Amber and Ariel will be able to change the limits so we're really just waiting for this to get out of the testing phase.

I enjoy the vaults but I agree they could use updating. more people would use them if they were a bit more user friendly

Being able to search by item type or quantity or rarity would be nice. Also having removal options similar to what the shops have would be nicer than the convoluted thing they have currently.

you can sort by stack size which is like quantity searches, but yeah it does need things like that. for what I do in vaults - put stuff in and sort by user price until something is expensive - it works fine haha.

Do you know how many items you have in your vault? I'm considering dismantling my current old version gallery (eventually, over time), but I don't want to dump a few thousand items in there and then have it not be able to load anything. D:

unique items? I'm on page 21 which is one shy of a full page so 150 * 20 + 149 = 3149 unique items that aren't in categories. (wow more than I thought)

Alright, thanks! I'll probably wait a bit still before I start moving anything around, but good to know it can handle a decent amount of items.

Although it's a bit daunting to think about really starting to go through all of the stuff I have, I'll probably end up putting it off for too long. :P

people have much more in their vault than I do and I haven't heard of terrible lag as far as I can remember :) yeah I wouldn't want to do it, that's why I still have that junk in my vault xD

I really should do it eventually though, so many collection items and foods and books that I may not have used yet. And things to put in my wardrobe for those achievements. It's just having to go through every item and see if I need it that's going to be annoying. ;~;

too much effort for me! I mostly use my vault as a place to keep stuff in case it inflates

it's not your place to apologize :p and it's fine, I'll live. things don't usually bother me for too long. plenty of time now! :P I wish rsing was more enjoyable but there just aren't enough high priced items that I care about. I still need that one atebus book but other than that there's nothing to motivate me to do it until keelhauliday.

i&;m moving all of the gallery items to a separate database table.

funny how they are going to be on a completely separate table. I feel like people demanded this like this was going to be a solution to having limits, and yet we are still going to have limits.

Well hopefully if they're on a separate table, they'll be able to increase the limits significantly since those won't have the same usage as the regular user shops. We'll see what happens after the 17th I guess :)

Definitely agree with San that they were being incredibly rude to you. I thought about pointing out that they were acting like f*cking children, but it is what it is. I have little patience for idiocy so I stopped looking at the thread

yeah who knows what that means for limits, but I have to assume it means gallery limits can be higher :) when they start being like that I just have to skim it and cool off. idk if I care to go back and read through all of it, some other people took over and did a good job, albeit in a different tone than I was using probably.

Is that because said before that galleries would be in a separate system so they wouldn't have limits? Because yeah, hopefully after the testing phase they'll be able to raise the gallery limits by a lot more. Shops definitely need higher limits too, but I can understand if those can't be as big as galleries, since they have all of the pricing info and stuff.

No matter what things need limits, though if it's optimized enough it could seem limitless, like have a limit of 100k or something. No matter what optimizations are done we will need a limit though. At least that's my guess, I think Keith has learned his lesson about leaving something unbounded

True, and I definitely understand that. And I know he also said that he doesn't want us to feel like we have to have a bunch of items either, like in case they get added for achievements or needed for some future event. But at the same time, I don't think people should have to feel like they can't have a bunch of items IF they want to, especially since there are so many unique items on the site.

There's nothing stopping you now from having a bunch of items, but you can't necessarily display all of those items now. If something a user does contributes to the server errors that plague the site, the user should be okay with altering their behavior if that is the only solution.

Yes, that makes sense too. And I know there are the vaults and wardrobe that we can keep things in too. I understand that this change is for the overall benefit of the site, and I'm not saying that it shouldn't be done. But I also understand the people who may be a little frustrated when there have been quite a few times that changes have been implemented to try to combat site errors, only for there to still be a bunch of errors later on.

Personally, I am just going to be patient and see how it goes. But I do hope that this really does help in the long run, I would hate to see a bunch of people complaining "We put up with the shop change, but there's no discernible difference in the amount of site errors!"

I know staff is working hard though, and I appreciate their openness to answering questions and putting up with all of the (sometimes too harsh) backlash from this. Hopefully it works out well for everyone!

I get the frustration too. "I used to have this big collection and now I have to hide it??" something along those sentiments. a lot of work/time/sP/realmoney went into building the collection for a lot of people and now they have to deal with it elsewhere. let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet though, people saying there will still be a ton of errors after this change but that's just cynicism speaking. let's wait until the change actually happens before we go on and say maybe this change was pointless why did we do this can I have my gallery back.

I think being patient and seeing how it goes is the only real way to go about this. everything I'm seeing so far looks promising and I don't think staff would intentionally lie to us and jerk us around with these changes if they don't think everything should benefit from it.

I would rather have the site be stable with some changes that impact people negatively than an unstable site that impacts everyone negatively. if the change ends up causing some problems, well then we can work on getting those fixed too. but it's not responsible to sit and do nothing about it. I'm not saying this directed at you, just to a variety of opinions and statements I've seen in the past week or so.
