Seems like a good plan to me, help lower the number of items in circulation. Also... does keeping track of the amount of items on the servers and in shops and etc cause any strain on the servers?
May I ask if these changes have affected the Subeautique?
Five sets were released/unretired on March 30th, the day after this topic was first made. Since then, the items have been selling out in the Subeautique almost immediately and it has been stocking normally.
Yesterday/today was much slower, with items sitting in the Subeautique a lot longer. A few times over the past day I noticed that stocks have gone over the designated 30-75 time limit between stocks. The Subeautique has now not stocked for over two hours. What is going on? Are the items sitting in the Subeautique preventing it from stocking or was a new change made?
what is with today's extremely slow restocks? i have to wait like 20 minutes for the main shops i'm rsing at when it used to be about 5 minutes for a restock. i spent 90% of my time here waiting for restocks and it's extremely frustrating and boring to have to wait 20 minutes for a restock and even then the shops don't even restock any new/rare items.
I second what ^^^^^^ said. These 20 min waits for NPC shops to restock are killin' me. :(
Dude, nothing is restocking. It's been almost 20 minutes since any of the main shops restocked, and they're all completely packed full of 10 each of Mundane items. I'm guessing this is not what was intended? Hoping, at least? :(
[edit]

Restocked 32 minutes ago and still seeing the same items in there
are you kidding me!!! Cant restock anything now.
It's pretty bad. It's like restocking through mud. I get it and all; less frequent restocks will hopefully bring a load of prices up, but this is a pretty drastic change. I've already done just about everything else around the site I normally do, but now there's not much reason to hang around for the rest of the day.
Hmmm, I'm starting to change my mind.
I generally enjoy popping on for a few minutes every now and then and seeing if I can snag something from the shops. This whole "each shop only stocks twice or thrice an hour" thing is really discouraging. I feel like it's making restocking as a way to make sp only viable for people who can be on for hours and hours each day.
[edit] To add: The Grooming Parlor hasn't restocked in 2 and a half HOURS.
I sat trying to do my normal restocking last evening for 2 hours and restocked nothing. Nothing restocked that was worth buying for resale. So I made very little sP overnight from my shop compared to usual.
How do I make sP now if this is what restocking is going to be? And why should I play the game if other than questing during those 2 hours I cannot make the usual sP I would make by restocking? No sP, no buying what I want to buy in the game, no game.

I don't personally think npc shop items need to have their prices driven up. it makes sense that only rare/super rares that have uses are very expensive. i don't think there needs to be a limit on those things stocking every day, because if they ever go too low in price they will just be bought up and fragged. i also think that making shops stock only a couple times an hour is killing restocking for a lot of people. i make 90% of my income from restocking and i restocked 4-5 shops at once even when there were only 4 minutes between the average stock. i have absolutely no interest in waiting for 30+ minutes with nothing to do (except refreshing to no changes, but having to do it anyway just in case something happened) and then frantically buying whatever i can get from the different shops. i know i'm not alone in this.
i think this will also bottleneck getting new items out and make them ridiculously overpriced for far too long. normally, there's a couple sales at 2-3 mil for a sought after wardrobe item in the first day of its release and it's fine; some people place value on having those things and have the sP to spend on it. but within a week the prices drop to much more reasonable values according to the items' rarity, and then it hovers there for a couple more weeks, which is when most sales happen for restockers and there's plenty of sP to be made; this is a win-win situation because people who don't want to restock (or can't) are getting the item at a comfortable price and people who restock are making a nice profit for their efforts. drastically reducing restock frequencies like this is going to make that process lag for everyone and isn't going to help much in the long term. new items will be horribly overpriced for far too long because there won't be enough of them to go around for perhaps a month or more. those with more sP may not be as affected by this, but new users and users who don't spend a lot of time on the site won't be able to get the things they want, which isn't nice for anyone, and restockers will make less sP because of fewer sales. there are already a lot of difficult-impossible to attain items on the site. restocking doesn't have to fall into that category.
so there's my 2 cents.
Gold is forever.
Throws my 2 cents in with :D Well said.... I couldn't have said it better. I have given up on restocking completely, and it used to be my main source of sP. :( I am not very lucky when it comes to vending and most of my favorite games are broken so I have no idea how I am going to earn it now. UGH !!!

This is stupid! I thought the new changes were to differenciate between neopets and subeta, congratulations you have now made rsing just as tedious if not more than neopets!!!
Food Market restocked 16 minutes ago. Book Nook restocked 33 minutes ago. Minions Market restocked 43 minutes ago.
I don't see how this change is actually helping anything; in fact, it's making restocking a lot worse. Many users make their livelihood with restocking and may become bored with the site. Please reconsider this change, it's getting ridiculous.

Yes said it well. Restocking is the majority of my income. I spent another 2 hours on subeta this morning trying to restock. Bought a single item and that went into my wardrobe. This is going to cut my sP income down at least 80% of what it was if not more.

I seriously cant be bothered to wait 25mins + for a shop to restock and then when it restocks there is nothing worth buying, not even to defrag. My only enjoyment on the site is restocking,as I dont play games etc to make Sp. so with NO restocking, why should we hange around and play subeta ? nothing is happening.
Stick it to the Man! Restocked 46 minutes ago wow really ?

While that's a big component of my dissatisfaction, it's not even just about cutting income or the fact that browsing stores has become super boring. I already see prices of rares rising fast and at this rate quests are going to risk becoming more unprofitable, which means the main source of income for most of the users on site will fall as well.
Increasing the number of items that stock but reducing the rate of restocks means commons (which are mostly found in vending, btw) continue to drop in value while rares no longer found in stores jump in price. I don't really think we need a more unbalanced economy right now.
Also, how on earth can there be an accurate measurement of "how many things are bought" if items don't restock? Are we going to then retire a bunch of the rares that are no longer restocking because the restocks take thirty minutes now? How is this an accurate metric at all?
All of these elements to handle restocking and the economy don't make sense when they're put together. Sure, limit restock rates. Sure, retire some items periodically and retire some items permanently. Sure, add unique items to vending machines. But putting all these together at once? It's a mess and the economy suffers for it.
If the idea is just to get rid of restocking, get rid of it already. Unbalancing the economy by trying all the things at once isn't making the process easier or better.
This is ridiculous. Even when shops are restocking, they are only getting one or two new items in them at a time which defeats the purpose of it restocking in the first place. For those of us who make our sP off of restocking, this is frustrating and time consuming, and I've seen these 10 of this item in stock or whatever items in user shops for less than 100 sP and many items are dropping in price by the second while others are skyrocketing. It isn't balancing out the economy in the slightest, it's screwing it up.
Grooming Parlour: Restocked 2 hours, 38 minutes ago
Limit restocks by reducing the amount of times certain items restock. You have common items restock over and over and then just sit there. Then they're available in vending. Of course they're worth squat.
Limit the amount of times super rares restock. I was able to get 4+ Steamwork Key Stone Mold's in a month just being on intermittently.
The way restocking has changed is not for the better. What else am I to do on this site other than log on, do a few quests, and put my pet in training? Why am I even on if I can't restock- it's how I make sP and I doubt I'll be able to continue to do so at this rate. I am not going to wait for an hour or two just to see if something has been put in the store. My time is not that worthless.
This ^ You've covered everything I wanted to say.
I make my sp on Subeta by restocking. If restocking is completely taken away, or this becomes the new norm, then there isn't anything here for me anymore.
How are any of us supposed to get the Shop Till Saver achievements when everything is becoming worthless and we can't restock anything decent enough to make a profit off of? They're already difficult to get.
