i hope so ^^ i love small pets, but they can be so jumpy. i'd love one that would chill out with me on my desk, or curl up in my lap, but i know that's asking a lot. but maybe i can get chip to do it! :D

I love small pets too. When I was younger I had a gerbil that would walk into my hand and just go to sleep while I petted her. She was definitely the exception. lol
awwwww sounds so adorable! ___ don't scare Chip doggie

I'm only waiting on one more grade. The only thing I left for the semester is singing at graduation tomorrow with my choir. How have you been?
congrats!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
HugsBack Thank you
Aww Sorry to hear of your Bunny. Hug I keep my pup Luci Lui, in the picture below, inside our home. But Dufas was a stray, he was use to being outside.
Miss him every time I open my front door or arrive home, ... he was always right there running straight toward us Jumping with complete and utter excitement! He'd jump vertical, on all fours.... it was so cute. He really got up high too, was like he had springs on his paws. lol Really miss the lil guy. :(
Time may not heal all wounds, but it does ease them... in time.
Congratulations on your New Job offer. :)
Eek, for too much talking?
Little fuzzies are so sweet... We had a pet rat, and this was back when everyone was tucking in their shirts... Anyway, her favorite thing was to crawl in your shirt and hang out sort of cradled in that tucked in part. It made a perfect little nest for her. She'd hang out happily in there forever!
Only one more grade. So all the other ones were good, then? It's always a relief to be finished.

awww that's adorable! none of my gerbils have done that XD i think it's easier if you have raised them from birth, so they've been handled all their lives. but i don't have the space to have my own litters of critters XD
that does sound like the perfect place for a rat to hang out :3 so sweet!

Yeah I think it really helps to get them when they're little. That particular gerbil actually crawled into my hand and took a nap at the pet store. She was in a aquarium with a ton of other gerbils and I put my hands in to try and pick one and she just walked over, got in my hands and went to sleep. My mom said not to get her because she 'was sick;' but I got her anyways and she lived just as long and healthy as any of the other gerbils I've ever had and kept crawling into my hands and sleeping or just sitting there to be pet. She was definitely special. The first gerbils we ever had were fully adult when we got them and they never really tamed down (my first gerbil was named Chip too). After those first two we always got younger gerbils and that seemed to work out better. But hopefully as you work with Chip he'll grow to like it more and more :)
that's so sweet! and it's great she lived so long too! one of my last gerbils, Storm, was the friendliest of the lot. his brother died about 6 months after i got them (chest infection), so he got all the attention to himself, and was much easier to handle, and when he kept developing lumps on his tummy, he had to get used to being handled loads and held on his back so i could clear the sore bit twice a day. he was so sweet.

I'm sorry to hear your gerbils had those health troubles. I love gerbils. I just like rodents in general really. They're so cute and interesting.
Our Henry was a good cuddler... We got her as an adult (yes, Henry was a she), but that doesn't really count... The sixth grade class at our school did an experiment every year with live rats, and the rats lived in the back of the classroom and got LOADS of attention. The year my middle brother was in 6th, the experiment was to give the rats different kinds of beverages (one got sugar water, one got milk, one got regular water, etc.). At the end of the year, though, the rats need homes... So we begged and begged our mom to let us have one, which she finally agreed to under the stipulation we had to name it Henry or Henrietta. So anyway, we got the sugar water rat. But we liked Henry better than Henrietta, so we used the boy name anyway... But, long story short, she was used to attention, so when we got her, she was a cuddler. And she was a great rat! My mum always said since she got sugar water, she'd probably have a short life. But we continued to give her alternate beverages (she always had water, but we would put a milk cap in her cage, filled with soda sometimes, or other little treats), and she still lived a long life... Rats are supposed to live 1-2 years, or 5 years for an oldie, but Henry passed away when she was 6 or 7! So I dunno, maybe the sugar actually extended her life :O

maybe it was just having a good caring home, it can make all the difference ^^ i had some really old goldfish because i took really good care of them ^^ but that's nice they let the kids keeps them as pets afterwards
yeah, it's so hard when they get health problems, luckily the vet in my village is excellent (people come from miles around to get to it :P), and they will treat small pets. i lost 2 gerbils to chest infections, and 2 to cancer. the hardest was my Storm, who survived 2 operations to remove lumps from his tummy, but then got a brain tumour. the vet was amazing though, it was obvious that he wasn't going to make it, but she gave me painkillers for him, and told me to bring him back in 3 weeks, and it gave me time to say goodbye to him and enjoy the last of our time together. it was just particularly hard because i'd had to handle him so much because of his tummy lumps. i still miss him to be honest, even though it was 3 years ago and i have 2 other gerbils!

Rats are great critters! I'm so happy Henry had such a long and loving life :D I had a course in collage where I had to train a rat. I named her Zoey she was a wiz. At the end of the class we could adopt our rats but unfortunately I wasn't in a position where I could keep her. I felt so bad leaving her behind. I tried to get a friend to take her but she couldn't get over the idea that rats are 'gross;' and then like a month later she bought to rats from the pet store; I was sooo pissed.
That must have been just awful hugs All the gerbils I had I think just died of old ages. One day they were happy little critters running around the cage and the next morning it looked like they were sleeping but they weren't. I don't care how small a pet is they're a part of the family and hurts like crazy to loose them.
awww, at least if that was the case they wouldn't have suffered! ugh, i love chip, but he's so destructive! i had to order a new cage for him because he's already chewed a hole in his current cage! i've not even had him a week! the new one will be all metal, so if he chews through that i do not know what to do!!!
[ToT=omiai] [egg=omiai] [tp=omiai]
Hopefully the metal cage will be enough. If that fails...? Maybe a really big glass aquarium? But you'll have plenty of other things for him to chew on and wear his teeth down. Maybe that's the trick just distract him with way too many other things to chew on lol
i keep trying, but he often does it when i'm asleep! i keep giving him sticks to chew on, loads of wooden things, thick cardboard. i shove sticks between the bars of the cage so he chews on them instead of the cage XD he seems quite determined :P
