- congrats! I need to write a bit more to get to that point.
- No editing! Bad! Rewrite, sure, but no deleting!
Date weekend :) Hitting the giant bookstore and a couple of great fabric stores, but beyond that just chilling out. There may or may not be a trip to the movie theater tomorrow night too~
The way we do it in NaNo is "no deleting" - if you change/rewrite something, change the previous version to white text (so you can't see it) and don't use it, but it still counts toward your word total since you wrote it this month :)
- sounds like fun. Any chance you are up for a word war? Or taking a break for this weekend?
When do you want to go? :D I have a super supportive gf and she's all for me working on my project while we're here at the hotel XD
The stuff I am editing is all older stuff though. I have saved all my "start-point" notes (new and old alike) in a Reference file and will add them back in before the end... Which will give me my original 4,353 words again, plus some...
I'll try changing the color and moving it to the bottom. Or I may just start shoving any changed text into a separate file.
It just feels weird to repeat myself while I am getting everything organized so I can get to the fun elaboration part. Is it okay to basically say the same thing three or four times?
- 15 @ :15?
- a separate file works too.
- 297, dammit, so close to 300.
Oooh, that is close! 425 for me... slowly making up for lost time.
- you're almost at halfway though! You hardly have anything to make up for :P I'm nearly 6k words behind!
I'm making up for all the time I lost traveling today. I desperately want to hit the half a day ahead! I know it's silly, but...... it's a goal.
Right. So... "Junk" file created. Gonna be hard to retrain myself to copy-and-paste before making major edits, but I will try. Anyway...
-tries to get back on track- Where was I? Anybody know? Nope? It was probably just the boring when/where/who/what/how stuff I'm including.
Don't want to work on that right now so I am going to dig around in my files and binders for a while. Gonna see I can find any inspiration for the 10 ideas I'm working on, and the 4 other ideas I may or may not be smashing together with those main 10.
- sounds complicated :P
- It's a good goal to have, I just wish I was there too OTL
I agree, that does sound complicated. I can't imagine putting serious thought and effort into ten things at once! I'd have so many characters in my head, all demanding attention... huge props for being able to keep things all separate!
Daily goal hit! With a few minutes to spare! Thank goodness for a scene that was easy to write - ugh. Unfortunately I'm sticking with the same MC for the next chapter and this one is going to be super heavy on the world building aspect. I get to design/explain an entire religious ritual! OH BOY I'M SO EXCITE FOR THIS! -_-
- sounds like a good place to stop. Congrats on hitting the halfway mark!
Thanks! On the plus side, the religion is heavily based in Shinto so I at least know where I'm coming from on it. On the minus side... EVERYTHING. lol
You're making progress! You could still definitely hit the halfway before the party if you stay up a bit longer to write and then write a bit after getting up, maybe? I'm not sure what your better writing time scenarios are (for me, it's easier to write at night than in the morning.)
- I would stay up all night and write, I seem to get my best writing done between 3am and 4am, (and by best I mean highest quantity, not quality lol) But alas, have to work tomorrow. :( Don't think I'll make it. Haven't even hit the 20k mark yet. I'll probably hit bed when I get there.
LOL It's the way I'm used to working but I don't think I could do it for NaNo if I didn't have Scrivener. Having everything in one file makes it much easier for me to jump around. Usually I hop around at a more leisurely pace. (Alien series for a few weeks, historical series for a few months, modern story for a few days, etc. etc.)
The crazy part is I have other ideas I could add into the mix (and might actually get to before time is up) but the main 10 are the most distinct concepts that I haven't put much work into yet.
I have a ton of character hanging out in my brain. I do pretty fair job at keeping the mob at bay though. Usually I just have to look over my notes and whichever main character I want will pop forward while everyone else stays out of the way. The secondary characters are not quite so cooperative. Sometimes I have work a little harder to coax them out of my consciousness.
Also, congrats on making it to the halfway point! Good luck with your next chapter!
I hope your muse finds you when you get the time to write tomorrow. You are not horribly far off the 25k so you should be proud. =)
Whatever happens, I still think you're a BAMF
I know what you mean about tons of characters. The voices in your head that beg you to tell their stories. I have a ridiculous amount of characters in my head as well :) Writers in good company.
- Haha, ok, well, better get back to work; don't want to ruin your image of me :P
- Tons of characters is often my problem, they all want me to write their stories, and then I'm like, but your story doesn't fit in! I need to write these other stories first! Gah!
