I honestly wouldn't want them any cheaper. To get some of the best things you should pay a lot. That's just how it works.
What's that worth? 25-30m? By the time your pet was strong wnough to earn that, you have probably got 20x that into your pet and weapons at least.
The 5th win drops deflate a lot, I'd love to see more achievement based prizes from battling to keep prices high and encourage people to earn their own.
Agreed.
And it's about 30m now though it was around 40m when it first came up. But Devora also dropped a wearable background and a minion that were 15m and 10m respectively. Because the book they dropped is a useable it goes for around 40m. So at the current prices you'd pay 95m if you wanted all of them. Very true that at the point where your pet was strong enough and be well equiped you'd have spent a lot more than that. But if you increased the amount of times we get someone like Devora who I physically wanted almost every drop from, the less staggering that difference is.
For a newer user, who isn't necessarily going to be able to afford those drops right then or even relatively soon, grooming a good battle pet is more manageable because it is smaller cost in the beginning and builds in chunks. Might take a while and a lot of sp over time to get there but eventually they wont have to purchase expensive drops everything a challenger that is beyond them comes out. Really doesn't work for either well established or rich users and doesn't work if either drops or achievement prizes for beating them aren't enticing.
And I would agree with that as well considering I've only had to be patient in the case of a lot of 5th win drops to be able to easily afford them. Throw in the fact that they occassionally reset wins which means you can re-get those drops and then sell them since you already have a copy and they become a lot more accessible. That accessibility makes it a lot less necessary for people to make their own battle pet. Your suggestion is a good solution to that problem
You shouldn't expect another win reset ever again for a very long while.
I have all of the devora prizes sitting in my vault except the book which I read right away :p It's nice having a challenger with such good loot but it hardly ever happens.
I'd just love it if they could do more battle things so they would be more often just to draw in more people. They could start off slow to encourage newer battlers and include something for stronger pets too. I don't think we need a monthly plot or battle week, but a new achievement every month for beating a temporary challenger x number of times would be great.
i really like if 5th loot weapon is useful for the winning pet. right now, they just drop weaker weapons for sale. at least on my current level. they are good weapons but obsolete for the winning pet.
(i hope that didn't double ping. I messed up the first time realllll bad) I really wouldn't. I've only really been into battling recently enough to know of two that have happened during my span on subeta. But this recent one happened after we've had so many cash shop birds/dragons and research notes. If someone who only has one battle had purchased the majority of those then you can re-get a lot of less accessible 5th battle drops. That's what stood out most to me.
I loved that cowl when it first came out but I think the minion wins out in my mind now. Books always take precedence though because AP is goooood. But I'd agree that it isn't very common to see such a cool assortment of loot come from challengers. Usually one item is a standout and can be purchased instead of working on a battle pet.
I'd be so so up for that format. I really think that'd be cool and it'd be nice to see more of that and less CS necessity if you want fresh challengers (I say that having bought many a cash shop challenger). Recently those three nature walk opponents were pretty cool and I actually was able to beat them all no problem so if they did things like that occasionally but maybe include an opponent for the higher tiers too then it'd be nice.
For the first time they did it they could make one challenger who is a lower tier which stays around long enough for those who really haven't trained at all or much to be able to beat after some training. The other challenge would be for higher tier one for those who've been dedicatedly training their pets for a while to beat. I agree that it would work best if you got an achievement for beating the temp challenger x number of times and attached the coolest loot of the lot as the prize for the achievement. As they months progressed the challengers could get progressively harder to beat. In the case of the low tier or beginner challenger they could follow the natural progression so that if if you trained pretty consistently and worked at battling they are beatable. Might be a way to really encourage starting battlers to stick with it.
I got two pings but no big deal at all :p
I wouldn't even mind if the challenger they used was a challenger we already have with maybe a few tweaks. The hard part about getting new challengers is the art, so reusing ones we have would make it easier to get this done.
Oh that sounds very like a very good plan because you're right that getting art of more challengers may be a sticking point. Tweaking stats (if needed) on an old challenger and just setting it as those designated challengers is a good way to institute the system. That'd also solve the problem of having to draw new drop items because they could be the same as their existing (assuming that doesn't destroy the value of the item if this was a retired challenger) and just do one item each for the easy and hard challengers to be used as the achievement prize.
I don't think new items would be a huge issue, they whip out new items all the time. A few could be redirected into this, or they could put like tomes or something as the prizes.
Yeah that's true and honestly battlers need some love anyone. Or if they cant be redirected then tomes would be nice prizes especially when the mage turns 5 of your 6 amulets into shards.
I think it would be even better if they were untradable tomes or some untradable booster :p
That'd make it perfect. Wouldn't deflate the SS cost of them and would go directly towards helping the pet be able to fight the challenger the next time it cycles or even fight that current one the amount of times needed. Account locked tomes and boosters are great because new users and new battlers wouldn't really give pause to thinking of the 2.5m they could make versus using it to boost the battle pet.

10 items found in total!
I win stuff that isn't books or battle related and I throw it in a shop and forget about it :P
Well Lhyven got 29/30 BQs today. Crawbeast showed and I didn't want to waste my skip so I just had Dameon handle things. I think this weekend I'll give Lord Miasma the BQs or well half. He's inching closer to tier 10 and I really do want him to reach it before too long.
Also on the topic of good loot.... Most of the time for anything major I can only manage one copy of the really good loot. I'm trying to close that gap but it's going to take me some time to kinda get there but Lhyven's getting stronger every day so who knows what will happen.

My god. 10 seems like an insane amount of those considering the amount of high tier pets required to accrue that many.
I have a really bad habit of either throwing something in my vault to be buried under pages of junk or putting pricey items and my shop and forgetting that autoprice is not going to price it for me. So it just sits in there at 0sp or gets forgotten about in a vault for 3 years give or take.
Ideal challenger: A haunted library shelf that drops a unique book, a scroll, and a razor edged book boomerang weapon of some description.
LOL but if you look at 's pets you'll see he has an insanely high amount of high tiered pets. :P

I did indeed notice and then I sat in a sort of stunned wonder for a couple of minutes considering the time, sp, and effort it took to get to that point.
When the achievement for encountering the Ice King was first released, I thought there would be more opponents like the Ice King coming. The achievement sais: "Be challenged by a Battle Coliseum opponent in a random event." It doesn't say "Be challenged by the Ice King", so I really assumed there would be more. I think it would be nice to add some opponents to this pool, or make the Ice King seasonal and have others for the other parts of the year.
lol :P I'm glad the account worth page doesn't show anything about training pets. Looking at the billions worth of books that my pets have read is bad enough! As far as the time and effort, it's just doing a little every single day for the past 7 years ;)
Woo 598 stats till tier 12 for Lhyven! It's gonna be a little slow the next few days because I want Lord Miasma to reach his goal (since he's closer) BUT that's alright with me. At this pace anyway Lhyven will be at his goal before the year is up. Way sooner if we get more challengers and a plot. c:
