Hello! I have a question. Can we use apostrophes in descriptions? o:
In descriptions, yes, that's fine :)
It's time for another reminder about this :) please remember to use AMERICAN spellings, not British! Little things like this can delay your CW getting accepted (for example, if I'm doing a quick run to accept recolors but accepting it is going to require me to change the name and edit the description, it may have to wait until next time). This is something coming up more and more. Thanks, dears!

Why though? Our language came from theirs. More people use British English than American English anyway. This just seems silly?
I don't even know which is which xD I use both color and colour and I have no idea which one is american and which one is english scratches head
Thank you! I'll try to keep that in mind, but I have the same problem with every other word that has a different spelling, like grey/gray D= Maybe you could add a short list of the most common mispelling somewhere on the site? That would be super helpful ^_^
I don't think grey/gray actually matters tbh (and I know I've seen both onsite so it at least doesn't matter for subeta) but you're welcome c:
Subeta is an American site that conforms to using American English. If and the Canadian staff artists can do it, I'm sure the rest of you can ;)
That would take literally hours - hours away from me accepting CWs. I've mentioned a lot of the common things already, and really, you guys should just be double checking before you submit! Item names and descriptions need to have American English spellings and CORRECT spellings and grammar, item names cannot need apostrophes as they do not work in the names, plurals are not used with apostrophes, etc. Really, it's just basics. Double check your item names and descriptions before submitting, and use American English :) It's easy!
Ah ok, sorry I had no idea there were so many words with different spelling, I only know about a few of them so I figured it wouldn't be time consuming xD
Yes, but there are already a ton of items onsite spelled with British English, so what's the point of forcing non-Americans to use our spelling when it's already a thing that happens with staff-submitted items?
We do our best to NOT have it be a thing with Staff-submitted things, either (with a few exceptions that were done that way on purpose or for special meanings), and when and (and others) catch it or if it slips through, they change it. It's not something we're going to waver on. We even have a denial reason that simply states " Use of non-American spelling(s) in the item name and/or description". We try to NOT deny things if the only mistake is a spelling or grammar issue as a favor to the submitters, since we can change it, but if it keeps being a huge issue, we're not always going to be able to do that. This wasn't posted to start a debate about whether or not it's a rule -- it is a rule, and this is a friendly reminder :)
Gray/grey is pretty much interchangeable throughout all that speak/spell/etc English. Unlike such things as harbor vs harbour. Gray IS more common in America, and grey is more common elsewhere, but they are still used frequently everywhere (and Subeta). There are more that are commonly interchangeable, too, actually. A quick list I found is here. you may like the link ? Although the sites rule seems more focused on more common words, as there are plenty that are interchangeable throughout all English speakers (including Subeta), that the site lists.
Look at me using British and Canadian english most of the time tho ...
Doesn't seem like an unreasonable request by any means. Thanks for the reminder
