Why are you taking a Java class if you wanna do web programming? :) It's also possible to learn a lot of web dev on your own, if you look up tutorials and such. And, if you ever have any questions about programming or the industry (as I work as a web dev), please feel free to ask me!

For some reason, my school only offers Java with my degree. I had to go in a Bachelor's program, because that's the only way I could get financial aid... I already have a general AA degree. While I could have gone to a university with more options, I can't stand huge classes and parking there is a nightmare. (I have bad social anxiety)

I was looking into learning web development on my own over the summer when I'm not in classes. I can do very basic things, like my user profile and some of my pets.

Okay, I wanted to ask some questions and get some info. I'll smail you sometime in the next few days. ^^

Oh dear. In programmer culture we have a word for that, we actually call programs like those "Java schools". The idea is that instead of giving a well-rounded computer science education, or offering decent well-rounded options, some schools will just offer languages that are in-demand in business, which is mostly Java. The reasoning behind this is that you'll come out knowing just enough to get a job somewhere coding in Java... but these programs generally don't equip you to do much more than that. There's really nothing wrong with that, actually, if the school's goal is to help people get jobs like that, which are probably some of the easier nicely-paying coder jobs to get, and it doesn't mean it's a bad school of course. Generally it just means you'll have fewer options, and deeper theoretical concepts won't be taught.

Not sure why I shared that lol. But, I think that if you wanna try learning it over the summer, or whenever you are more free, you should go for it! Web development is really fun because you can see your results on the webpage basically right as you're making it, and it's really cool to know since the internet is such a huge part of our lives now.

By the way, I have (and technically still do, though I've taken a break to focus on my actual job) private tutored coding before - If you like, I could even help you when the summer rolls around, maybe help you get started on the right track. And sure, I'll keep an eye out for the sMail then ^^

It's really creative work, and I loved that about it... All those plain old characters, typed in rows, and creating big, amazing, colorful things...

So, Valentine's day was lovely... My hubbie got home SUPER early. I was surprised, actually, because we were barely even into the afternoon, and his boss NEVER actually lets him take time off. :O Then, he borrowed the car from the in-laws, so we drove to this beautiful German town across Lake Constance, that is one of my favorite places... It's got two castles (the "old" castle from the Middle Ages, and the "new" castle, which was built somewhere between the Sun King era and the 1800's, with lots of gold and shininess). Then, most of the rest of the town is old medieval-style houses and such, with that cool wood-framing. He wanted us to have plenty of time, so we actually crossed the lake on the ferry, which was kind of cool and also a little scary (there were semis on our boat that seemed WAY too big to be floating on a lake). The view was beautiful. Just enough fogginess to give the forests and towns along the edges extra depth, but not enough to erase the view. Then we wandered around the town for a while, and watched the sun set over Lake Constance. With the fog, it was really beautiful. Not one of the shockingly colorful sunsets, but more of a delicate pale sunset, in shades of baby pink and blue. Then, we had dinner at a really good and really traditional restaurant that looked out over the water. Then, we came home, and I finished making our dessert. I had the table decorated all pretty, and we had a bunch of candles, our dessert, and pink champagne. It was a lovely day. :D

I need some strain advice! I signed up for the shark virus (Carchai) but haven't gotten it yet. Does anyone within the group have this zombie skin so they can bite me? If not, I'll likely switch to one of the new strains since so many people have gone toward those.

usually you will be signed up for a bite and someone who has the strain will bite you. but it takes several days for the full effects to show up on your HA

plus there is a lag effect of 2 hours before you are infected, if you chose from the infection, if somebody bites you is a bit of a chance if i remember correctly, but you will get an event that will say that you are infected.

I'm not entirely sure which strain I got! I was impatient so I did the "pay 25k to get one of the new strains immediately" option.

Cool! My bf also got it but then he cured and got another one so we could have something different... also cuz he doesn't like worms. But I don't care, worms are cute... :D
