Yeah, I have to admit, I'm not used to the thin walls thing. I mean, even in college, our dorm and dorm apartments had thicker walls than this, and after that, I rented a house, so I didn't have to worry about noise. But in Switzerland, everything (and everyone) is closer together, so noise is a bigger issue. Here, you're not even allowed to vacuum on Sundays, which I find weird. Or use hammers, or drills, for that matter. So strange. But yeah, you'd think they could put in at least a smidge of sound-proofing... If they did, maybe people would stay here longer, because people are constantly moving in and out, and there are usually at least one or two empty apartments, and sometimes as many as four or five (out of I think 12).

They moved in sometime in the fall... Maybe October? I don't remember for sure. But the kid is REALLY wild, really emotional, and really loud. I'd imagine they lived in a house before, where maybe his noise wasn't as much of an issue? I mean, on a good day, we hear him singing and making car/siren noises all day, and on a bad day, it's screaming and crying, but there is always sound. Actually, I just heard him dump out a container of legos or cars, so that tells you how thin the walls are. That shouldn't be a big enough sound to hear! I can hear them walk around, I can hear her open the cupboard to put away clothes, I can hear them scoot their chairs across the floor in the dining room (which is a room or two away from our living room)...

At least today, he seems to be in a good mood. For now, anyway... Fingers crossed it stays that way! If he's singing, I might be able to get at least a little work done. When he screams, though, I have to set my translating aside, because that's a complete no-go. :/

Oh wait, I spoke too soon. Now there is screaming. A deep throaty one. A cross between a growl and a scream, really. But hopefully it won't last long.

Edit: I don't think they were legos, I think they were building blocks, because now I'm hearing them slap together. So he's either building, or they're putting them away again, already. :O He's also doing a lot of running from room to room today. That kid has heavy feet!

Hmmm... Interesting... I wish I could cook more with fish and seafood... :( My hubbie won't even try anything that lives in water, generally... Except for sushi, and only the ones with smoked salmon in them. Fake crab is an absolute no, as are oysters, salmon, cod, and basically everything...

I didn't eat much of the seafood, they all went to my family ; w ; but there were grilled salmon so I ate lots of those. I only ate some chicken and duck. I love smoked salmon and salmon tho, it's my favorite fish hehe xD Thank you c:

That's too bad, I love love love seafood... BUT having grown up with my family catching everything fresh, I am pretty picky and a lot of places where I live disappoint me in their lack of cooking skills.

Switzerland!! My hubby briefly went to pastry school there' I agree, very weird you can't vacuum on Sundays...but a kid can scream all of the time! Yikes!! :-P

Mm, yeah... I do understand a little bit why my husband doesn't like fish... The main fish eater in his house was his dad, and he's a terrible cook. He made me salmon once... Cooked it like ten minutes on each side, even though I was almost frantically trying to get him to turn it over and then take it out of the pan... He kept being like, right, just a little bit longer. That salmon was like chewing leather. Dreadful stuff. But I cook very well, and he won't even entertain the idea of trying fish I've made.. :(

Hmm, pastry school in Switzerland, huh? Well, that's fun. :) Although I have to say, I definitely think the French bakeries are better than the Swiss ones...

Well, my husband will argue for a long time that Swiss bakeries are better, but he's wrong. :P They do make excellent pretzels, and some lovely different breads. I really love zopf... And if you like "heartier" grains and seeds and nuts in your breads, then I guess Switzerland is wonderful, but I don't like those things in my breads! And most of their cakes have ground up nuts in them, which I hate... :(

So hey, everyone.. I was just drinking my morning coffee, and the thought suddenly crossed my mind that if I were to get pregnant, I didn't know if I could keep drinking... I did some research, and it seems like just about everyone agrees one coffee a day is fine, and since that is all I drink, I'm not worried on that count. But then, I started reading about everything else I shouldn't eat/drink...

So, question. If you have ever been pregnant or tried to get pregnant...

1. What foods/drinks were you NOT allowed to consume (and by that, I mean before anything particularly unusual, like gestational diabetes made its appearance :O)?
2. What foods/drinks were you told to limit or cook differently than you used to?
3. Did your doctor tell you to give them up (or make those changes) only once you'd conceived, or did he/she want you to give them up already as soon as you started trying to get pregnant?
