In case you guys aren't watching [topic not found] : voting on the 2019 strain names is kicking off, but there's going to be precious little time between when the names are decided and when the new batch strains are going to be virulent, so it's time to start thinking about four new ping groups!

Luckily, it's only four this time. I might split this off into a new topic if a big discussion kicks off (no reason not to make a new thread each year for it!)

Yep buzzkill and grosseries look like they'll be certain. For the others the ones I thought were popular are not. XD

If you missed the news announcement, the (official site) polls are open! I'm not positive about the end-time: the news says they'll "probably" close the poll before the strain ends, but user voting is traditionally finished long, long before then (it becomes infectious for biting at stage 6 - about 24 hours before it "ends" and like 36 hours before they're usually skin-ed).

: it might even out once a wider sample has finished voting but the pre-poll front runners aren't all winning now: Lobotomeat is ahead but it's a very tight race right now ("Mindscrew" is only third). As of this time-stamp, it's: Buzzkill (51%); Grosseries (51%); Lobotomeat (39%); The Vapors (34%).

I really hope steam buns doesn't win, it doesn't make sense for the strain at all, there's steam for sure, but no buns, and the avatar's 'buns' aren't even steamed!

yea i think Buzzkill and Grosseries are sure winners the other ones seem to each have 2 really names pretty close together with votes

Polls are going to close in 24hrs, around noon. The strains will be able to be bitten tonight when s6 happens (around 11pm). So for now, everyone will just have to refer to the colors until it's finalized. :) Rah edited the news post to make it clearer.

I'm holding out for Steamed Buns to pull through as I suggested it and that would just be so fucking exciting to have something in site lore/vernacular ;-; I think it's a cute name and suits better than vapors, but that's just my slightly biased opinion. Also, who's to say the butt wasn't all puffy as well? Maybe we just couldn't see it because it's on the backside of the HA. It'll all be effected by the end anyway ;)

I was really hoping something would overtake Grosseries. It's just ... been done so much already!

thanks! i'm a sucker for double entendres XP i'm still flipping out a little that an actual fucking steamed bun has emerged from the mist lolol maybe i have prophetic powers i never knew about...

yeah i think we could have had something with a similar vibe maybe, but subtler? even if it had the 'grocer' spelling instead of 'grosser' then the pun would've done the rest of the work shrugs i don't mind it tho. i really liked Vegebite, that was probably my fave suggestion!

i tried really hard to think of something for yellow but i came up blank u_u i'm intrigued to see how that one turns out the most i think.
