That is so fascinating. ;O So basically they're being more forgiving by letting Ollie slip by with only hurting the bad guys instead of doing more damage or even killing them. Sneaky, sneaky. xD Thanks for the info, it was a fascinating read (since I have no clue about archery at all haha)! c:
what wait,
GIVE ME: Merlyn, Thea, Ra's Al Ghul, and the League of Shadows/Assassins PLEASE NOW
I'm watching the show for the villains at this point. I hope so much they do Ra's with justice. I adore Felicity and all but Olicity is not my thing, I can't see them together together. I was cringing last week because I knew it was fan service and can't really work out (at least at this time).
Mmmmm hm. Just got to the ep where he gets to be shirtless and I was all "oh hi, more of that please."
I find AoS dull too. I couldn't bring myself to care about any of the characters, really, and I stopped watching midseason. My friend keeps trying to encourage me to watch but....mehhhh.
Oh great, spoilers. SO MUCH FOR THE SPOILERTEXT HUH. I don't know that I feel it's a retcon, I don't know the comics from jack so it's all kind of new to me, I just don't think I like BC. I vastly prefer her voice when it's camouflaged and when she isn't wearing her mask she's perma-worried-frown and it's so annoying to me. Is it wrong I'm hoping in every episode that she gets killed off?
Also not sure what to do with mid-season-two's bad guy. I mean, okay, sure why not, but...yeah, what is talking about - they dropped all these AWESOME LoA hints and now...we get some stand-in with a motivation I have a really hard time buying as legit? sigh
I want better villains. Or, you know, Captain Jack back. xD
So basically the show is equating bow skill with magic, waving their hands and saying "don't worry, don't look too close, it works if you just ignore the actual physics!" facepalm I was actually thinking about that when he graduated to a compound bow. Not knowing the details, I did wonder "well, but does he even know how to use one of those as well?" because even then I think I recognized there was a definite performance difference. Guess they're banking on the hope we won't examine that too closely. Too bad; they could build a lot of interesting plot points from that. I'm sure it would be quite a bit more difficult to try and not kill people when you're using a bow with more force.
n the last i saw of smallville was that salem witch season. n i watched the whole season , excluding for FitzSimmons and the girl in the flower dress all other characters are incredibly hammy. By the end of it i was .
Yep, that's about it. An arrow's materials are also playing into the whole thing (light or heavy arrowhead, small or large plastic feathers, arrow made from an aluminium-carbon alloy or plain carbon, ...), but those factors are mostly affecting the arrow's reach and only have a small percentage in the actual piercing force. I think, they did actually try to salvage this when Barry asked Felicity about Oliver's choice of arrows. And that Oliver could improve his bow's overall piercing force if he switched to another type of arrows. And Felicity answered Barry something like this: "Maybe the piercing force he has is enough for him." At least I saw that as an attempt to get some actual physics into the show.
I've seen him enough without his shirt in Teen Wolf, I know the feel xD
YO (season 3) SPOILERS. Spoiler tag please? xD But yes, ditto about that. ;O; Idk how I will stomach the rest of the season if it's like that. UGH. Heck no.
I hope they do Ra's Al Ghul justice as well. It will be interesting how it all leads up to him. :3
But like ... it's obvious they are going to make Laurel BC if she's BC in the comics? xD Like obvious from season one so sorry, not sorry ;p
Totally would be more interesting to see Ollie's reaction when he accidentally killed someone with his bow at the beginning. OH OOPS THE ISLAND MADE ME SHOOT TO KILL, MY BAD. xD I would love to see that internal struggle. What a cop-out for a "gritty noir" type show psh.
Gonna admit I have no clue when that happened in Smallville but I'm guessing at the beginning because I can't remember lol. xD It was interesting to see a different version of Green Arrow on Smallville in the later seasons (played by Justin Hartley). c:
That's an interesting point too, and one I know very little about. I do remember that late in season two one character gives Ollie crap about his "baby arrows" that are meant to be non-lethal somehow, but the show never goes into how that works and even squinting at the arrows I couldn't see the difference. I don't know, blunted points maybe? But then that might mean bad guys are just bruised and still perfectly able to shoot, so I'm wondering if this is turning into one of those plot holes where we're just expected to go with it on faith. I totally missed the "piercing force" line, that could be at least an attempt at an explanation and might also tie into the scene I remember. Hmmm.
Oh, he's in Teen Wolf? I think I made it through two episodes of that show before the bad acting defeated me. shameface Might have to go try it again if Mr. Shirtless is in it.
Oh that's not an actual plot point you were talking about, but speculation? Nah, I don't think it's obvious at all, especially given how much effort they've invested into establishing the current BC. After all, if I'm a show producer (esp on the CW) and I can have TWO hot ladies on the show instead of one, why not both? I could easily see where they'd overturn the comic canon as "eh, just guidelines" and do whatever they want. I would be not surprised in the least if this BC lasted forevarrrrrr. Although I really hope they pull a Joss and kill off at least one major character (not felicity plz).
I had no problem at all accepting Ollie's lethalness - we've already kind of seen him react when he's had to do that, in the flashbacks, and the reaction (to me) was underwhelming. Do not want to see him try it again. I wonder if they're not showing it because of his acting (in)ability. xD
I feel the show's pretty gritty, the part I have the most trouble with nowadays is that Ollie and BC are starting to work very closely with family friends and actual family. The Clark Kent effect is getting ridiculous. You can't tell me they can't recognize their close relative standing right in front of them, covered only with a bit of shadow and in BC's case, a dumb mask that covers pretty much nothing at all. Or alternatively why Huntress bothers wearing a mask when everyone is literally calling out her real name. WHY DO YOU NEED TO HIDE. THOSE TEENY MASKS ARE NOT INVISIBILITY CLOAKS IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY.
hand waves These are not the droids you're looking for, evidently.
Don't. The actors are awesome, the writers suck. Just don't, it's not worth it. @ Lirikai
And Colton left in Season 2
So basically just watch the first and maybe second season with the sound off? Weekend plans confirmed. thumbsup
Watch til the end of season 2. After that, run away. Just run .. ugh
/nods But it's like... why would they keep her if she doesn't become BC? Does someone steal her identity then? Makes no sense. I mean even in Smallville people were like Clark can't be with Lana, because Lois has to show up even though it felt like forever for her to show up and then they hated each other, but people were adamant it had to end up Lois and Clark. ..and they were right. Idk how far canon important as BC's identity can really change when it comes to shows like this. ;l
I think they could at least parody it or make his shock a little more drawn out. He seems a bit brain dead at times. xD Haha.
LOLOLOLOL Every time that happens I think of how comical it is. xD Reminds me of Sailor Moon. FIGHTING EVIL BY MOONLIGHT .... aaaand no one sees me because moonlight is not true light (and everyone has horrible vision clearly). xD
omg he dies in Teen Wolf?? why do you still keep watching omg
AH AH AH NO. NO HE LEFT FOR ARROW AND IN THE SHOW HE LEFT FOR "LONDON" BUT OF COURSE JEFF DAVIS HAD TO KILL ALL THE FEMALES BADASS. AH AH I'M NOT BITTER @ Starlord
I'm only watching for Stiles, Derek and Lydia. Like LITERALLY.
its that season where Dean Winchester shows up as Lana Lang's bf.
OOOOH. Well idk about Teen Wolf, but I'm guessing Arrow is infinitely better (now that it has him too).
AWWWWW. Reminds me of when both the Winchesters (right, they're bros? cause I don't want supernatural even though I want to eventually) appeared in Gilmore Girls. Ah, the wb CW family, awwww. X)
Have you binge watched Arrow yet? 8D /peer pressure
postponed atm til after Diwali :) off topic: have you watched Orphan Black?
Lmao
Arrow > Teen wolf
salutes Aye aye, captain.
That would be lovely if TV or Movies didn't do whatever they wanted with canon, but they do. In fact, they've already done it, I think. Again, I have no familiarity with the comic at all, but from what I've heard Sara never came back (and as I research, it appears she may never have existed in the comics). So they're already messing with canon just by what they've done already. Wikipedia says Canon BC was originally the mom and then Laurel. Obviously that's not happening in Arrow, so...I guess making the first BC a sister is probably not so bad. But who knows if that's ever going to actually switch over, if ever. A geekgirl can hope, though!
Why would they keep her if not going the BC route? Boobs. Doe eyes. The ability to dangle potential relationship triangle bait for viewers. Ratings. On a less cynical and more plotty note, the fact that Ollie has a close and personal friend in the DA's office I'm sure helps a lot, even if she has no seekrit identity.
you know what actually bothers me most about Arrow (and it's so purely subjective)? The fact that they turned Huntress into a psycho nutball.
When I was a child, my brother had a bunch of comics. I remember flipping through them and enjoying the Batman ones, but I loved the Batman comic that had a guest-starring Huntress. She was like a lady batman! Hood, cape, could kick butt as well as Batman, but lady! From that moment on she was my hero, no joke, and I stopped reading comics at all because I never did find anyone that I could identify with. It was all men doing men things and women doing nothing but being sexy, which was extremely alienating to me. Huntress was the only comic book character I found in those comic books who could actually kick butt that I identified with. I would KILL to see an actualized, successful, effective Huntress on TV. Or in a movie. Or anywhere. But instead, she's been made into a cautionary tale, an example of What Not To Do. I'm actually hugely disappointed in that.
....actually, along those lines, Nyssa was awesome. Can we have more of her plz?
- sorry sorry!
I read a lot of stuff online, the news articles, watched all the comic con videos and assumed everyone pretty much has an idea about the main things that are taking place in season 3. I'm all caught up on my arrow game :x
So, Wednesday needs to be like right now. I'm going stir crazy!
Yo you caught up? ;O
I understand they change canon, but if they have a character with the same name as the hero/villain counterpart, it's just plain weird to not have them be that hero/villain. It's like if you watched a show with Clark Kent in it and you were like okay I'm expecting him to be Superman because that's WHO HE IS and then someone else becomes Superman and Clark Kent... is just Clark Kent. That's just mega trolling right there. xD I'd love to see that happen though. Would be hiliarouuuuus!
Yeah, as someone who doesn't know anything else about the Huntress, I'm going to associate her with batshit crazy. :c I wish Arrow wrote female characters better. /sighs
Have you seen episode two yet? ;O
It's okay! ;O; It's just funny how everyone else posting in here is behind, so I'm trying to tread on the side of caution. xD Have you seen episode two yet? c:
my season 3 episode 2 reaction
SO glad it wasn't Felicity centric. Phew. Although I'm tired of the "oh I'm rich so I can just buy you and have you think it's charming" thing. Felicity accepting Ray's job proposal at the end was frustrating. :c I know we need drama, but I would have preferred for her to do anything but that.
Dead Sara. :c Oh the sadness. /sighs I guess Laurel better chop-chop and get into shape though if it's anything like Roy's transformation, she only needs a season, maybe season and a half?
TOMMY. He was fun to see back! :3 The thing that bothered me about Ollie's speech to Felicity in last episode was it seemed to retcon his relationship with Tommy by him saying it wasn't until her that he was able to see a human. Uh, man, Tommy flew across the world for you? Stop retconning your feels, man!
Loved loved loved seeing Thea at the end! YAY SHE'S BACK?? 8D
