And I'm down in the valley. Right next to the tracks. 😬 All of SKC is just kinda ugh...too many people. I want to move somewhere more rural (honestly, the Tri-Cities really call to me; guess why) but I know I wouldn't get along with the prevailing political climate in such areas. I would just have to lay low and keep to myself, which I do anyway, but smaller towns have a way of insisting on getting to know newcomers (and shunning them if they don't fit in and show up at church on Sunday). Please, I just need to get to Mars...come on, Elon...lol

I'd love some things about Ellensburg too...great rockhounding around there. Ellensburg blue agate, geodes, even gold. But yeah, same problem. I'd probably have trouble fitting in anywhere where the biggest event of the year is a rodeo lol. I just need to get stupid rich so I can afford a self-sufficient underground lair in the middle of a desert.
Still no eggs and I've spent hours grinding away in the coli this week. I really freaking hate RNG. I do have a few Nocturne eggs stowed away, might just have to hatch one of those. It's not the same as getting an egg during the event though. 😞

Oh that's awesome! Have you gone rockhounding around here much? Red Top is the main place I was thinking of over in that direction. It's really well-known and picked over but it was still fun to dig around.
Oof, that's tough, hope you find some more like-minded folks to surround yourself with (or if they're family you want to keep around...I hope they see the light! haha I know the struggle though, my mom was conservative and religious and like, everything I'm not...fortunately, my dad's pretty progressive). In the past I would have thought keeping to myself in a conservative area would be good enough but after watching the events of this year unfold I just don't think it would even be safe. Just the anti-mask stuff alone is like...aaaaghhh these people are criminally stupid.
RNG=Random Number Generator, basically the algorithm that makes chance events occur, like eggs appearing in coli loot. Eggs are actually available at all times from the coli and from Gathering (Scavenging). I don't think the chances are higher during events or anything. I've just decided to make myself miserable by creating a tradition for myself of finding and hatching an egg during every festival. X'D I then give that dragon the festival familiar and consider it a flight rep, even if it's not technically the correct element. So far, the only festival in which I've failed to gather an egg was the Ice one. Light's not looking too good for me either though.
If you're interested in hunting for eggs, you can narrow down what element you might receive by Scavenging in that flight's location. Eggs from the coli could just be anything though since creatures of all elements show up in all the venues.

I haven't ever gone specifically rock hunting but over the years I have a pretty good sized pile of "pretty" rocks. lol Rocks, bugs, weeds, they all intrigue me. :-P
Yes it's tough being liberal in a pocket of conservatives. You're lucky your dad is progressive! and at least my conservative hubs is behaving and wearing his mask. Well, now ya have to. Yeah!! I've been making some cute ones - if we're in for the long haul I might as well cute ones right? :-D
I have a handful of eggs in my hoard and always wondered where they came from!! I need to check and see what eggs are dropped in each venue. I'm so daft- I just recently realized my DERGS could win in a venue above their level.. eye-roll at myself
Everyone should have a pile of pretty rocks! If you're interested, I can tell you about a couple good places that are not too far away. If you like fossils, you can find clamshells in a roadcut near Lake Sammamish. Just right there on the side of the road in the middle of everything, it's pretty neat. Bugs and weeds are cool too. lol

Oh, I know, I'm definitely lucky in that regard! I loved my mom because she's my mom, ya know, but to be frank, I don't know how my dad (this sounds awful) put up with her. X'D I don't know how anyone does it, tolerating a partner with such opposite viewpoints. I guess politics weren't SO divisive in the past, I don't know, but these days I can hardly stand to be in the same room as a conservative, let alone consider living with one. I also used to strive to be extremely tolerant of practically every opinion as long as it didn't actively hurt anyone but I've run up against the "paradox of tolerance"...and also my patience for terrible opinions is just wearing thin. Anyway, good job keeping your hubby muzzled hahaha (I bet that's how he sees it) sorry and that's awesome that you're making your own masks! I'm sort of a mild prepper and also have hobbies that require PPE so I already had some N95s on hand. I was wearing a mask even back when the WHO and CDC advised against it (remember that? seems so long ago) because I was following this outbreak when it was still confined to China and I know masks have already been proven to be useful there in combatting viral epidemics...funny how these freedom-loving independent thinkers didn't go against official recommendations back then and actually wear masks, y'know, just to stick it to the man. They think they're being rebellious and eXeRcIsInG tHeIr rIgHtS now but they're actually just adhering to outdated bad advice and the actual government conspiracy that attempted to prevent a run on safety supplies so the greedy jerks in charge could artificially restrict distribution and profit off of them ...good job guys, way to prove you're not sheeple. Anyway, sorry for the rant. Oooohh they just make me so mad though, it really steams my hams. X'D
Nice! Yeah, they probably came from the coli or gathering. Sometimes the coli prize images lag for me and I don't always see what I get from each battle, probably happened to you. I hatched one of my Nocturne eggs and got this hot mess with which I was thoroughly dissatisfied (seriously RNG, what are you doing to me?)...

It is usually pretty laid back where I live. Somewhere over 100,000. People seem more interested in food....you would have to expect strangers in grocery lines to talk to you about what you are cooking, how your day is going, where did you get the dye for your blue hair, what are you making with your chicken/crawfish (whatever you are buying)? As long as you have a mask on you should be alright. I had a sister-in-law who hated the "chatting" so much, she moved several states away, lol. Oh, and you have to watch out for drunk drivers....so there is that.

I still can't wrap my head around the CDC and WHO advising against masks. I was wearing them back then too. And I had a stash from 4 or 5 years ago for my allergies. I ordered some online and unknowingly got N95's and was kind of pissed they weren't just plain ole cleaning masks. LOL! So that's what my hubs has been wearing and my daughter and I have been wearing the cute cloth ones I bought back then. I ordered nose wires and they're supposed to be here today so then I can finish up the ones I've sewn. Yes, there def are some kooks around!! I'm not going to type the rest of what I think about them.

I've been having a blast updating some of my "dergs" today! Bought a few new genes and changed a bunch of their apparel. I was trying not to breed so I can hatch some new ones and now I have 3 pairs in the Nesting grounds. :-D
Where do you live? I've noticed people sure are chatty around her with the mandatory mask law we just got. People never used to talk to me in a grocery line and now they all do! :-D

Not gonna lie, I'd hate all those chatty strangers too lol. It sounds like a nice place but I can only tolerate a certain amount of that sort of small talk, especially if it's gossipy or nosy. It doesn't happen a lot here (guess that's the "Seattle freeze") but the first time I went into a store since covid, the lady in line behind me did strike up a conversation with me about our reusable bags (which I had decided not to use so as not to get them contaminated, and then she kind of freaked out about whether or not she should use hers) and that was understandable since times are weird and it's natural to want to talk about it. That was decidedly unusual here though, at least for me. I generally try to radiate all the charisma of a cactus so people will keep their distance. XD
Definitely! Do you know of any spidery or webby apparel? The only one I know of is the Conjurer's/Magician's Cobwebs. Not really trying to make him spooky though, just going along with the Spidey theme. I'm probably asking for a lot; they don't exactly have the variety of apparel we have here yet lol.

Yeah, I'm extremely disappointed about how those agencies initially handled the whole thing. I'm someone who does generally mostly trust scientists and health authorities (not 100% unquestioningly, but you know, I like to think they try to do their best) and that really shook me because I knew they were giving incorrect advice and I'm pretty sure they knew it too. Can't trust anyone anymore and I hate it. There's also the fact that the general public is really bad at interpreting studies. Like, when a conclusion states "we find no evidence at this time for the efficacy of masks" most people just hear "oh they proved they don't work!" when they should understand that to mean their usefulness simply wasn't proven yet by this particular study and further investigations absolutely could lead to different conclusions. And then when those recommendations change, people think it's all just wishy-washy BS when it's just a fact that our understanding of things can evolve. People really need to be better at critical thinking.
Anyway... Rocks! There's a place called Hansen Creek only about an hour from here that has quartz and amethyst points (so I hear...I've only gotten up there once so far and only found clear quartz...I was planning a trip back there this year with my sister and niece but you know how 2020 is). It's a little tricky to find since you basically just park at a bend in the road and proceed up a long unmarked trail...I wasn't at all sure I was in the right place until I got to the end of the trail and found a bunch of holes other people had dug. You can find directions online and go by my pictures to find the right spot. (I hope this album link works.) The stuff I found is tiny but I got up there late and didn't get to spend much time. Some people have supposedly found some really nice stuff there.
Red Top Mountain is another collecting site full of craters left by previous hunters, north of Ellensburg and not too far from Liberty. It's been quite a few years since I was there but as I recall, it was hard to pick up a rock that didn't have tiny geodes or blue agate nodules in it but it takes a lot of hunting to find stuff you really want to take home. Mostly because people have been carrying material out of there by the bucketload for decades, but I'm sure there's still more to find.
I can also attest to the presence of lots of agates and carnelian in Chehalis. Unfortunately, I don't know of the best public collecting area since I found it in a creek running through an RV park (Thousand Trails) but I assume it could be found in other nearby creeks.
My favorite places are a bit further away though, in Central Oregon, mostly near Prineville. I got tons of calcite crystals, limb casts, big chunks of agate and quartz and serpentinite.
A weed journal sounds like a lot of fun! It also sounds like something that could lead to some confusion in conversation but I assume you mean like dandelions lol. That could actually be useful in tracking noxious weeds though. I seem to recall scotch broom was a much bigger deal around here years ago...can't really say I've noticed any recently. Let me know if you see any, I'm just curious now. XD

I was wearing a mask way before others and I was ridiculed a few times. I'm normally so feisty but I've learned to realize you can fight with stupid people. It's a shame they put the misleading mask info out there. At least I feel vindicated. :-P

Yeah the weed journal is kind of a personal joke. Cause it's about noxious weeds and not fun weed. :--D I remember my parents always sighing and saying "it's the scotch broom" when our allergies were acting up. And you're right, I rarely see it anymore. If at all now that I think about it!! I bet I-5 near and south of Olympia we would see some. I got a really cool app called PictureThis and it can identify plants. I wouldn't say it's amazing but it's about 50/50 of a bit better. It keeps identifying my pepper plant as basil. lol

Another idea would be to look for an accent. If the accent is for another species, you could ponder to change your draggie to it or ask the releaser if they would try to gather interest for the same accent in your species.

Wow, Tabby turned out amazing! You did a great job finding the potential in her colors and she looks really happy surrounded by her cats. :D I need to get some of those cats...I'm guessing they're gem items or I'd have some by now. Baldwin needs to discover how to brew cats. Congrats on the Primal eyes too! I still only have one that I've hatched myself and his colors are inconvenient but I love him anyway. I did at least manage to find an accent that kind of works to tie him together.

Man, that sucks. I luckily haven't had any bad encounters with anyone yet but I have really kept my public contact to a minimum...it's probably bound to happen eventually. The worst I've gotten is some weird looks but I'm used to not really fitting in so whatever.
Oh neat! Let me know if you actually go out there and find any and make anything with them. They are indeed perfectly suited for jewelry making. I hardly ever wear jewelry but I was considering making a pendant out of the best one because it would be cool to wear something I found but I'm not sure how best to go about it. If I used an end cap on it, do you know if people usually use some kind of adhesive to secure it? In my limited experience with cheap findings they can be kinda janky and I would hate to lose my crystal.
You're probably right about where to find the scotch broom now. My friend said she knew some people who got paid to cut down scotch broom and they were working out near Elma. I didn't understand why anyone would pay people to harvest weed bushes because I didn't know it was considered noxious at the time and she told me some story about people paying big money for it to make actual brooms out of. Knowing what I now know about my fact-challenged former friend, this was probably baloney lol. But I do believe there is an eradication program that may pay people to remove it.
That app sounds really cool! I'd love to try it out maybe when it gets a little more accurate. There's a bot in the mycology subreddit that's really good at identifying photos of mushrooms people post. I wouldn't trust it as far as what's safe to eat but it's still great for learning. I don't need an app to help me differentiate between my pepper plants and basil though. Pepper plants will be the ones that are still alive. My basil always, ALWAYS dies. ._.
Wow those are awesome accents and I got super excited about them! Unfortunately, the webby one is for females and my derg is a male. And neither one seems to be readily available onsite. I did look up both of the users but there aren't any on the AH and I'm too chicken to inquire about reprints lol. I appreciate your effort in tracking those down though and I'll keep an eye out in case they turn up for sale.
