What would you do if someone contacted you after you bought a miss-priced item?

A clearly miss-priced item, with a digit left off at the end. It has happened to me several times and I always feel the guilt of giving it back when they ask. There are times when the person is really upset about making the mistake and losing the sP, then there are the rude ones who seem to be blaming you. A few of the people I returned the item to reward me with something else aswell as the sP that I paid for the item.

But what annoys me is that I bought the item(s) fair and square, it was a mistake in the pricing, but it was also a simple sell and buy and I get annoyed in having to return what is a great deal, I know I havent lost anything, but it still is annoying.

As you can probably guess it happened to me recently (Why I am complaining) and I gave the item back. What are other people's views on this? Would you give the item back? I really wanted to keep the item, but then I think about if it was me on the other end.

Fortunately for me, I actually check several times that I have priced it right and even check in the shop search and I wouldnt expect the item to be given back to me if I did make a mistake, I would just get over it, sure I would be annoyed with it, but I could never ask for a item back.

It is up to the seller to check prices. As much as it sucks, it should just be seen as a lesson. A seller should never contact the person to get it back.

i have made the mistake of mispricing an item however as it was my mistake i would not ask for the item or points back. They, who ever got the item, got lucky that day:)

I'd give it back if the person asks politely. If they're blaming you, you should tell them to calm down or stfu.

I give it back if the seller asks. I still feel guilty catching snipes like that, but my policy is to return it if they ask nicely. The only time I didn't was when I got this freaking 3 paragraph long essay yelling at me about it, before I had even replied or anything.

I know it's fair and square, but I dunno, it's just common courtesy I think. I know lots of us would never have the balls (i.e. ME) to actually be the one to smail someone and ask for a return, but I'd still be very pleased if someone did the same for me had I asked.

I just don't like ripping people off when it's an obvious mistake and there's an easy solution. I've done the same kind of return when I adopted a pet that was being transfered, and once when I had mistyped something on a trade and the other person accepted (minus one 0). Both totally legit transfers, but I guess I just care more about the feelings on the other side than the profit for me.

I usually give it back unless they're rude. If they demand that I give it back because it was their mistake and yell at me because it's not fair to them, then I ignore them.

I agree.

But when I was new, I had some high wizard token I believe, and mispriced it. I asked the user back for it, and she gave it back and told me to not let it happen again because people aren't usually that nice.

And ever since then I double check my prices :) It's a good mistake to learn from. I wouldn't give the item back if the person didn't ask, or if they didn't ask nicely. Or if they seemed to not need the money :P

It really depends. If I'm in a sour mood, chances are less likely I'll give it back versus a good mood. I also go by how they ask me for the item back. I've gotten people who are rude and crude asking for it back- no dice.

I've mispriced items before. I don't ask for them back. Once you sell it, it's gone. Deal with it and move on. Contacting the buyer to give it back to you just seems lame & you have no right to that item as soon as you sell it.

Thanks for the replies, I will give back if they ask nicely, but dont like doing so, it's a item I want for myself and I got it cheap.

But I dont get how people can ask for something back that they made a mistake with, it was bought by someone, it isnt theirs anymore.

If they contact me and aren't rude asking for it back, I'll hand it over.

It's happened to me once but the seller didn't contact me, so I kept the item.

I always double (triple) check my prices before I confirm them to prevent mistakes like this from happening, but if they ever did I don't think I'd ask for the item back. You have to learn from your mistakes, etc.

If the seller contacted me and was terribly upset and asked for it back, I would give it back. But if they were rude, I wouldn't. I mean, clearly they made a mistake, but that isn't your fault you just got the item they screwed up on. Never done it, but I have caught a good thing every now and then like a 300k book for like 300. Never got contacted so I never thought anything of it.

I always check my prices too.

If it's an obvious mistake, like leaving off a 0, I always send the item back to the seller with a note explaining what happened. I have had people contact me because a person undercut drastically and they used their autopricer without checking. As long as they are polite I will happily return the item.

I however, will never ask. I feel rather rude doing so. Whatever the reason for the mistake, it was my fault and they may need the item more than I need the sp.

I think saying 'it's their problem' is obviously much easier (and more fun xD), but I could never keep the item knowing someone knew I was being unfair and mean to them, possibly even hating me :S

I don't mind the 'unfairness', as people would call it, since I do think it's fair- mistakes aren't illegal as far as I know, but I guess the guilt of it and knowing the other person knows I did it would make the item feel tainted xD

But to some extent, of course.. 50mil item? No way, screw the seller xD

I feel the same way. I would never ask for something back because, yeah it would be my fault, and they bought it fair and square.

So if I buy something fair and square well..then I do! Although, if it is a really noticeable mistake and the person happens to ask for it back nicely I don't think I would have a big problem giving it back, I'd feel bad.. XD. That's just me though.

It all depends on how they ask for the item. If they're nice and polite, then I have no problem sending it back. However, if they demand that I return it THIS INSTANT, I'll throw a few curse words at them, laugh and go brag about my snag on the forums. :3

I check my prices about six times before hitting the 'Enter' button and have yet to misprice something. Looks like my OCD finally came in handy.

lol That's the same as me, I check so many times and then shop search it to make sure and check that several times. OCD is a pain in real life, but on here it comes in handy :P

I just bought a really low priced (worth millions) item on purpose, seeing the person prices items at a going rate, so it was clearly a mispricing. So I bought it, contacted them, got the oh, crap, well, I've learned my lesson and sent the item back. Got a reward that was more then I paid for the item and a cool friend. I do this on a regular bases, no matter what. No one asked me to do it, so it is my choice to give it back, even if the person doesn't pay me back, or they're even rude. I consider that they gained their item back, but really lost something more precious. Or never had it to begin with, and that's their lost too.

Also, once I found a chibi potion in donations, so luckily I grabbed it and send it back. They actually meant to drop it there, but I never got it the second time. Didn't care really, my reward was being honest and helping.

So y'all should know you're safe with me ;) :D

...DAMN WILL BE GIVEN. PLEASE HOLD YOUR BREATH TILL FURTHER NOTICE!

There's a few times I've found a mispriced item, and I'll send it back. The funny thing is, I'm never contacted with a 'thanks' of any kind, so I figure that I should have just kept the item.

Came across a mispriced (or extremely undercut) Book of Demons V, and I snagged it. Didn't give it back, nor did I hear anything from the seller, so whatever. Might have just been a quick sale thing.

No need to return those items. They made the mistake so it's their own fault.

I also miss-priced some items, but I never asked the person to give it back to me since it was my own mistake. head desk and life goes on.

This might sound cruel and mean, but actually you can't learn without making mistakes.
