I did, and I took your advice on board for the ones that are still being discussed, but felt it would be disingenuous to ask everyone to vote and then scrap everything and begin anew. More than a quarter of the group said that was their preferred ping, almost double the next closest option... and if it does turn out to be rubbish, we can delete them all and try something else of course! All it would cost us would be my labour.

About three months! I was asked to get a move on (the discussion was up for a couple of months before I ever started posting plan proposals) so there would be ample time to get the NVLB veterans pre-registered ahead of the holiday frenzy. We're also all going to be busy with Subeta Holidays basically from now until New Years Celebration ends, so perhaps the idea was to finish it while I had time to make the inevitable edits. :D

Tabernak! did I find that out the hard way... Not just for mobiles (though I hadn't thought of that part); it also ends the ping code at the punctuation (and pings whatever group that is - sorry #butt!). ¬_¬

Re: Shark/Raven vs. Carch/Fever Do you guys search for your skins by name primarily, or do you look at the pictures? Should I make a poll for this?

i generally search by name, at least to quickly skim down the page to the right spot, then look for the skin visually. but it really depends what kind of outfit i'm making and if i'm looking for a specific skin, or just browsing for something fun to play with. for survival i have a set of outfits already made that i can wear or take off depending on what i need to bite with, but i have the strain name in the description of my outfit, so i'm still referencing that to some extent.

That's me too, especially during Survival. I have to pick one, I guess, I just can't decide which is more convenient: "Know that 'sharkbites' starts with a C, scroll to near there and look for a shark" "Scroll to near the C's, and know that 'carchbites' means to look for the shark."

A good minority of people seem to want to just literally use the beginning N digits of the strain name, though: that's probably for ctrl+F "carch" and going straight down? 'molebites' would have to go back to the saucy 'nakedbites' though for a ctrl+f standard. aaargh XD

There's a saying: You can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time. When creating a system, it's better to have it work efficiently rather than base it on popularity. I have an MLIS (Master of Library and Information Studies) whereby some of my advanced classes were cataloging. It's very challenging to categorize, so much so that most of my classmates only survived the first class and avoided anything to do with it afterward.

I get time and energy have been spent, but there are issues and best take a few steps back rather than have to go back when things are more complicated & more people signed up. Moreover, I'm taking the time to help out... so it's not about whining and expecting others to fix things... I'm about lending a hand & helping. If you're concerned you'll be too busy later on, I can volunteer to make the groups although I won't be able to run them.

NOTE: I'll probably be doing a test ping of all the groups together in a few weeks (and again right before Survival) to make sure everybody's getting the pings they want, and they're all working as intended. I'll give a warning a couple of days in advance in case you'd like to turn off your notifications beforehand.

What's the ping for muerte fuerte? I can't find it.

Likewise, the pings for boobotis and barnankles are very hidden in your posts. It would take some time, but I would recommend creating a post that has them all written out like this:

That way, no one had to decipher any weird ping names. You also don't have to worry about editing it later and pinging people. They can be ordered by the order of the skins in the wardrobe (so people can quickly scroll down both lists). And people can also Ctrl+f for missing ones (like muerte fuerte). Having both the user created as well as official site names (Fevermore & song) is necessary as well for all the newcomers who need quick identification. If you plan on rolling this out before survival, this is a necessity.

Hopefully this list makes it easier in the future to copy/paste it places.

The whole thing is definitely a tad overkill, but it's infinitely easier than trying to maintain an entire biting list yourself.

I plan on repurposing the spoilers from the original list - keep the spoilers but they'll have the ping groups instead and the people who need the achievements. I should make that soon to get critiques since I will have to explain their purpose.
