Drew smiled and thanked Millie() again for all her help before the girl moved on to the newcomers. He wondered about the pale boy that seemed to have everyone’s attention at the moment. ()Drew couldn’t help but smile at the thick accent. He loved listening to the different accents and there was quite a variety in this one room alone. That made the boy wonder if he still had an American accent. He’d tried hard to become British in the past two years. Well British with a dash of Scottish, otherwise his Mum and Uncle would disown him. Still it was hard to undo nearly twelve years in only two.

Going over to the food tables, Drew selected a bit more food, by hand this time. He wanted to sample a little of everything, but didn’t want to seem greedy, even though he did love eating as much as any teenage boy. A waffle with berries and whipped cream found its way onto his plate. Then he grinned at the sight of more familiar foods. He decided to save the chowder for later if any was left, but his sweet tooth zeroed in on the maple syrup candy. Taking a piece, Drew popped it in his mouth and relished the sweetness, the taste bringing back memories of his family’s trip to Vermont. He closed his eyes for a moment and then took a deep breath and reminded himself of where he was and where he’d always wanted to be. Opening his hazel eyes, he placed two more pieces of candy on his plate, took a glass of cranberry juice, and returned to his seat.

There he sat, munching quietly and watching and listening to the older students who were already well acquainted with each other. The discussion about the magical creatures and the Forbidden Forest had Drew’s eyes lighting up. He loved most animals and longed to see some of the ones had mentioned. But NOT the spiders!!

As Merlin tried out his new look, Drew grinned. It wasn’t too bad, but personally he preferred the longer, more flowing robes of Hogwarts, and a long cloak was better both for the cold and for looks to his mind.

And don't worry, I'm rubbish at Divination too. I used to predict that I would befall an untimely death all the time for Professor Trelawney's class."

"The short capelet is cute on you Merlin ()! It might be nicer when it's warm out though. Beauxbatons must be kept very warm for its students to be attired that way even in the mountains during the winter."

Merlin sighs. "Well I stayed around just to make sure you were ok and no more troubles happen - I'm a prefect after all, but I didn't do it because I am a prefect but because I was worried about you. Don't go thinking everyone will judge you because of your condition, we all have issues and things that get out of our comfort zone and make us...behave unexpectedly." Merlin laughed. "I should have given you something with meat maybe? Yucca is a root that is edible, you can make many things with it, and its very delicious to me. You can even make bread with it. I don't think they taste anything like potatoes but can be prepared in many ways like them, boiled, fired, baked- you name it!"

Merlin nods a bit. "I like it, but must say after giving it a look..I think the long robe looks nicer, I just prefer this short one for walking on the err..woods. I hate when my robe gets stuck on roots and branches..or worse spines! I also hate how dirty it gets with the ground, especially if it rains." He gave it a second look to his cute cape and then turn to his old clothes again. "Maybe I just need to improve my magic skills...or better yet my sewing skills which are non existent."

He caught a boy he didn't know glance at him so he smiled tentatively "She is, isn't she? She makes quidditch supplies so I think she's pretty good at knowing quality things."

Magnus nodded. "Sorry, Merlin... I shouldn't've jumped to conclusions. I guess... I 'ave me own issues. But thank you, very much for your concern. I really do appreciate it and for your understanding." He gave a warm smile and relaxed. "Yeah, meat is highly needed unfortunately. I'll never be able to be a vegetarian, my protein needs are too high."

Ariette smiled carefully at the prefect, and politely declined looking a little embarassed "That's very kind of you to offer Signorina, but I am not hungry. Thank you for the offer however" She looked on in concern at the shockingly gaunt Magnus before laughing at one of his comments "Angry! There are Slytherins with bigger anger issues than you, signore. Why, I remember a certain silver-haired housemate of ours threatening to kill me." She rooted around her pockets before pulling out a large box of chocolates, shoving them excitedly in Magnus' direction "A bit of chocolate will do you a world of good Signore, here take these! I always have some on hand in case Blair shows up but I'm sure she won't mind eating her own. We must look after our own, after all. Speaking of Blair, where is she---"

"Signore Merlin, I'd like to lend you a helping hand with any alterations if you are amendable. With unruly familiars, Gryffindor best-friends, and fashion-obsessed sisters, I have had my fair share of altering clothes"

Magnus' eyebrow arched but he didn't ask for clarification. "Guess we all 'ave anger issues--just some are worse than others. Just glad nothing worse 'appened." Like turning into a werewolf and snacking on his classmates--yes this would have been decidedly worse. Then the girl was handing him some chocolate--a large box of it. Seriously what is it with this school? Does everyone have a massive supply of Honeydukes on hand? He chuckled a little and smiled. "Thank you very much," he said making sure to enunciate as clearly as he could. "I'm Magnus, by the way. Magnus Lee." Look after our own? "Are you a..." he dropped his voice, "werewolf?"

"They have sausage and eggs and other heavier breakfast foods. Emmett will talk about that more in a bit"

((ooc - I know, right? I've found programs similar to what I want to study and I think I could get into them. There are two fields I want to study so I need to pick one. One is history and the other is museum studies))

Millie smiled to Drew (), "you're welcome."

"I finally get a name to match to a face signore Lee, a relief indeed. I am Ariette Latimer the Second, because my father thought it was a good idea to copy the first's name", she commented with dripping sarcasm before lowering her voice, "a vampire signore"

She smiled in a way that she hoped was reassuring and continued on "I do hope you'll feel better soon. I know this is rather unorthodox but have you considered an strengthening amulet?", she paused, unsure if Magnus followed the old religions.

((OOC: ooooo that sounds so interesting! I'd love to know how your course turns out! I'm also hoping to do a postgrad classics degree in the future and I'm sure the European courses would be more in depth than Australian ones. May I ask what your favourite area of study is?)

((ooc - - my primary focus is Imperial Russian History and Culture but I worry about it being a practical in the long run. I would like to work in a museum with artifacts, so either a collections manager or curator. There are programs in the US for both Russian History and Museums Studies but I would like to study in Europe for multiple reasons. For current event reasons, I don't think Russia would be a good idea, so I've been looking into UK and Northern Europe))

"Nice to meet you," he said. "Er...sorry you don't like your name." Oh that's so lame, he thought. Another vampire? His heart did an inner squeal because he still really liked vampires. He nodded, unsure how she felt about being a vampire. "Thanks." Then he shook his head. "I'd never 'eard of one before. What does it entail?" He was very curious now.

"I look forward to 'earing about it." The boy grinned. ((sweet. both courses sounds really cool too))

He had been catching up on some extra homework he netted himself thanks to getting caught hiding wet-start fireworks in the prefects bathroom sink. Could have been worse and he had no regrets.

The foods from the tables smelled delicious. Creeping quietly he popped up behind Magnus’s chair. () There was a box of chocolates in front of his friend and he unabashedly plucked one from the box and stuffed it in his mouth not bothering to ask permission. () “Yum, thanks.” Something about the day had him less on edge than usual. Maybe it was all the extra writing.

"'Ey Fade," Magnus said in a slow drawl. "You get out of detention finally?" He gave his best friend a nudge in the ribs.

"It's alright, we all have different food needs. I'm a vegetarian by choice but don't judge those that eat meat, especially if they are part wolf." He winks. "I just feel that if I eat an animal, its like I'm eating my friends." Merlin blushed since his friends were just his pets.

Merlin looked at Ariette and reluctantly replied. "If only my robes were a bit shorter at least, then I could walk freely without getting stuck everywhere, it is a problem since I'm a bit clumsy and end up falling down a lot." Merlin scratched his head. "If you could see my legs, they are full of bruises because of that."

Fade blushed a bit. “You know it.” It really was a shame he had gotten caught. He laughed as Magnus () prodded him in the ribs and gently swatted the other boy’s elbow away. “Woulda walked with you otherwise.” Fade felt a little guilty not being able to be with his friend so soon after his transformation. But he didn’t want to make him feel weak or anything either. Maybe it was better this way.

"That's actually kinda cool," Magnus said to Merlin. "I didn't know, but I respect the choice a lot."

Magnus chuckled. "I still think they made me a prefect to keep me outta trouble. But now I know I can turn it down, we can be back to hijinks. I mean more than i am...cos I'm sooo not up to things..." His eyes twinkled with mischief. "Its okay, I would've slowed you down."

Sauvage pulled herself away from the tables of food, recognizing some familiar voices. She finished the last of her mineral water and walked over to them. "'ello, Magnus! 'ello, Fade! Um..." She looked away, guilty of eavesdropping, but still too curious to avoid asking. "So, uh...what did you do to be put in detention, Fade? And 'ow did you get caught?" She bit her lip. "I don't mean to be rude - and of course, you can not answer. I was just...uh, curious...?"

“Wait what?” Fade’s expression sort of dropped. “You’re guna turn it down? But stuff like that looks good on your record.” He lifted a brow at his friend. “At least I’ll have company in detention.” He smirked and scoffed when Magnus () suggested he would have slowed him down. “Pff, not like I’m worried about getting anywhere on time.”

His stomach rumbled a bit and Fade looked toward the food tables to find walking toward them. His heart immediately jumped into his throat. It had been a while since he had seen her last. Was she talking to him? Oh gods she was asking about his detention. Swallowing his awkwardness he winced. “Er, well nothing really.” His cheeks blushed along with the ends of his hair as he scratched his head. “Just sorta misplaced some wet-start fireworks is all.” The worst part was it was Peeves who ratted him out. Something about not wanting to be shown up or some such rubbish. “That detention though, sure taught me a lesson.” Truthfully his hand was a bit sore. He danced around an actual explanation not wanting to seem like a bigger idiot in front of the pretty transfer student.

Fade started getting all flustered and Sauvage noticed his hair change to match the same pinkish red of his cheeks. Was he embarrassed? She didn't mean to make him blush. Now she was embarrassed! She knew she shouldn't have asked him about it. Now she was just making him uncomfortable. She nodded politely as he tip-toed around his words, obviously not wanting to really talk about it. She'd never been one much for pranks, but her friend Abilio was a master at them. Something about Fade reminded her of her Beauxbatons friend that she never got to see anymore. She tried to think of something else to say, but was at a loss - swimming in emotions: the embarrassment of making Fade uncomfortable; the twinge of sadness for missing Abilio; as well as the guilt of thinking she could replace such a friend.
