Ah. My freezing item is a one use only! Which pet did you defeat it with?

I haven't tried with my T9 pet but looks like it's quite difficult to get wins on him with an even build T9 because he hits hard and steals and freezes a lot. I do think T10 and T11 pets will have much better chance and less frustration beating him.

However, there is a trick to beat him and it works quite well if you don't mind a lot of losses, that is to keep an Emo Spork in your set for him to steal, then keep your full blockers up until he uses it. You will need a really good blocker to stay alive and must keep him under 99% health at all times though.

Hmm. Well, I guess there's next year haha! I'll just go for the minis achievement for now I suppose ;)

It was with Chums. The other items I mentioned were scrolls, and my set was (I think) 102 AP with two Shrieks (high freeze chance), Psycho Smasher (high freeze), Gale Force (medium freeze chance), Perilous Whirlpool (low? I think), Gelspell (low), and Aftershocks (no freeze). Rapier of Error offers a low chance to freeze as well.

Also, I couldn't beat the Wizard last year at all with Chums. So keep training and you will be able to smack him around next year.

Yeah, it's a good idea to keep beating the minis to get the achievement prize. I actually beat the Wizard using that sword + paintbrush blades (won from Sophie, who is unlocked by using the - you can keep an eye out for this item in this year's Black Friday sale, even though you might have to wait until T11 to beat her 5 times) + Rapier of Error + Sierrac Basal Ice Flail and a bunch of cheap freezing scrolls (Perilous Whirlpool + Gale Force from battle shop). Nothing fancy so I think you can definitely do it next year with a similar setup :)

OHS is great against him because it blocks earth and protects from stealing. I would suggest using the OHS + trident and modding the with bona crystals for the extra protection from stealing. The unstable syringe is also nice for the ice block.

: I don't have OHS. My attack choices include PBB, Trident, RMK, Malhuili, Gelatin Slayer, Rift Staff. Most are modded max with parched baguettes. I managed to get to 8 wins by using RV + IEH first round then chain freezing with despairs and psycho smasher while hitting with aftershocks, Malhuili, and PBB. The other 4 items in my battle set are slots sporks for stealing fodder. Which worked until now, but I can't seem to break through the last 2 battles I need for the concoction.

I forgot how much of a pain that Wizard could be so I went on a reading spree so I could get another freezer scroll into my spells. It's been a while since I've read Kanda any books, so there were lots of event and quest shop ones that I hadn't given him! Got all 10 wins on the Wizard now!

Trident and gelatin slayer are a really good combo. I forgot the slayer actually has 10% heal on it against gelatins so it's almost like having a god dark blocker. Mod them both with blessed armor. Blessed armor protects from stealing and freezing, parched only protects from freezing.

I would advise against using RV the first round since it has a chance to freeze. You can pair IEH with Gel slayer. Also I think it might work if you spread your freezing resources over the course of the fight and use more of them towards the end. BoNAs help for their steal protection so I'd recommend sacrificing a couple Parched crystals for this occasion. Emo Spork is worth it only if you're desperate for wins and have enough full blocks to wait until he uses it. Negating Pylonic is another full block and so is Spacial Abyss paired with Gelatin Slayer.
