I know how that feels! I also have a couple of stories I really want to write, but I'm going to stick with NaNo for now. A bit of practice never hurts. :P Having a 'theme song' for a character or a story sounds very useful. :) My only writing ritual seems to be lighting a candle before I write. Now that it gets dark very early in the afternoon, I find that a dim room is best for concentration.

I can't believe I have written over 9,000 words already. That's almost 1/5 of the story done! :D

Hey everyone, I'm about to introduce a bunch of side characters, a group of wandering nomads/hunters who live in the forest, and I need names! I am not having luck with name generators, so I'm appealing to the nano community! Throw some names at me!

I like the idea of a candle! Not possible in my writing area, but a really rad idea. NaNo is fantastic practice just for sticking to something for a while and writing on it consistently. Also seriously, 9k!? You're amazing.

Let's shoot to stay on par (at least!) for this year! If it helps you get some words in, I'm more than happy to go head-to-head again a bit tonight. There will be distractions on my end (a friend coming over to hang out all evening), but still possible to get some writing done :3

Perfectly valid reason for vanishing :) You can do it~!

- Most of the characters don't have a lot of personality, they're just side characters that won't be in the story for too long, in fact probably 2-3 of them will die in their opening scene, and more will be injured. They are kind of nomadic wandering hunters, they mostly use bows, some use magic. The few names that I already have in the group are Proteus, Garth, and Maverik, so they don't really follow a particular naming trend, but it is a fantasy setting.

- first names will suffice. If you want to throw some last names at me as well though, they would be welcomed. :)

Okay one more question I didn't think of before ahahaha. Noticed the ones you have are male names... do you just want male names or female ones too?

- they are mostly male, but there are some women too, and also probably some kids.

I find it so interesting that Rowan was suggested twice - it's also one of the first names I was thinking of. I was also thinking Garen, Aiya, Risa, Kendrick, Jonah, Marin, Reks, Alexius... and a whole bunch more that are Japanese inspired (because my own world is more based on that, and my mind is firmly entrenched in that style of language)
