I'll go by which starter I picked my first playthrough in each generation. :3 1st Squirtle 2nd Cyndaquill 3rd Torchic (FR/LG Squirtle) 4th Piplup (HG/SS Cyndaquill) 5th Oshawott 6th Fennekin (OR/AS Mudkip)

Poor grass types, I never go for them first. ^_^;

Charmander, Totodile, Torchic, Turtwig, Tepig, Froakie I tend to box the D/P/P and X/Y starters as soon as I catch the first 'main team' pokemon I've decided on for that round xD I do like turtwig/torterra tho, the idea of having my own walking island is pretty cool.

same as above as well, in platinum i boxed my starter at it's second evo and just used my luxray and staraptor as mains, ha ha. 1st gen: bulbasaur 2nd gen: totodile 3rd gen: treecko (always male and named Isaac!) 4th gen: turtwig (boxed @ grotle) 5th gen: oshawott 6th gen: fennekin (wasn't all too fond of delphox though)

This actually wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be! It seems as though I have an affinity for reptiles and amphibians, judging from this list!

I love all of the 2nd generation starters, so it is always hard to choose between them. At this current moment though it would be: Squirtle Totodile Treeko Chimchar Snivy Froakie

I've replayed most of them and picked other starters too. Overall, I think those are the ones I'd choose again... Squirtle's still my favourite pokémon, and I get attached to all my starters. But Treeko is really cool. :p I love Froakie too. And Bulbasaur is adorable. ; p ; /kick'd

I really like grass starters if you can't tell. :> Some of my first runs I picked different starters on, but these are my current favourites.

I would love to own all of the starters, but these were my picks:

1. Squirtle
2. Totodile
3. Torchic
4. Chimchar
5. Snivy
6. Fennekin

However, my favorites by evolution would look like this:

Stage 1: Squirtle / Totodile / Torchic / Piplup / Snivy / Fennekin

Stage 2: Wartortle / Quilava / Grovyle / Grotle / Servine / Braixen

Stage 3: Blastioise / Feraligatr / Blaziken / Infernape / Serperior / Greninja

Wow, Gens 1 and 5 were the only ones consistent throughout evolutionary stages. Strangely enough, Gen 4 was the only one to use each starter across them. Delphox almost made it to my favorite Gen 6 final evolution, but Greninja beat it there (Delphox is cute, but Greninja is just plain awesome).

I have a thing for the water starters, always have. I barely ever have used the grass staters.

Those are the ones I chose on my first play-throughs of all the games, though I've played through every gen using every starter, except gen 6 refuses to use fennekin. Funnily enough though, consistently through every gen, through the three evolutions, my favourite comes from a different starter.

7. Chespin, Braixen/Frogadier, Greninja (gen 6 is a toss up, Braixen by all rights should be my favourite in the 2nd evolutions, with it's magical girl match stick, and it's fluffiness, and it's purple shiney, but I just hate fennekin so much that it ruins it)

I'm not really a grass type person, I normally have my team learn grass moves.

Aaaaa, this is a hard one... Gen 1: Charmander Gen 2: Totodile in HGSS, Cyndaquil in GSC (Thunderpunch is useful for it) Gen 3: Torchic Gen 4: Piplup, I think Gen 4 has my least favourite starters though Gen 5: Snivy Gen 6: Chespin

Grass starters have improved over time, I think. My starter in Y was a female Chespin, I didn't even soft-reset, I just got one. And well, Chesnaught juuuust beats Greninja even though the latter has my favourite type.
