You would be able to opt out yes. :D We wouldn't want to become a burden on people and them end up not liking the group. :D
Well hopefully you would like us! You'd be able to opt in and out each month as well if life did become a little too busy for you to read the book. (You could always read out reviews though to see if you would want to down the line!)
Would this work for you by any chance? It allows you to read kindle books without having a kindle. :D

If anyone has a smartphone, they can use that for the Kindle reading app (it's usually what I do just cuz it's easier to take my phone and read when I'm in the waiting room/in the car/whatever than bring my Kindle all the time). There's also an app you can download for PCs. So, you definitely don't need a Kindle to read Kindle books.
Awesome! I joined the group. When do you think you would want to start?
There is also a free web page that can have all your books as well. ;)
I was thinking I would put up a bunch of books for us to vote on tomorrow (since it is Sunday and my day off) and we could use this week to vote on one. Then officially start the reading part on the first? Finals should be over for everyone by then (at least in the US, Canada, and parts of the UK) so it wouldn't interfere for anyone wanting to join.

Ok. Now we need to talk logistics. What are the LIMITS on books? Size wise or otherwise..?
I don't have amazon prime though. It's okay, I don't want to limit peoples' choices for the book club. n__n (though would it be okay if I tried to do a classics book club sister branch or something? o3o)
If anyone's worried about the money side of things and can't easily get to a library, can I suggest the overdrive app?
It allows you to borrow ebooks and audiobooks from your library.
If you don't have a kindle, you can download it on a smartphone or tablet. Or you can get the kindle app on those things too.
You don't need to have Amazon Prime. :D It is just a free way to read free books on amazon. The account sign up is free as well.
However, if you don't want to join us that is fine. We will be doing classics however.
There is also https://read.amazon.com/ which allows you to read kindle books in your browser. :D 100% free, just requires the free amazon account.
Most books on the features list are pretty decent length. Around a 700-1000 page paper back?

Same problem as Lau here. Link isn't working at the moment.
I live like a block from the library and bookstore so I'm good. Thing is I like the physicality of books over reading on a screen/kindle. So.... might have to do the library thing I guess, depending on the book.

I updated the first page to have how everything is going to work. If I forgot something we talked about, let me know!

The link wasn't posted yet because I was still adding links to this page. It wasn't ready to be clicked until this ping happened. For some reason, when I posted, even with the space between the # and Bookies, it still pinged everyone to the first page. Sorry guys.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
They/ThemTrue Calling - 1 Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - 4 Pride & Prejudice - 2 Cause to Kill - 5
My vote is for Cause to Kill.

Ohh I have pride and prejudice on my list to read actually!
