I genuinely like a lot of the older ones, not in a mean spirited way. I think a lot of them are adorable even if you consider their quality amateur.

I should probably clarify that I don't think it's mean-spirited to WANT this color at all, regardless of whether you genuinely like the art or just want to giggle at it.

I just feel like it wouldn't be right for the site to implement it, with that name, and with the intent of creating more images to specifically mimic their inexperience as a joke. Like, I was here when most of those artists were, learning right along side them.

I legitimately love this art, which is why I suggested the idea in the first place. They almost feel like organic, real things because the artist(s) conveyed a personality through the art that not a lot of Common pets have (not that this is a bad thing!). It feels like they had no restrictions with the designs, and they drew exactly what they wanted to draw, if that makes sense?

I don't see the color as a joke color in the same way as Scribble. I see it as looking back to the early 2000s pet sites and celebrating them, because they all pretty much looked like that, haha. It's where we came from.

Do we know if any of these artists still use Subeta? Were you one of them?

I think it would be great if the &;Pedia pages for the pets would show how each species has evolved over time.

The idea is nice, but I have to ask: would it mean using the old art then as the "devamp", or essentially redrawing what their original designs were from when they were first introduced? There&;s also the issue of choosing specifically which old designs to represent; some pets have had multiple iterations (the less spoken about the Rreign, the better).

I second that great idea!

And those are some great questions. I hadn't thought of redrawing the old designs to essentially look the same but have a more experienced take on them, but I really like that idea. But at the same time, I don't think there's the same charm to that as the original drawings associated with it, so I don't think it's the one we should go with. And the multiple iterations is definitely an issue, but I think for the sake of simplicity it's just best to just use the earliest. It could also be left up to a vote, if the Subeta Team is willing to do something like that.

I love this idea! It might leave out a few pets but overall would be fantastic. You could call the potion something like "Back in the Day Potion" haha :) But "Devamp Potion" would be the best name probably.

We've got this suggestion a lot over the years. We've moved on from this art. A lot of it can be 8+ years old, and generally doesn't reflect those species at all (think donadak) and isn't something we really want representing us officially.

We have however given you the tools to do this yourself. You can use this art as a CSS overlay on your pet profiles.
