The first thought that comes to mind is that a daily (or weekly) downtime could be used to fix some things on the site- a half hour every day, a bit longer if its once a week.

^ Most of the fixes we're asking for don't require downtime, so that's irrelevant. That said, it wouldn't be a bad idea for Keith to spend a couple hours each week (Bug Fix Friday?) actively working on the low priority fixes that always seem to get stuck at the bottom of his list for months at a time.

And then there was this thread:

The giant list of usability and random improvement

did a fantastic job maintaining it, and quite a few issues were addressed. Unfortunately staff&;s ADHD set in after a while and they stopped following it.

Edit: Sopheroo beat me to it

I probably should start updating it again because the topic did get a lot things fixed. The list did get things changed, no matter how small. Those annoyances users had about things. And I'm pretty sure things of the list have been fixed after i quit updating it because i bumped into things where i thought: ghee this was on the topic I ran and it works now.

The day staff needs volunteers I'll probably volunteer, but I graduate as php developer next month and I'm not sure how things will be when I have a job.
I love Subeta and I still think it has potential to evolve.

If you want help give a shout, maybe we could have it made into a sticky and a few of us could help out with maintaining sections and stuff so the entire burden wouldn't be on you. I know that was a lot of work for you when it was really active. <3

I've been thinking about remaking it to be honest, to bring it back stronger. But I haven't had the energy to actually get started on it. I did update everything now, so the list has been filtered again with what has been fixed or is no longer relevant.

It would be handy to handle it with multiple people because:

 • the sheer size of the post and the amount of topics. There are currently 23 subjects and the mobile one isn't even in-depth yet.
 • I know zero about battling and wardrobes so it would be better if someone with battle knowledge handled the battle improvements part, and a wardrobe fan handled the wardrobe. Because someone people pointed to improvements in parts of the site i hardly knew and then I just scratched my head "how do i even write this down?"
 • it would be easier to keep up to date

It was a lot work to maintain when people were actively posting things and staff was actively fixing. So if there are people interested in making it a team effort and to get this thing going again, i'm in!

I'm off to bed now, shoot me a comment and we can brainstorm later, maybe over Skype or something?

Now the wardrobe/HA updates has gone wrong. It was first reported nearly 24 hours ago but I can't find that any member of staff has said that the problem is known about and being worked on. :( :(

i think this is a good time to mention that there has been an enormous problem with my account for about TWO YEARS now. every item i try to buy from event shops, quest shops, subeautique and most seriously the cash shop is DOUBLE BOUGHT as long as i have enough currency on hand. this is not a problem with my computer as i have tested it out on many different ones - it is in my very account. earlier this month i redeemed the one week gold account medal i had and didn't notice until the next week, when it still hadn't run out, that it used up BOTH THAT MEDAL AND THE OTHER ONE I HAD. the only feedback i have recieved from subeta about this is that i should file a ticket every time that happens but it happens multiple times every single day and I'm just not gonna write that many tickets - i just beat with it for the most part because i was told OTHERS ALSO HAD THIS ISSUE AND IT WAS BEING ADDRESSED. two years. ZERO FEEDBACK ON THIS HUGE PROBLEM. zero updates. i have no idea of this is being worked on at all really. honestly i can't believe i still use this site with this seemingly permanently glitched account. never experienced something on this level with ANY other site I've used. where are subetas priorities?

I really, really like this idea!! Wouldn't mind seeing something similar to patch notes with a site update ping along with it.

I also want to say that most of the criticism I have do not concern item admins, who have proven to be open to discussions, concessions and are both active on a regular basis.

Only a few things are problematic with the art department, but it's mostly because staff has apparently been running thin for years, and we have been lacking replacements. Is there something preventing new hires, I do not know. I'm not blaming Rah for this at all, she does the best she can with what she have.

But it's another wish for 2016, more fresh blood in the creative department in general.

This. I actually would not mind at all of it was taken offline to do a bit of bug fixing. Even Flight Rising does that each Monday.

I'd like to see new staff everywhere really. I have been on this site 8 years, love it to death and wont leave until it closes down. I would love to see this website last even longer than neo if it ever goes down. It seriously does need help on communication but some more staff everywhere would be really helpful.

Didn't we used to have planned downtime on a weekly basis? I think it was like Sunday mornings (subeta time) for one hour or something? I distinctly remember some of the European players complaining about it... and I don't recall if it got much done.

Communication would be great, and I like a lot of ideas in this thread. I especially like the idea of weekly 'patch' updates - just to let us know stuff is getting done. I thought at one point this was going to happen... maybe last year when this was brought up? We got a spur of updates... and then silence again.

It seems to be the Subeta Cycle, just like Subeta SOON. Things will be great for a while, but then it dwindles down, so we complain, and it goes back to being great... for a while. It just seems like staff lacks the energy and perseverance to stay in high communication on a regular basis. Not saying that isn't human (there are plenty of weeks I don't have it in me to keep up with some social obligations/communication). Just saying it happens.

Not sure if new blood would help any, but Subeta staff does seem to be running thin lately. And I know that I, personally, am still ALL FOR A SUBETA INTERNAL KICKSTARTER/DONATION THING. Tax season is upon us. Raise the money for more staff, recode, or just... I dunno, something. If ya'll need money to fix shit, then do it.

I dunno. I personally feel like an internal kickstarter is a bad idea. I've been around for too long and I'm too pessimistic (I'll admit!), but I feel like the same old would just happen: things would be great for a bit and then would fizzle out, projects would get swept under the rug, glitches wouldn't get fixed, staff would go back to being unresponsive, and nothing would be better in the longterm. Did we ever get a recode? I took a hiatus for a year or two after YEARS of being promised "the recode is coming, the recode is coming!" and all I came back to was a broken wardrobe.

Also, this thread is hilarious to me. Because it's users volunteering to do stuff for free that staff should be doing. Considering they're getting paid to do it and all.

Flight Rising closes for maintenance every evening at midnight in their timezone, for around 30 minutes.

The company that does maintenance every monday? Nintendo Network.

I would also prefer the site to fix things before contributing to a kickstarter. Even if it's small things.

I thought they closed on each monday to do major updates and are down for a while? My gfs account tends to get logged out on Mondays due to that.

@blackwolf_2009 Flight Rising was the first website that came to mind that I know of (and does the 'rollover' stuff every night). Last I checked, Kingdom of Loathing does the same thing. About half an hour every night, with one day a week being a bit longer (up to an hour). Both sites might have different reasons for doing that, but I think at least one or two things are similar.

I wouldnt mind too horribly a kickstarter type thing, or maybe some sort of 'physical item' shop thats up for a while where the profit from the sale of...whatever the thigns are (like a physical version of a GA medal? XD) is used to get thigns working properly. Hasn't the Wardrobe been kinda weird for a while?n With a big part of Subeta being the wardrobe (at least, it seems like that to me), you figure there would have been more updates about it.
