A couple of people in the Shoutbox and I have been looking through the archival of old Subeta pet designs and there are a TON of wonderful gems in there. Just take a look at some of these beauties:

The wonderful and talented site artists on Subeta have done a great job of revamping our pets. In the spirit of having a no holds barred good time, though, I would love the option to DEVAMP my pets into these odd, yet charming and cute designs, a la Scribble pets.

I would also love to see DEVAMPS OF NEW PETS! What would an old Noktoa look like? The thought of it just is so funny and cute to me that I'm getting a bit giddy just typing it out. ^^

What are your guys' thoughts?

I LOVE the old Bovyne but tbh the Rreign and Chelon look more like today's Scribble Pets to me so I have no idea how to make a Devamp color without getting too close to Scribble. :o

I think it would be great if the 'Pedia pages for the pets would show how each species has evolved over time.

The idea is nice, but I have to ask: would it mean using the old art then as the "devamp", or essentially redrawing what their original designs were from when they were first introduced? There's also the issue of choosing specifically which old designs to represent; some pets have had multiple iterations (the less spoken about the Rreign, the better).

As a pet color though, especially a "joke" color, it seems mean-spirited (though it is entirely possible I'm being a hypocrite fuddy-duddy).

With Scribble, the artists are in on the joke and it's a chance to be silly and fun. But those original designs were probably drawn in earnest and probably for free. Like, I'm not saying no one can ever laugh at amateur art ever, just that it seems weird to have site-endorsed pointing and laughing. v8v

plus the original styles can vary so much. The original otter and dragon stick out, but you could scroll past all three versions of the Keeto and not realize they're different images. And then there are ones like the Kanis and Mortiking that I think still stand up as good pictures. What style do you mimic for future pets?

I genuinely like a lot of the older ones, not in a mean spirited way. I think a lot of them are adorable even if you consider their quality amateur.

I don't think this coincides with Scribble that much. I used to think Scribble was supposed to be a child's poorly drawn rendition of each pet. I remember there being some that did look like that. But it's now more like an artist tries to draw a picture that looks like it was done by a child but it is still quite neat and well done. These older ones are more like an inexperienced artist tries to draw pets.

I guess my issue with it is the pets that won't have a version that quite matches these, and if the artists can make something for them that fits this kind of art or would it become Scribble 2.0.
