danger ... for the whole world ...

Thanks so nice to see what people from other countries think of what is happening in our country.
BHH ignored me so much lately, I was beginning to think I was going to put coal in his stockings for Christmas and put a laxative in his birthday cake.

Now that I have time to breathe, since Morostide has ended, I can tell a bit about our ranch. lol
We are a working ranch, so sometimes people actually PAY to come work and stay here for a time. Mostly tho, we have hired ranch hands (some who have, and work, as a family), who manage their own acres, and the livestock that live on those acres. It can be a lot to wrap your head around, for sure. These folks are all either ranchers who lost their own farms, young men who want to have their own ranch someday, and want to learn the ropes before committing, or just folks who love ranch life, and have come to join our ranch family. Before COVID, we would all gather at least once a week for a large meal, and catch up with each other. It is easy to go weeks without seeing all of the people who work here, and that was a great time to gather, and just let off steam. Now we do tele meetings, which is odd, to say the least, but important, in order to keep everyone on the same page.
Now I married into this ranch family, and when we married, I was a nurse practitioner, so didn't do much with the ranch's day to day work. Now that I am medically retired, I do a bit of this and that, as little, or as much as I want. Mostly I take time to greet our new rescues, put new staff at ease, make meals for the single ranch hands (because they usually eat a lot of CRAP on their own), and some of the ordering of materials. I also do liaison work with organizations, grant writing, etc, for the ranch itself. None of this is solely my responsibility, as I have major health issues that keep me in bed/at home most of the time. A lot of this work, I can do from my computer tho, so it makes it a win win situation.
We have thousands of acres on this ranch, which has been in my husband's family for over 100 years. They were the first settlers in this tiny village. Yes, we are called a township and village. We have about 550 people who live in the town, and I think over half work this ranch....lol Not really...we have a little over 175 employees, and some seasonal workers, who don't live here. Each worker covers about 100 acres, and the animals that roam those said acres. We have horses, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, a few alpacas, guineas, wild turkeys and deer, ducks/geese, and some rabbits. Of course, there are barn cats, and we also have dogs. All of the meat we eat, we raise and render here at the ranch. We have some hands who look after the corn and soy fields, and orchards. Most of our food comes from what we grow and raise. If you have never had an egg fresh from a chicken/duck/geese bum, you are missing out! Also, if you have never had a fresh veggie plucked straight from a garden, come on over, and we'll give ya lots! In that regard, we also supply some of our state's food banks with fresh fruits and veggies, and such. It is a way to give back to the community, and we are grateful and blessed to be able to do it.
We are now in the middle of our Autumn cattle drive, and horse sales. This is one of the busiest times on the ranch, and it's all hands on deck. We still drive the cattle through our town, and across one of the state highways, so it is also a dangerous time for everyone involved.
, one of the funny (and scary at the same time) things that happened here was a few years back. We had a few late calves born, and they had never experienced a drive. They kept trying nurse while their mama's were running. Picture a little calf, trying to run and nurse at the same time.....ay ay ay.... We usually separate the calves, but that time we needed them in the drive to make our quota, so they went too. Another funny was something I am sure those who have had geese will appreciate, and know well. We had one goose, and rooster, that were just mean as &$^!, and they were chasing one of the hand's kids. Poor lil guy was runnin around like his life depended on it. The goose got his ankle, and was trying to eat it like we eat a chicken leg! LOL I had the same thing happen when I was a kid, so I know that true fear of that goose and rooster catchin up with ya! ooooooWEEEE!
The horses, are of course, my favorite. We have mainly Belgian draft horses, and we rescue a lot of other breeds. We breed Belgian and Clydesdales specifically for other farms.
So, that is about all I can type at the moment. If ya want to know more, or have a specific question about ranch life, hit me up! It is fun, but definitely hard work. And I apologize for any typos!
Oh hi! I didn't know you were in this group too. It's so fun seeing familiar faces here :) Your ranch/ranch life sounds amazing. I love horses and horseback riding but don't get to do it as often as I'd like. Also I've never had a fresh egg and never realized it would taste different haha.
I loved hearing about your ranch life. I am from Montana and I havent had fresh real milk in decades. Nothing better than just stirring the cream back into the milk, and drink up while its still warm from the cows. I used to do that on, my grandparents farm. Oh and farm fresh eggs to absolutely die for! I did get fresh eggs from friend, who lives in Arlington, Texas a suburb of Dallas. She had a coop full of laying hens, and her neighbors would gather up eggs for anybody that was visiting the home owners in the neighborhood. Okay I confess married to a city boy. Who could not understand why I would collect egg cartons and take them to my friend in Arlington. I told him, city boy don't question the behavior of country folks. I did tell him, why though afterwards. Then when we got to my friend's house, he saw how happy she was to get the egg cartons. He said, I am surprised its not something I ever thought to do. My friend's sister down the street dug up callas for me, and hubby said oh that's like begging. I told him, nope that's what we do out in the country. They were so nice about 2 foot high already, she dug them up and put them in boxes with dirt. I have them until now, and they get taller than my runty self at just a smidge over 5 ft. For hubby, his on a learning curve originally from Egypt. So after 30 some years of marriage and being in the states, I am still surprising him. Honestly fun to mess with a city kids mind, keeps me busy and young mentally. So if you can imagine our 3 sons raised in the city, and talk like country boys love fishing and out doors. My youngest son purposed to his wife on one of the highest peaks in Colorado, he married a country girl too.
oh the yolk in a fresh farm egg has an amazing taste and the yolk is actually almost orange color.
I am very patient when I need to be, BUT BHH is testing my resolve. Although I had practice on my siblings. If they pissed me off, I might get even in a minute, an hour, next day or a month later. So the perpetrator, who got me annoyed would watch their back waiting for pay back. I never forgot a wrong or annoyance, once they relaxed, forgot and I had a plan. Revenge was done with gusto. BHH got of light with his birthday cake having laxatives in it or coals in this stocking. LOL Now you know why I had the username Shortnsassy before.
Just wanted to peek in and say Hi! Sorry I am gone so much. Babysitting and kidney stones! What fun! Sorry I missed Morostide with you guys and gals! I try to get in here every chance I can.
Life is short... Count your Blessings, Love your family and friends and lend a helping hand whenever you can!

: I would love your ranch. Though I'm currently working in health care, I have no time to do any farm work now, but as a child, adolescent and young adult, I worked on several farms involved with livestock to row crops to vineyard and viticulture work. I know where our food comes from and I deeply appreciate all the hard work that is needed to produce it.
Inktober is finished and there is a Video Of All This Year's Ink Drawings that were drawn about little ME! Go Check It Our on Youtube Bears!!
waves like mad lol Yes, I do suppose that is a true saying: "You don't know what you are missing!" lol I would love to have everyone try a fresh egg, just once. They are just....different. Such a lovely thing, even tho it seems such a tiny thing...lol
- now that is neat, that you married a city boy! How much fun you both can have teaching each other ways of life! :D And there is just nothing like produce, meat, etc. that come from free range, and organic farming! YUM! We are spoiled, I know. Hard work, but oh so worth it!
- same here. When I was working, there was no time to take part in the majority of farm work. I still was able to help with certain aspects, but not as much as I wanted. I grew up on a medium sized farm, so the lifestyle is familiar to me, just on a much larger scale now. I love country living, and I adore all our extended family!

Our sons have been raised with world and national views, are boys are well rounded and outspoken. I would love a fresh steak directly from a family farm. I remember all the great meals we had at my grandparents farm. They butchered all their own animals, even ground their own sausage and made their own cheese and butter. I am drooling thinking about it. Our group is like a family that chats about everything. We help each other with events, achievements, forum posting achievement, battling. Our group has all ages, and cultures. Ping me if your still interested in our group I am one of the admins.
