Wednesday was an Ethiopian Holiday called Sigd. In our school today there was Sigd holiday celebration Day and the Ethiopian teachers and many of the Ethiopian parents came with Traditional foods and clothing and activities were made {I had the name label station: helping the kids write their name in Amharic (I had a paper from which to work; no, I do not read Amharic)}. I said How come we didn't bring in the Americans and have a Sigd Thanksgiving Day? :D

Well, my youngest brother came through with his promise. He gave some money to partially pay for new glasses. So I also intended on using my benefits for a backup pair.

I had to go to the dentist in a shopping centre and it was packed for Black Friday (even though we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia?!) but the car park was so full....we had to park on the top floor which is normally pretty empty.

So, Luminaire starts tomorrow, and Fireside will still go on for a week. I'll be so torn as to which holiday style to dress my HA! (Am I the only one that has to go look it up to know how to spell Luminaire?)

In the real world, now that Thanksgiving is over, I'm ready for all things Christmas! I had gingerbread men and "Christmas Morning" tea blend (black and jasmine green by Stash) for breakfast and will decorate today or tomorrow. Anyone else decorating yet? My Christmas cards went out in the mail the day before Thanksgiving (so that they'll arrive the first of December), all of Bryan's gifts are bought, and I know what we're getting for everyone else. Come on Christmas, I'm ready! How about you?

That's great about your glasses out-of-pocket price! My latest pair (the ones I got without bifocals) weren't covered by my insurance as they'll only pay for two pairs a year, so the glasses were over $500 out-of-pocket. (My vision is very poor, and the lenses are extortionately expensive.)

Not being on here long, I don't notice people quitting, but I have been impressed by how many of the regular players have been here for years. (Don't you be thinking of quitting -- I just got here!)

I'm addicted to making HAs now, especially for holidays. I keep getting new Fireside pieces and have to try them out! Your new one is great! 22° C is about as hot as I want it to be. When it reaches 89°F/27°C, I'm done! How hot does it get during the summer for you? We had several 100°F/38°C days this past summer and I was miserable!

Ingira (A flat sort of pancake/bread), some delicious (spicy!) lentil dish, doba (a type of bread), Doba coolo (misspelling likely), the bread made into tight light balls, good for long treks as it doesn't mold. Cool! Which languages do you speak? I knew Spanish fluently until we moved to Israel. I spoke French after high school but not so much anymore. I have tried Arabic but only manage to retain 3-4 sentences. Bah! My sponge got old.

With a little help from my visiting cousins, I have begun a first step towards building the castle project. We separated all the grey elements, and I can start tinkering.

The basis of the story behind the model is a chemist/alchemist who blew up his lab. He didn't know the effects of highly reactive substances...too much sodium stockpiled on a dark and stormy night...

I didn't say I was quitting. I just wonder how people manage not to get addicted, no matter how...unpleasant...things might be.
