Is it weird that I don't like Garrus? I think I took him with me on the first collectors mission, otherwise I stuck with Mordin, Grunt, Jack, and Tali on most of my memorable runs.
But it isn't just you, whenever I tried to take him somewhere he would always die. Always. I was just sort of "You're a damn sniper, get behind cover, and hop off the damn block."

I took Garrus with me more for emotional value than for actual usefulness. I play on Casual unless I'm going for an achievement, just because I'm not the sort of person who enjoys higher difficulty unless I get something out of it, and so it never really mattered who I took with me. Generally I take whoever I think will make the funniest comments, be the best in cutscenes or, when all else fails, my Shepard's BFFs.
When I did my Insanity run of LotSB for the achievement, I took Thane with me and that seemed to work out pretty well.. I kept him with the sniper rifle and spammed his and Liara's powers at everything and it kept me (mostly) alive while I hid behind cover.
Mostly I just take Garrus with me everywhere because he's my Shep's LI and I like listening to him talk. If I were to actually build a team based on who I think would compliment my play style best, I would probably chose Thane and either Legion, Samara or Grunt.. I seemed to kick the most ass when I had them with me. :P
Ah, I play on casual as well when I'm not in a hard-core shooty-shooty mood. I just never got into Garrus as a character I guess, and I ended up not romancing anyone (at least on my main Shepard) simply because I kind of view her as a 'srs war time' type of renegade.
I usually pick based on silly pairs too, when I'm playing casual. I tend to use Jack and Grunt together a lot, since 90% of the time one of them has something ridiculous to say. I'm pretty sure Miranda and Samara are the only two I tend to leave behind.
For my final fight on insanity, I think I went with Grunt and Thane, due to them not really having a role elsewhere in the level.
I might romance someone in three, but I have a feeling Thane will die, and he's the only one I'd seriously think about going for. Maybe if they include Joker as a romance option, since he seems incapable of dying. </scramble brained response>

In the original version of the script, there was a mission where you want with Thane to rescue the hanar who were trying to formulate his cure. If you waited to long to help him, he would die-- although I don't know if that's because of his disease or because he tried to do it on his own and failed. I'm hoping this means you'll get the option to save him if you complete the mission successfully.
My main Shepard is a bleeding heart Paragon with absolutely no interest in humans who sort of took Garrus under her wing. I knew from the first game that I was going to romance him from the time he became available as a romance option. My side Shepard is a hardcore Renegade, however, who seduced Ashley and then Jack with absolutely no legitimate interest in either of them because he is a tremendous douchewad. I'm going to be romancing the male/male romance option in ME3 with him and he's going to get put in his place a little.
My side Shepard is actually based on decisions I would legitimately make, so she's about 60-40 in the paragon renegade business. She's a pretty cool bastard, who ended up romancing Jacob in the end. Side note: Why the hell does Jacob's romance scenes seem so....creepily forced?
Hah, I once made an ass-ugly broshep who was the single most disturbing looking man ever, and I made him a huge dick-wad who ended up surviving with only Invinci-Joker, Zaeed, and Mordin. I actually tried really hard to kill everyone, but NOPE. I failed at that.

If I tried to make a Shep who made the same decisions as me my gaming experience would be 99% just sitting around being indecisive.. that's why I liked my pure Paragoness. There were a couple of occasions in each game where I broke from that, of course-- in the first I bitched at Udina basically every time he spoke and did the same to Harkin, and since I play a Sole Survivor I let the fellow on the side mission who was killing the scientists involved with Akuze kill the last one and then kill himself, which was more of a character-building decision than anything. In the second I also took a few Renegade interrupts, like the two on Garrus' recruitment (shoving the taser in that batarian's spine and sniping the head off of that mech) and the one where you shoot the gas main below the rambling krogan supremacist.
My Renegade Shep's (I have two-- a broShep and a femShep, although I've only just started the femShep) are both white, blond and blue eyed, and I tried to make them as pretty as possible. All of my other Shep's aren't as conventionally attractive and span the color spectrum a bit more.
My main Shepard's pretty good lucking, since it's pretty hard to make a plain old "average" character on that game, atleast for me. It's either horribly disfigured or holy damn sex-god.
However, they're all brown-black haired and my two lady-sheps have green eyes. I've made a few that go across the spectrums too, though none too memorable.
[font=Segoe print]
My main ladyShep has like, cherry red hair and tan skin like someone who had one Caucasian parent and one Latino parent. She also has bright purple eyes and a crooked nose and her lips stick out a little too far. I <3 her.
My Paragon broShep is dark skinned and dark eyed and a super nice guy. He's a lot like Jacob except less.. strange?
Good to know I'm not the only one a little weirded out by Jacob. He's like that really nice childhood friend who grows up to be like... a knife seller or something. There's just something about him that makes him so strange to me, and especially after he went through all that crap with his Dad... /slides away quietly.
Apaprently, unless they changed the script, he turns into a mega-jerk in Three.

I like Jacob when I'm not romancing him. On the one playthrough I had where I did, I liked him significantly less. If he and my Shep are bros, though, I don't mind him as much.
They said they did change the script majorly.. so here's hoping? I do like him, I'm just not sure I'll be able to go through with his romance. I wanted to see every possible romance in the third game but his I'm kind of 'meh' about.
(On the other hand, I <3 Miranda. I can understand why a lot of people don't like her, but I like her for the same reason I liked Garrus and Ashley in the first game: she's kind of a bitch!)
I actually have no qualms with Miranda, and I find her bitch-fits make her a more realistic character. I just don't take her with me on most missions because I prefer Jacks biotics to hers.
The only romance option I really really don't like is Kaidan. I like him much more as a squadmate then a LI.
[font=Segoe print]
I <3 Kaidan. I could never successfully romance him with my main character but I did do the thing where you romance both him and Liara at the same time, and I think the way he takes you dumping him says a lot about his character. He's a sweet guy. I always felt like he maybe had a bit of a spark with Ashley if you didn't romance him that never really went anywhere because one of them dies, obviously.
I think Miranda is probably my favorite human squadmate, character wise (Jack and Zaeed are probably tied for usefulness), and she's my favorite broShep romance because I think it's so adorably cheesy that she's the first thing you see after waking up from death and then the two of you end up together. I'm a sucker for cheese like that,.
Oof, I do love his character design, he's just a pretty dorky romance option. I ended up letting him die on my side-game in favor of Ashley, though I admittedly like him more. I too always kind of felt him and Ashley made a better pair then Shepard romancing either of them.
Jack is probably mine, just because I love over-the-top badassery, and when you first meet her and she tears apart the facility...well. Cue insta-character enjoyment. And I'm a sucker for cheesy junk like that too.
Also, I never used Kasumi, so I'm judging from face value only, but she seems pretty neat too. I still enjoy Zaeed, even if he's a huge ass, I see him as sort of an Earthborn-Renegade-Sheps father figure.
Edit: Holy Crap I seem so scatterbrained here, I apologize, hah.
[font=Segoe print]
I wish they had kept the option of romancing any of the three potential romance options regardless of gender in the first game. I would love to pit Kaidan against the new m/m romance option in fighting for Sheploo's affections in ME3. (In all honesty I am just terrified to play this game, I am so emotionally invested in the series and I'm horrified of screwing up majorly and killing off a bunch of characters I have grown far too attached too-- imagining people fighting over Shep romantically while in the middle of an all-out war amuses me)
I adore Kasumi.. the cutscene at the end of her loyalty mission was unbelievably touching and always made me think that she and Samara would get along well. But I think Miranda is still my favorite, just because a) accent, b) I love her character development and c) seeing her verbally flipping off The Illusive Man in the last mission will never not be incredibly satisfying.
Speaking of TIM.. shudders Not excited to see Cerberus on the Reapers' side. :(
I remember all the controversy behind them removing it practically last minute. It is a little depressing. I'd never personally pine for it, just out of personal involvement with the characters, but I see why people want it so bad.
Holy crap TIM. I'm looking forward to shooting him in the head. And speaking of shooting things and dying, I'm really hoping Mass Effect 3's ending isn't one of those "It's either you or your squad, Shepard" type of endings...
[font=Segoe print]
I'm just happy we're finally getting a m/m love interest, personally.
I hope it isn't one of those situations too, but if it comes down to it I'll save my squad every time.
Same, infiltrator was fun during ME2, once you get the widow. especially during that arrival achievement for being undetected. every time I join a random game during the demo though, people like to kill steal with that viper x.x
Otherwise I pretty much went with a sentinel just to have the half bio/tech for single player.
i've played infiltrator since my first run through of ME1 (still playing with that same imported shep, too) but after trying to use the sniper in the multiplayer demo...well, i'll just say i'm glad you can use pretty much any weapon for that, because neither of the maps released so far seem very sniper friendly...any time i'm trying to snipe, i always get ambushed by a cerberus guardian or something .-. now i usually just use the assault rifle and either pistol or submachine gun :P also, is anyone hoping for a chance to take on miranda or jacob? :P
