[SPOILERS AHEAD for anyone who hasn't played the ME3 demo]

Did anyone else try the Mass Effect 3 demo yesterday? (Or before that, if they were invited into the demo early?) I'd like to hear some initial thoughts about it. :3

(I haven't played the multiplayer demo yet-- don't own Battlefield 3, so. I still have to wait until the 17th. >.> )

I really enjoyed the demo-- I realize I'll just be playing the exact same thing in twenty-some days, but I'm just so excited for this game that I didn't have the self restraint to wait the three weeks. The first mission gave me chills; the second made me unbelievably happy, specifically seeing Wrex, Liara and Garrus interact and then seeing the female krogan be a total badass at the end.

The female Krogan is everything I ever dreamed of.

Seriously. Played the demo, and replayed it, at least 6 times now. All of my feelings. Though I must say, totally looking forward to Wrex coming back. Less then a month, and then subeta won't see me for about three weeks.

I should go.

As much as I adore how much of a badass the female krogan turned out to be (when I was terrified that any and all female aliens that weren't asari might turn into incapable wallflowers, especially after seeing the preview of that particular mission at the original gameplay demo), my favorite part of the scene was Mordin offering to help her down. In ME2 I forced Mordin to like krogan; I got mad at him whenever he spoke good about the genophage (my own personal opinion aside about the matter, my bleeding heart Paragon Shepard was appalled by it), made him a part of Grunt's krant and made him keep Maelon's research for the good of the krogan. Seeing him offer to help her out of the pod with that genuine little smile was terribly rewarding; my tough love seemed to have paid off.

I'm getting the game on release day, obviously (I preordered the Collector's Edition), and it just so happens that six days after release day is the day my March Break starts and I'm going to house sit for someone for a little over a week. It's just going to be me and ME3 that whole time.. provided I don't beat the game by then. (I sort of blazed through the first and second in a matter of days)

I loved the demo, bit disappointed have to wait 2 days for multiplayer, and I need a new controller unfortunately so I died when it rolled me out of cover.(played on insanity) Seemed just like ME2 graphic wise, but I liked how you were able to upgrade weapons and pick them up too! also, the options on how to play is something that should appeal to all range of players(I prefer the roleplay traditional style)

It would be nice if they could go back and update ME someday.:) Wish the demo would allow you to unlock something though.

I own Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, so not unlocking anything via the demo was not a problem for me. :3 I got some stuff for that game from it, which was nice.

Played it on PC and PS3. Wasn't impressed with the console version but the PC was alright. Too short to really make much of it - didn't have enough player input, in my opinion. I guess they do wanna keep a tight lid on choices and story though.

Female krogan was awesome. Wrex'll have fun with that one. Mordin's new voice is good - couldn't really tell they got a different voice actor.

I like the combat upgrade. Lookin' forward to trying out multiplayer later on this week. Curious as to how that's going to work out. They were pretty mum on the subject of playable characters. Do we get to customize them? Or just their stats? What the hell's going on there?

I've heard varying accounts about the mysteries of multiplayer from a) articles online and b) friends who have the Battlefield 3 online pass, which let you get into multiplayer on the day of the demo's release.. not so sure I trust either source, really. :P I suppose we'll just have to wait and see on Friday.

I know you can pick either gender when it comes to humans, and I think that has an effect on the class you can pick? I hope you get to play as female salarians/turians/etc.

Yeah, I've read about the different species getting different classes. Which I'm fine with. Just trying to figure out if everyone that's the same species is going to be running around with the same colors/costumes. Might be a problem if you're not looking at player names.

I hear armor is customizable?

EDIT: It was just confirmed for me by a close, trustworthy friend who has played the multiplayer demo because he owns Battlefield 3 that armor can be customized.

Have you got a source for that? I've gone across the BSN forums, different gaming sites, and a gaming informer. No luck.

Just a person I know who has played the multiplayer demo, last night in fact. Also, logic? I mean, as much as Bioware tends to go for the 'make something and fix it later' method, if everyone is running around with the same characters (as only the basic characters are available from the very beginning), it would be much too confusing to play.

EDIT: I read that over again and realized it sounded a little condescending-- I didn't mean it like that. I was talking about logic on Bioware's part, not yours.

It's fine, not one to take offense even if you were. It's the internet. I also didn't see the edit before I posted, which cleared that up.

The few times Bioware's done multiplayer, you've been able to customize characters. Was just curious here since it is something completely new for Mass Effect.

Your friend's confirmed armor customization and I'm guessing weapon customization's there too. Anything on the character models you're going to be playing as? With something as massive as that, I'm guessing they're going to be the same or helmets for humans while other species look alike.

I just asked him and he says that the humans are wearing helmets while the other species use stock models.

There is a video or two on the mass effect website that, if you pay close attention to, tells you races, classes, armor/weapon customization... It is a little hard to pick out the information though...

Ahaha, don't worry, I'm sure he's very happy about having gotten to play the multiplayer demo before me and asking questions would just fuel that..

I'm actually really excited to see what role the Rachni Queen will play in ME3 =P What the effects of saving or killing her will be.
