Haha, it did. I think I just misread your posts the first time I looked at that P&B thread.
Yeah, I can't even imagine someone like Paramnesia Recycle Beast's speed scaling. It's already at 9,000. We'd all just be annihilated D:
Yeah, exactly. And the special community opponents tend to have pretty high speed too. Not that theirs would scale anyway, since you don't really "beat" them like the other opponents. But anyway, it makes a lot more sense now why some battlers would aim for a certain amount of speed in their final build.
I'm still not sure exactly where I want everything to end up myself, but this gives me something new to consider, at least.
I think my post was confusing on the p&b thread, because it both did and didn't award it right haha. Like, technically it was wrong but not really because only the stats page actually recorded the right stats haha
I didn't think of it that way, but I can see how that info is pertinent for final speed builds. Hopefully no one is caught unaware now :P That's also why Crimsyn has an extra 1 in her speed so she doesn't have a speed tie with anyone who has 7k speed.
LOL! You did explain it as best you could, which is why I understood it the second time around when I read it more carefully :D But I think now that it's happened enough times to me personally, I know exactly what you were talking about.
Yeah, I had seen quite a few pets with speeds like that, but somehow I still never put together that speed didn't scale. Or really think about it at all, lol. Like I realized health and stuff scaled, but I just didn't connect the dots for speed.
Well it's never too late to learn something new ~
Haha, that's why I always consider battling a community effort, there are just too many nuances to learn everything by yourself. And we're all better battlers for it :P
Having just read the last few posts, I've realized I shouldn't have stopped adding to Galaxielle's speed at 3000 (it's all come from boosters since).
I think she has some catching up to do.
Oh, I definitely agree. It was confusing enough to get into battling even with the weapon, scroll, and challenger guides put together by other users. I probably would have just given up if I had to figure out everything on my own.
I've found the battling community here to be really helpful and encouraging towards new players or even older players who are new to battling. It's nice to have a reliable place to ask questions about how things work without feeling silly for not understanding something.
For sure :) I think I read every guide and still asked a ton of questions, haha. Then one day you find you're the one answering the questions :P
I find battling very confusing at the best of times. I still have no idea what I'm doing
Yeah, I'm beginning to understand that not everyone who battles regularly 'gets it.' I have a friend who does BQs everyday, has some pretty nice weapons, whose pet is well into T13, and she still tells me she doesn't get it. I'm just not sure where the disconnect is.
Doing my BQs, trying to lure out Ice King one last time and
You Won! You have defeated Saggitarius
Longshot earned 900 EXP Points!
Yay! Wasn't sure I could manage that one, but I got him after a few tries.
I'm really liking this zero speed thing. Now I just need to make the poor guy smarter cause I miss chain freezing.
I’m not sure any of it is a good change! I’m pretty terrible
I think maybe it's because there is a lot to it? Especially when it comes to stats and what each one does, and how it works...like how much damage can you do when your strength is this high. That's what always gets me
I think if you're lucky enough to have some nice weapons from the beginning, it could maybe hurt with having to come up with strategies yourself because you just get used to beating your opponents into oblivion without much effort. Even without that, I think it's possible for people to move up through the ranks and just follow the suggestions of getting certain weapons without understanding why those weapons are good. They just see them mentioned in the guide so they use them and that combined with some luck allows them to still make it pretty far.
Not that that's a bad thing, but I can see how it's possible without really understanding how icons work or why certain weapons are better against certain opponents depending on what kind of damage that opponent does. I still feel like I don't understand all of it sometimes, but I have a much better grasp than I did when I started.
There really is a lot of stuff involved with battling, and for some people it can just be overwhelming. But it's still possible to be pretty good even just following advice from others.
You look faintly familiar. Def recognize your forum art. Where the hell have you’ve been. Pokémon battling or what??

Those are all great points. I'm just confused as to why some people can't see why something isn't working and what they can do to overcome it, you know? Maybe they just haven't taken the time to experiment with things to understand how they work? Strategy isn't something I've ever really struggled coming up with regarding battling so I am lacking in perspective there.
I don't pay too much attention to the numbers, haha, but I am vaguely aware of the formulas. Like, if an opponent is dealing out a ton of dark icons, then I use a dark blocker. And maybe if the opponent blocks a majority of the attack icons on that dark blocker, I may opt for a different dark blocker or another weapon altogether to up my damage amount. My point is that you can totally get through battling without worrying about the numbers so much. If you're still losing, then maybe you need to wait until your stats are higher, but I don't think you have to calculate when that will be, just keep trying occasionally.
You're not terrible. The circumstances in your life may not be ideal, but I don't think that makes you a terrible person. Cut yourself some slack, you're only human. People make mistakes, but you can overcome them if the effort is worth it to you.
Busy with life and work, lurking and not paying anyone else much attention. Trying not to mess too many things up.
I don’t really know who I am any more honestly
That's okay though, soul searching can be very rewarding. There's so much you can learn about yourself when you focus on taking care of yourself for a while.
If this isn't too forward, have you thought about talking to a therapist? They're trained to help you navigate through these emotions you're having.
Yeah, at this point in my battling journey I at least understand when I'm unable to beat opponents it's probably because my stats are too low or I'm lacking the proper weapons. The only real upgrades I feel like I can make right now though are some of the more expensive MC weapons, which will have to wait. So other than that, I just try to keep getting my pet's stats up and probably soon borrowing some stuff to try and earn Cronus Blade and maybe MW this Morostide depending on how well I do against Rouland on my own first.
