I always choose water starters no matter what gen it is. However, some of the grass starters (like Bulbasaur and Chikorita) would be considered.

Gen 1 I think I usually go with squirtlenGen 2 I go with cyndaquilnGen 3 I go with mudkipnGen 4 I go with piplupnGen 5 I go with snivy or oshawottnGen 6 I went with froakie

1st Squirtle 2nd Cyndaquill 3rd Torchic 4th Piplup 5th Snivy 6th Fennekin

I'm pretty diverse with the types but fire is still 3 out of 6.

I've only played gens 2, 3 and 6 so far.

1st - Charmander/Squirtle (I like both equally) 2nd - Chikorita 3rd - Mudkip/Torchic (I like Mudkip better, but I like Torchic's evoltions over Mudkip's) 4th - Piplup 5th - Snivy 6th - Fennekin

Gen1: Bulbasaur Gen2: Chikorita Gen3: Mudkip Gen4: Piplup Gen5: Tepig Gen6: Chespin

I really do love the grass-types too, I just find Fire-types can be hard to come by in some games, and I'm just more partial to them.

I like to think I don't have a bias in starters but I clearly don't favour water types.

the fully evolved forms are my favorites!! i really have a thing for reptilian & bird pokemon also, i haven't played x & y yet so i can't really name my favorite 6th gen starter, but i'd probably go with froakie!

I love reptilian things, so I generally choose whichever starter best fits into that category. :)

Charmander, Cyndaquil, Treecko, Chimchar, Oshawott, Chespin Fire-type Starters are almost always my first choice with Grass usually being my second. My rivals always use Water-type Starters against me, which may be why I rarely use them. XD I like the Gen 2 starters the best because they are so cute and have awesome final forms! :3

gen 1: as kid always squirtel, now bulbasaur gen 2: cyndaquil gen 3: as kid torchic, now treecko gen 4: turtwig gen 5: snivy gen 6: chespin (i also like fennekin a lot tho)

I go almost completely based on looks. I do't IV train or any of that time-consuming insanity. So:

Originally I think my first playthroughs of the main generations of games went something like this; Gen 1 - Squirtle Gen 2 - Totodile Gen 3 - Torchic (Charmander for FR/LG) Gen 4 - Turtwig (Cyndaquil for HG/SS) Gen 5 - Tepig Gen 6 - Fennekin (Torchic for OR/AS)

Lately I've had more of a thing for Fire-types, but I've always loved Pokemon that looked bulky and intimidating - Feraligatr, Torterra, Emboar are prime examples out of my starters. They also happen to actually be bulky because they've got some kind of substantial defensive stat that lets them take a hit or two.

... I seem to have an addiction to the grass starters up until gen 6. o.o But out of those starters, Chikorita's my favorite of the grass types--mainly thanks to the female one I got the very first time I started up HeartGold. ❤ Nicolette is still with me today, though... stuck in HG, since I can't transfer her over. :c And out of all of them, Fennekin's gotta be my favorite, with the way my Delphox Naegi can help me through any situation.

I dunno, I just get really attached to all of my starters. I still even remember the very first starter from the very first core game I played! (a treecko in Sapphire that I named Kalos, no joke. And this was back in 2004, way before ORAS)
