I would mod your swash with 1 parched (purely for increased water damage) and 3 crit. Mod your Cronus with two singed and 2 crit. That should have you doing crit damage every few turns. Don't ditch the mecha since that boosts strength and does curse damage for 100 turns so even when you are frozen you are doing damage. My first turn was mecha + bear head bomb + the void. Great for blocking the off chance first turn crit and high chance to freeze. If you don't have the void scroll or bear head bomb, you can use a full blocker. My next turn was then freezer + cronus + infinite attacker scroll
did it happen to anyone else that Hydragellos attack while being frozen and did a critical attack that ended the battle?
I think I read that someone else was having it unfreeze, so they probably meant the same thing that you do. I can't say as I've noticed it? But I've mostly been looking at my own damage dealt.
I thought this guy didn't allow for blessings, so the increased attack and defense from the mecha didn't apply?

Scientist Specs are probably better than Deluxe Death Shard :P for its 2 mod slots and strength boost. As far as I know stat boosts in battle are not the same as blessing, so you can still have your strength boost from mecha :D
I had to take a screenshot :(
But it was frozen, it happened during the shrieks part of the battle and it actually freezed it..
can you check it out please or unless it's not a bug?
The boost from the mecha is a trait of the weapon, not a blessing. The blessing is the increased heal and physical block for a few turns, that is disabled.
Are you saying it attacked while you froze it? Are you sure the shriek froze that round? I had a few rounds where my shriek didn't freeze because there is a 15% chance it won't freeze
You're welcome :) I forgot to mention that the specs deal more damage than the shard too, so an all-around better freezer imho.
Oh yeah? I didn't know that. I figured it was a blessing, because it came with the little ... lion icon. I always thought the little lion icon meant the attack boost, meant a blessing. This is why I hope they're able to add hover info to the blessings and curses. I'll definitely put the mecha back in.
Question - How do the specs compare to the energized helmet? I tried the specs, but they seem ... About the same? Granted, it's fresh from my inventory, so no mods.

Whoops, I disappeared. That's a pretty decent amount! It's exhausting to try and do them all in one year, but at least you can probably finish next time if you do enough now.
And I haven't done any battles yet today, but I'm at like 850k total so far. Not too bad ~
I'm sure, there was the freezing symbol one round before and during the round that it attacked.. It happened to my friend too yesterday
I thought that maybe it's a curse but it's not, I read all the text to check it..
Specs are defo better for boss battles imo. It also has 2 mod slots, same as the helmet. It blocks light and water compared to helmet's biased light block, which the hydra doesn't deal too much. What sets it different (and better) from the helmet is its 50 strength boost and 19 icon-attack. Add a singed baguette and you have a freezer with 24-icon attack. Add a crit mod too or another singed, it's up to you.
I prioritise damage in boss battles, so I prefer the specs over the helmet :D
Thanks, I just did another 200 battles 😛 so that leaves 950 battles for next year. Much more manageable while allowing me time to tend to the quest-a-thon and the hydra too. Why are we having so many things going on at once :O
The mecha boost is for the remainder of the battle, not just a few turns. Nerves of steel (the lion icon) is the blessing that gives you +7 physical blocks and 150HP but the only lasts for a few turns.
The helmet is only better when blessings are enabled and it grants an extra turn of freeze protection.
Okay, so bringing back the mecha, swapping the helmet for specs. Adding in some singed and crit mods.
Anything else I should add? My mecha is completely unmodded.

I mod mine with 1 singed 1 crit. Just because I want to make sure I'll have 2-3 crit mods across my weapons in any given turn. You can slot 2 singed baguettes on it for extra damage if that's what you prefer :D
I think it depends on what you use in the same turn with the mecha. In regular battles I tend to mod singed or parched for the curse or blessing to activate (for boss, I'd go with all singed). However if you use another weapon with some decent damage in the same turn I think crits or a combination of crit + singed can be another option.
