My favorite Christmas holiday was the last one I got to spend with my Granny. It was a great Christmas to be with her and all of our family together.

So I guess I will go with my most memorable Christmas...It really isn't my favorite, but honestly it is really hard to remember a lot of stuff, so this one is the only one that really stands out. Back in Aught-Eight I was deployed to Iraq, and with the holidays coming up it looked like I was going to be spending the first part of December home with my family and not Christmas. I was pretty fine with that...better something than nothing. However, as the time approached, my friend ended up needing to trade me leaves so I would be heading home 2 days before Christmas (I believe we were supposed to arrive either on Christmas or the day after). Well, I was pretty ecstatic! I loved Christmas back then, the whole season was my favorite time of the year. Fast forward to the day we ship out to head home and...the plane was delayed. The plane ended up being grounded for two whole days. I ended up spending Christmas day in a freezing cold hanger at BIOP in Baghdad. I think it was around noon when they announced our plane was finally ready. I was super thrilled, and it was totally worth the wait when we finally got home 2 days later. We ended up celebrating Christmas on the 27th, as my son was young enough that the actual day didn't make a difference and so he thought that Santa brought his mom home for Christmas. It was really sweet.

I don't really have a favorite holiday memory because my memory is badddddd. But my family always has cozy little Christmases where we just eat like appetizers basically, we don't have an actual sit-down dinner, you just go through and make a plate when you want. And we play this Secret Santa dice game where everybody brings a wrapped present and if you roll a 7 or 11 you get to take one. That's always pretty fun
my favorite holiday memory has got to be all the baking my family does every year! my mom, grandmother, and i get together and make at least 3-4 batches of sugar cookies and then spend the next two days decorating them. we make everything from french horns and snowflakes to kittens and mittens, and they're always beautiful. we also bake a lot of other stuff, like peppermint bark, fudge, puppy chow (apparently a southern US thing, it's basically chex mix coated in peanut butter, dipped in chocolate and covered in powdered sugar), even biscotti (a recipe given to us by the swedish exchange student who stayed with my family for almost a year when i was about three). it's always really fun and we have christmas movies/music going the whole time! and whenever everything's done, we get holiday trays and make plates of goodies for the firefighters/police and a bunch of family friends. they get delivered on christmas eve usually, and it's always really cute to see how they all react!

my fondest christmas memory is probably the first christmas i had after moving out of my parents' house; i was probably young and naive and had big eyes about everything and in retrospect i don't know why i have such happy memories of buying a cheap plastic tree and cheap baubles and decorations, but i really really loved that whole winter period. i was working retail in a bookstore and loved that job so much, even though christmas & new year's sales is like the most stressful time for retail tbh. i was just in a happy little bubble back then that december i guess!

My favorite holiday memory is when we got my pupper! I'd been wanting a dog since I was a little one but I could never convince my parents ;o; Finally in my last year of high school they agreed and we got an adorable chocolate lab puppy for Christmas. She's all grown up now but still the sweetest gentle giant and best friend I could ask for ❤

My best Christmas-related memory is about my grandfather. When I was a child he used to take me with him in a dark room after the Christmas Eve dinner; he used to invent stories about Santa, his elves, and his reindeers and I was completely fascinated by them. My parents put all the presents under the tree in the meantime, since I was distracted by my grandpa. Once all the gifts were under the tree, my grandfather started whispering something like 'Can you hear the bells? It's Santa's sleigh! You can't probably see his reindeers, but can you hear them?'. I was so influenced by his words, that I really felt like I heard them and started running out of the room, towards the tree, hoping to see Santa, only to find all my presents, astonished. I'm fond of this memory, because he was my favourite member of the family and I still miss him a lot. Christmas has never been the same without him. <3
<3 It was my favorite Christmas ever, tbh. A lot of the stories on the board are great!

I can absolutely see why, a memory to be cherished for sure <3 It's so nice seeing all of the lovely memories and special moments on here. Warms my heart <3

One of my favorite holiday memories is from when I was ten or so. It was my first white Christmas. I remember having to drive through the snow to get to my Aunt's house. My mom and grandma were complaining but I remember thinking that it was magical. Once we got there all of us kids went outside and spent most of the day building snow forts.
My favorite holiday memory was the last time I was able to see a Christmas tree with lights, when I was about 16. I took a mental picture of what it looked like to have my family all together, watching a Christmas movie with the Christmas lights on as our only real light source. We all had Christmas pajamas on that we had just opened up for our Christmas eve tradition. My mom and I had baked a ton Christmas treats and they were being munched on while we watched a Disney Christmas movie. It was a magical time and the memory is one I hold dear, as it was there last time any of it ever took place, and now I cannot see those kinds of lights.
I am not entirely sure how to post a gif, this will be my first real try. :D

I really really extremely want:
When my younger brother was still really small, I used to write Christmas cards to him pretending to be Santa listing off the good deeds he'd done and telling him to keep up the good job xD (we have quite the age difference). Honestly more than getting gifts, I enjoyed making Christmas magical for him, from helping write his list to Santa (and then secretly relaying it our parents) to putting out the milk and cookies. It made me appreciate all that my parents had done and still do to make the holidays magical for us.

I honestly can't come up with one specific holiday memory... but some of the most special ones would have been when I was young and my family had our christmas traditions... like making cookies with my dad and reading the night before christmas with my mom. Unfortunately we haven't really done most of our traditions since I was still pretty young but it's still a warm time of year. :) Another memory would be from a few years ago when money was really tight and some kind souls from a forum helped my family out by sending money and one person even met up with us at the store with bags full of holiday goodies and a giftcard for gas and it meant so much for my family.
Hope I'm not too late!
My birthday is on Christmas Eve and every year, my family coordinates a Birth-mas celebration for me. My favorite, by far, was the first Christmas that I can actually remember. We were living in Virginia Beach, as my mom and step-dad were enlisted in the navy and were stationed at the base there. My step-dad was deployed overseas in Desert Storm and my mom and I had been living in a cute little town home, that I can still remember very vividly to this day. After my birthday party the evening of Christmas Eve, she gave me a bath and started getting me ready for bed. She lovingly allowed me to sit next to the fire and play with some of my new toys before bed. Suddenly, I heard thumps and a loud crash outside. Scared, I asked my mom what the noises were... it must have been Santa! My mom tossed on her coat and we stepped outside to check it out. Snow! The first snow that I could remember! As we step outside, I immediately see a little crystal box lying on the ground, a bit broken from falling out of what must have been Santa's sack! Excited, I ran to pick up the box. Santa was here! I clutched the little crystal box, nearly in tears from excitement. My mom shrugged and brought me back inside, protesting that I had to go to sleep so that Santa would come back and leave the rest of my gifts. As we brush the snow from our hair, I see a form standing in the living room! For a split second, I was convinced that Santa was in the house. As I stared at the form, I realized it was more familiar. It was thinner. Taller. The figure turned and there was my step-dad, home from deployment. We both ran to greet him with a hug before settling in for the night, in anticipation of the next day. I don't really recall the morning of Christmas the next day, but I'll never forget the time Santa brought home my stepdad after months of not seeing him.
Sounds very interesting :)

So listen, this may not seem super festive to some, but one of my favorite things every year is watching the original animated version of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I love this story, and I've watched it for as long as I can remember. I love that he's just a giant ball of lonely and that a small act of kindness has such a big impact on him. My entire life has revolved around my family and the small life lessons I learned by watching how they treat people (and in turn how that taught all of us to treat people) and that's pretty well reflected in this. I grew up pretty poor, even though we didn't always realize it, because I learned from an early age to appreciate the things you have in life, to always be thankful. My parents sacrificed when we were kids to try and give us a Christmas, and there was no complaining in my house if you didn't get everything you asked for, there was genuine appreciation and love. I will never ever ever forget the things I was taught as a kid. And this movie was a part of that, it was one of the small things we did as a family (like getting a special present on Christmas Eve - another fond memory), and we still all drift to the same room when this movie is on too.

My favorite Christmas will honestly need to be this one since it's my first Christmas with my boyfriend here. We used to be distanced, but we've now been together almost 3 years and this will be the first well spend together <3 already it has been great.
Also bears and red pandas remind me of him haha.
Thanks for the events!

Ahhh a good holiday memory for me is actually a pretty funny one. My dad and I (and sometimes my brother) have this tradition of driving around ours and the near by towns to see the xmas lights on all the houses. We'll get hot chocolate and put on music in my dad's car. Now my dad has one of those cool cars that you can voice command. So he'll say like "Play Frank Sinatra" or "Play Christmas Playlist" or something, and theoretically it'll play that thing. But the damn car is deaf or something because it can NEVER understand him. It always says "Sorry, I didn't understand that" or worse, play something entirely different. So we were waiting in line for this huge house, they put on a big event every year it's crazy. And he's trying to get it to play something, though I can't remember what. And he keeps trying, and trying, and it just won't work. And eventually he just says "Play...oh you know what you're a dumbass." And miraculously, it starts up with "Playing, Dazed and Confused" And we just lost. My dad isn't really a laughing kind of guy, he'll chuckle or roll his eyes at stuff but he was LAUGHING SO HARD oh my god. There were tears in our eyes, clutching our sides, cus it was just so perfect and so stupid. And he and I don't really get along most of the time - differing political views and just generally both very abrasive people by nature, but we do it every year and it's just. Nice. So that's my favorite holiday memory I think
I wish I could remember more but it's a vague memory... When I was younger it seems like I spent the whole day out with my Grandma. Night fell and she drove me around neighborhoods and we looked at all the christmas lights on houses and the decorations. She passed away a couple years ago but I'll always remember being with her that night and enjoying the beauty of lights on a winter night.

My favorite holiday memory has to be when I went to the christmas market a few years ago with my best friend and her (then not yet) boyfriend. It was a great evening and I helped them get closer to each other that evening - at least I believe so :P We had a great time drinking hot spiced wine and enjoying the cold evening, but made them spend some alone time by feigning I've gotten sick from the wine. Watching from afar how they got closer was like watching a romantic movie with my best friend as the star :P

When I was young, my Grammy had a sun porch on the back of her house. I remember we were there for Christmas, I was probably 13 or 14, and a blizzard blew in. We sat on her sun porch, sipping hot chocolate wrapped up in fuzzy blankets and she told me about her first Christmas in America. I will never forget the happiness on her face as she remembered.
Edit: I can English, I promise.
