@blackwolf_2009 yeah I read that post too. Who knows, they could take down the site and do nothing with it just so they own the ideas of the site so they could incorporate them into their own site.
I don't know about the CSC thing. Maybe if we had better things to spend sP on, people would actually want sP instead of primarily wanting CSC.
I hope we get a new programmer too, it should help out immensely.
I agree with most of this, but not the CSC part. CSC needs to maintain a maximum value. If it doesn't then people won't buy it and the site couldn't sustain itself at all.
There are no viable owners for Subeta as it is now. Petsites in subeta style are no longer golden cows, they no longer are money farms for investors. You can see it with the daily goal bar.
The big dominating petsites, the ones attracting the crowd, are the ones where you can breed, or the ones who have tradable custom pets. Subeta is not in these niches.
As for avatar sites, it could be interesting because Subeta has a strong avatar base, and lots of art. So, if Subeta is sold, don't expect pets to stick around as a major feature, because the market is not here. It's in games like Neko Atsume. It's with breeding sims.
Subeta's window of opportunity for a sale was 2009-2012.
It's not something that's easily doable, now.
No matter what SP items we're going to add to the site, it pretty much has to beat CUSTOM WEARS in popularity. And, I'm not seeing anything in the long run that is going to be more desirable than custom wears.
Yeah I agree with you. it's a tough situation. they could make custom items completely an sP thing if they were ever going to do those but that still wouldn't be as popular as wearables...
I think selling is a horrible idea. As mentioned before: pet games their hype is over. This place would become neopets 2.0 a.k.A game over. Have you seen what happened to neopets? Everyone got fired, site features got deleted and it has gone so tits up that i left the site after 14 years of playing every single day.
I feel like a lot would be fixed already with an extra programmer to handle things. And a person to handle communication so the frustration is kept at a minimum.
And I'm confused why people act like the price of csc is some sort of destruction of Subeta. It's simple supply and demand, and that combined with a real life crisis where people don't have as much money to spare. Subeta needs money, csc delivers that money: you can't play with it directly or change anything about it without it costing subeta money. On top of that there is still too much money in the Subeta economy but that is fixed with things like sP sinks and not by touching the csc itself.
Just my two cents.

Not everyone selling CSC to feed their vault.. I sell them to BUY other things that I need.. To collect achievements and to finish collections requires a lot of sp. If I couldn't sell CSC I couldn't work on the things I like.. I'm not a restocker and I'm too lazy to quest.. so CSC is easy money for me.. Anyway, don't touch the CSC please.
Well, I can't see staff allow things like custom collectibles, so custom items would pretty much just be cute treasure chest trinkets.
I don't know who said that CW needs their own cash shop currency, but it's starting like a good idea. Turn CWs submission and the price in cash shop/pawn shop in CW points, where 1$ = 1 CW points, and give a grace period for CSC to be converted into CW points, at a 100 CSC = 1 CW point ratio
After the grace period is up, you can no longer convert CSC into CW points, they're completely separate.
CSC is still going to be in demand for everything else, and CW points will be in demand for well, CW
I wouldn't like to see custom items but it seems like one of few things that could compete with cws.
Making cws a nontransferable cash currency would upset a lot of users who buy their CWs with sP right now. I don't see that working at all.
I don't think I said they were nontransferable. I said they would be independent from CSC, meaning Subeta would have two cash currency - a general and a specific.
I could see CW points having cards as well. 5/10/25 point cards.
You can't just transfer between CSC and CW points. That would avoid people stockpiling CSC to just inflate it more to get CW points.
Oh so you could still buy cw points with csc?
Couldn't this lead to csc prices being even higher since people would sell cw points instead and fewer csc cards?
For a period of time, a transition period, you can buy CWP with CSC. However, it's going to be temporary. Not sure what the duration could be, not more than a few months, and several warnings should be made in the news, to be sure that people know that it's temporary. We need a firm duration for the transition period - no extensions, no surprises, no delay.
After this period, no, you cannot buy CWP with CSC anymore. The currencies will be completely separated.
Both currencies will be cash shop currencies, meaning you can buy one, or the other, with real money, but after the transition period, CSC will not be able to be converted into CWP. So, if you need to make or buy a custom wear, you need CWP. If you need anything else from the cash shop, you need CSC.
There is going to be demand for both currencies, for different reasons.
So after a year we'll end up with Cw points being extremely expensive and csc still being expensive? I don't see this change actually fixing anything.
The intention is by seperating custom wearables from csc the price will drop. Yes the cwp to sp rate would be super expensive but at least the csc to sp rate will drop. Making csc more accessible to players overall.
Will it actually drop though? the supply is getting cut, the demand of course will get cut too obviously but who would sell csc when you could sell cw points instead? People will just buy the more expensive currency to sell. The change will result in two expensive currencies instead of one.
There are plenty of reasons to buy CSC outside of CW. Haven't bought a CW in years, and yet, 2014-2015 are years where I spent a lot on Subeta.
With GA, collections, Delish, and sales? A lot of people are going to prefer selling the jack-of-all-trades currency over the very specific ones.
Bigger market. Easier to sell overall than a currency that someone may or may not be interested in. It's like offering to pay me in SP or in forum points. Yeah, forum points sell for more, but i can only use these in the forum shop.
Pretty much for the reason that Sopheroo touched upon. Plus there are some users who are just not in the HA system and therefore CW's don't entice them. My only concern is how the CW market will handle the slotting system and the CW Shops since it works on CSC. However to be honest I would like to see the pawn shop for custom wearables still be priced in csc. I myself don't really care for the ha system so really my input on it is 100% biased to see csc prices drop. I buy my csc to sell or use for custom pet overlays and it is sad to see the same few people buy up my csc and it is for the purpose of purchasing more CW items.
I agree with . I don't see this as a viable solution.
