Oh Cthulhu the "Everyone panics and mass removes items from galleries" lag starts.

They would announce this for right before Vesnali, wouldn't they. >_>;;;;

Quote by Amber
We agree that it&;s a very important issue, and we will come up with a solution that we hope fits everyone&;s needs. In the meantime, access to your items in old shops and galleries will never go away, even after the shops themselves are disabled.

Well that's a relief i guess.

Yeah, isn't that how it's done on Neopets? Galleries are a pretty separate thing. It would make sense for them to make a similar move here now that they are being serious with the cutting down on hoarding thing.

Yes I'm a bit more relieved now after realizing they weren't going to be deleting the old shops. I'm just going to sit tight and see what happens before trying to move things around, I think.

Yea, i think that's what i'm going to do too. Vaults are far too much of a pain in the ass and the lag is so real right now. i'm afraid of actually losing things. >_<

Vaults are pretty annoying right now, that's probably the next thing they should overhaul (without imposing a limit). I only have a few things in mine because it's just dumb.

Indeed. As shops are used for searching for shopping, questing etc, I can see a logic to size limits, but galleries less so. Seems a sensible suggestion to me.

I am not moving anything today, error messages have already been reported, but I will have a test at some point.

I hope there will be autoprice once per day for all shops if splitting stuff over multiple shops. That would be fair.

Yep, lag is already starting to pop up as people start moving stuff around. I think it's best to just wait it out, especially the people like me who have 10-20k or more items. Even doing one page at a time, I have over 200 pages of items to go through and sorry but that just ain't happening right now.

Haha, and I believe was just talking about it the other day too. I'm honestly not too surprised that they're doing it, since it's been brought up before in the past. Maybe a bit surprised that they picked now of all times to start it, like I said in a previous post I would rather see them finish some other big projects before starting something else.

Yea i have a couple of things in my Vault that i keep on hand (seeds, for one) that i don't need to put in my hoard gallery (mainly because there's already one of that kind in there). Also yes, please fix the damn wardrobe. Please. For the love of Cthulhu. The thing is kinda fucked right now and could use a good heaping of love. ;_;

Yea i saw, i'm a little anxious about losing things, some of this stuff is from when i first started playing 8 years ago. Sentimental value and all that. It can all sit and rot in my hoard for now, i don't need other people to see it, so it's no skin off my nose if it just gets 'disabled' and hidden from public view. As long as i can pull from it should the need arise, i'm ok with it sitting there.

I don't think they'll be deleted, you just wont be able to add anything to them anymore. I could be wrong though...If the limit isnt raised, I'll just have to find some way to deal with it. Maybe have the 'big' events in one gallery (Luminaire, Morostide, Vesnali and the like), with smaller ones in another (free gifts, Snowman building event)

I don't want to have to sell some of the things, because some you can't get anymore unless its from user shops, and the price can be freaky high. The bit of info at the bottom of the 'edit items' screen of my main gallery says Id get around 2,468,276,926 sP if all the items sld at the lowest price.

Ive been working on that gallery since I created it a few years ago, and I dont want all the work to go to waste. I really only use my vault to put stuff into, and then move multiple items at once to a certain shop instead of using the quick stock, or going one by one with each item in my inventory

I kinda like that idea...:D

I only have 43 pages in my main gallery, so I wont have as much work as someone with a lot more...But still going WTF about this.

Wonder if this is part of the site downtime thing and that's why it's being rolled out now?
I feel quite lucky, only got about 500 things in my shop currently and about 2000 in the Gallery, but we seriously need a 'transfer to' option here!

Yes, missing items have also been reported so hang on 'til it's more stable!

Yeah, it does seem a plausible thing, hopefully it can be considered!

Yeah, I really just don't want to lose items. I may end up going through everything over a greater period of time and deciding what to keep and what to get rid of, but for now I don't want anything to just go "poof!" and it ends up being something I really liked.

P.S. What's the frost-like background thing that you have? It's pretty and I'm just curious.

I don't think they're going to just delete stuff either, they'd have a riot on their hands if that happened. I'm in the same boat though, some of the things in my hoard are probably pretty valuable and I don't even know what things.

I'll just be patient and figure out what to do once things settle down a bit.

Yeah I guess that makes sense, they did say they were doing database work when they took the site down early this morning. I guess they determined it was finally time to implement this, as it makes sense that it would be a major way to cut down on some of the server strain, considering how many items some users have.

I kind of just like hoarding some items just to have mementos. I can definitely part with all the non-holiday items without any issue, but I have a bunch of retired and holiday items that I want to keep. Realistically, it's easy to rack up a ton of items over the course of a year just with all the holiday items. I like the idea of galleries being moved to something separate from the user shops so we can still display a bunch of stuff. That I'd be okay with. Then I can split up what I want to sell into different shops (vending, holiday, questing, RSing, etc).

I'm the same, some things I just like having because they're cute or pretty or whatever, even if I never do anything with them. Or maybe I'll find a use for them in the future, you just never know.

I have a feeling most of my wearables would just go into my wardrobe, but then I do still worry about that because it's not completely finished yet either and I don't want to have to risk losing items from that if they update it again or something.

the ONLY way I'll be okay with this is if they introduce a feature in the updated shop search to check our vaults because that's where most of my stuff is going to be going. With a GA, you can get 250 items/day from vending alone, let alone the ~150 items from doing all the quests and any restocking you want to do. Those items are not all going to sell after a day, so hopefully the limits are raised to something more realistic sooner rather than later because I'm pissed off about that.

They are eventually going to raise the item limit on shops and galleries, just nobody knows how much right now. Probably not as much as people would like.

I frag a lot of the extra items I get from quests and vending (when I'm not too lazy to do it), so those probably won't be going in my shop or vault or whatever.

A lot of users in the news comments though have brought up really good points, because moving everything to a vault won't solve the database problem. People will still have thousands of items in there, and then vaults won't load or they'll bring up errors and strain the servers. I hope that at least the staff starts being more consistent when it comes to hoarding, because up until now they've been both encouraging and discouraging it. "Oh, don't hoard too much sP or items, that's bad for the economy!" but then "Let's have an event where hoarding is rewarded!" with the snowman contest. And then all of the achievements for having such and such items, especially retired or rare items that get bought out within a few minutes of the news post.

Items make up a big part of the site. I know that in the long run this may be better for site performance, but I just hope some type of balance can be found where this doesn't take away from the experience of being able to do things on here.

Eeek! clings to hoard

We really need drawers in the wardrobe. i wouldn't mind dumping everything into it if i could...sort it better (that sure does seem to be a trend with the site, eh? xD). Junk i'm never going to wear < Things i am going to wear The item is

Edit to add: Cooking was another "Hoarding = GOOD!" kinda thing. i hate the mixed messages. >_<

I thought you could make drawers now, but you just can't delete them? I've never tried to use drawers anyway, so I'm not even really sure how they work. Honestly, I'd probably only collect wearables too for the achievements, and then I'd narrow it down to items I actually like and get rid of the other junk.

And thanks! Turns out I have that item, it is nice though!
