, our University students could really use a system like that to place them in part time jobs that they are needed at and are gifted to do. They're on their own to find jobs and it isn't easy for them.
Well, this system is only in place for part-time jobs in our own department. You're usually offered a job if you don't mess up bad during an internship but sometimes they'll also hire students who did not do an internship with out deparment before. Hiring interns helps assigning them matching tasks as you usually get a pretty good idea who is good at what during an internship.
Our department has a lot of research projects going on and research projects usually stipulate a certain amount of personnel, which means a lot of employees and part-timers. This only works with very careful planning, so three employees are involved in part-timer assignments.
I'm also pretty easy to assign - as far as I am concerned, work is work and so long as pay and appreciation are decent, I'll do whatever I'm assigned to do. I'm no good at overly creative or designing stuff so I don't get assigned those tasks (thank goodness XD).
If you get a part-time job outside of our department, it mainly depends on the company. If they want to keep their part-timers happy (mostly currying favour to be considered as future employee after graduation) or think that matching people and tasks to get more efficient workers, they'll try matching. If they don't care, they won't bother.
, it sounds like a very good system to me. 😄

That's even better =D I've never really seen it this slow before. I'm sure a couple other members will show up too.=D

Well, over here May is the month with the most public holidays in a single month so people are usually taking the change to take a few days off from work. Since this year is especially employer-friendly holiday-wise (meaning most public holidays fall on weekends so most employees don't actually have a day off), May's the only month this year where you can use public holidays to prolong your time off. Maybe it's similar in other corners of the world.
I didn't know that makes since now,=D Here we it's getting nice weather so people are doing things they don't do in the colder months. Memorial Day is coming up May 30th,so that will be a long weekend for us also.=D I don't blame people for getting out now & doing things =D If my husband didn't have to work we would be doing things all the time =)
