I just got home from a family trip. I did a little writing by hand while I was away, so now I need to type that up and move on.
SIGH. I've had really long school days this week... I haven't reached my word count goal since last week, I think. Yesterday I didn't write at all. :/ But I have tomorrow and Friday off, so I'm going to drink too many caffeinated drinks today and get back to writing. XD
Hi all :) I've been wanted to be more active on this thread but for the same reason my wordcount's way behind, i haven't been - the reason is a tiny, adorable, incredibly needy human being.
How are we all generally else doing? Anyone else way behind?

I'm a little over a day ahead on my word count - I wanted to be an overachiever this year because the story I'm writing is definitely going to take more than 100k to get to the end, but keeping just above par is all I'm capable of right now.
Good luck on catching up! You can do it!
-I'm quite far behind too. I'm going to try to catch up by saturday so I can go to the halfway party with confidence for once! Its not looking too hopeful, I am more than10k back from 25k right now. Like eternal I have been on vacation with family and couldn't write much the past few days. I'm writing this from the airport on my way home.
Um hi everyone wiggles
I got started late this year (I was so busy with life stuff I didn't realize the month had started until like, a week in). I only have 4.5k words right now but I'm trying to push myself to make up the lost ground and keep going.
I've been developing and cultivating the ideas, world, and plot I have for my book since I was 8 - so it's had a lot of time to ferment and flesh out in my head. I get between 30-60 pages deep every time and then just...get angry at the direction or writing style. This is my fourth rewrite and I'm really hoping that getting more involved in the NaNoWriMo community will help keep me on task and actually follow through and finish a draft without fearing its imperfections. I know NaNoWriMo is typically for new and fresh ideas, but I figured coming at it with a project I've wanted to complete for so long could be a great way to keep on task.
So yeah. Hi c: I hope everyone is having great luck with their words and inspiration. It's nice to meet you all @@
^_^ Thanks!
Looks like we're in about the same boat wordwise, then. I believe in us!
[edit] I got up to 16,673 so I'm caught up! for two days ago =P A lot better than being four days behind though.
The trick is to realize the first draft is never going to be anywhere near what you want the final product to be. No matter how cool the story is in my head, I almost always completely butcher the first draft. NaNo works for me because it doesn't give me time to really worry about the story being awful and all wrong - I just gotta get the words on the page! Hopefully that works for you, too, one way or another!

I just hit 16500 words. It's been a hard road so far xD I am a couple days behind but I am trying to get caught up. I have a few days next week that I wont be able to write so I want to get ahead. <_<
- That's about where I am too. I tried to catch up as much as I could on the plane, but planes suck, and there was a screaming kid in the row in front of me.
- Yeah! Let's both strive to be halfway at halfway!
- Ah boo on screaming kids! I have to fly next summer with my kiddos, they are a bit older (6, 7, and 9) but they've never been on a plane, and I am all kinds of nervous about how they are gonna behave xD I'll join y'all on that striving to be halfway at halfway - means I gotta buckle down and do it heh
- 6,7, and 9 shouldn't be too bad, as long as they don't fight with each other. This kid was probably about 2, they had a special safety harness for her, and she couldn't speak too many words, she mostly just screamed mommy! mommy! mommy! for like the first 20 minutes of the flight, and I forgot my nice headphones, so I was stuck with my crappy earbuds. GL! It shouldn't be too hard, 9k words in 3 days, I've been worse off.
- Oh jeez xD Poor kid. That sucks, I've forgotten headphones on long flights before and had to buy crappy ones at the airport on my layover heh
Heck yeah, 9k isn't too bad. Good luck to you too :D
Wow, I've gone from 14,631 words to 20,700 words in the last two days. So proud of myself! :D
Thank you! :) It's nice to catch up again, now I don't feel so desperate about Nano anymore. XD
- Good work! I hope to go from 16k to 22k tonight! Should be a fun adventure.
- sure, but only after I get home from work too (on subeta at work, I'm bad :P)
- Yup, it's only half of what I've already written so far! totally doable!
Yeah, I check at work too XD
I'm home now... but my gf reminded me on the way home that Warlords of Draenor came out today, so now I have brand new WoW content to play. Hnnnnggghh... NaNo! But! Warcraft! THE HARDSHIPS OF BEING A GEEK.
- well I just got off work, so you have like an hour to play WoW before I get home and start bugging people for word wars :P
