Undercutters are those who will take a high priced item, and lower it so much that theirs get bought up right away, and those who autoprice actually lose profit because of that one persons low price. If 100 people autoprice just as the undercutter prices a high end item ridiculously low, then those 100 people lose a profit.

[edit] I used to do a lot of RS'ing, but with inflation, undercutters (and not always mass amounts of 1 item), I don't buy/sell a lot anymore, it's just to hard to keep up on prices.

Er, had you intended for your blurb about undercutting be edited into the first post? If so, the undercutting you're describing isn't directly related to the topic of sp inflation. o.0

For example, more Saggi WSQs will not make it easier to buy the things you really want, because while you have more sp, the cost of those items will go up, too.

I just would like say, after Saggi's WSQ (Apr. 13), my profit from him went from 1.5m to 500 to 750k daily (even after almost one month. Whew). LOL. I did manage to earn 3.6M for each weekend day though... but in the long run, it's not profitable to have Saggi WSQ too often. XD

This was a very good read. I already knew about inflation but this really does explain it to those who might not quite understand it.

Sure this does explain basic economic concepts but I still don't see how the Subeta Staff plans to realistically lower the amount of sP on the site without making this market or that one crash.

"There is a total of 886,848,444,535 sP" on the global market as of now. Do you perhaps have February's stats of this year? I'm curious to see if the economy here has been improving or worsening.

I'm willing to learn more about Subeta's economy, since this in turn helps me understand the real world's economy better. My brain just works weird. xD

I don't keep track so I have no idea ): It would be a good idea to keep track though! (I bet Keith does!) I'd volunteer but I'd probably forget after a while OTL

I can think of a simple example I experienced due to inflation.

There is an item on my wishlist. It was listed at roughly 5mil a while back. We had a Saggi Weekend Quest, and I earned 5mil to buy it. But when I went to buy it, it was sold out of all user shops! That's because now all the other users had the ability to buy this item. I've been watching that item creep back into shops. At first it was up around 40mil, now it's down to about 14mil. I'm waiting for it to go down to 5mil or so again.

Now, I love Saggi Weekend Quests as much as the next person. But those definitely are the source of great inflation. I really don't want to see those vanish entirely; the weekend quests actually motivates me to go questing when I otherwise feel burned out. But I would like to see -all- the quests in the weekend quest rotation. That might help with some of the inflation because frankly, some quests just aren't worth doing. I can't ever remember seeing Sarah, Mori and Nori, or Toy Quests being weekend quests, for example.

Please, please don't ping me. Please.

There is a total of 887,200,875,434 sP It's on the Subeta Stats Page. You can actually sit there and refresh the page and watch it change over and over. You should add the total as a post every month so this topic doesn't go inactive. I think it should be stickied myself.

yep! though, that sounds like a sbq item. was it a restockable item? another factor in pushing prices up is that the rate of restocks have decreased.

yep, I know. I also know that I won't remember to check/update every month xD this board is actually linked in the GD sticky already :)

It's in one of the stickies, but I think it deserves to be a sticky of it's own. 😊

You could start keeping track on random dates and posting it in the OP. That would be interesting too.

This thread is basically what I'm thinking when people complain about the earning caps on other sites, like Neopets. Earning caps exist to prevent inflation, although the issue over there is that the items that are in demand are too scarce.

I can try and keep track of it! At the end of each month, I'll record the stats and see if there's any changes. ^^ I have no life so this isn't much of a bother! Quite fun actually! Granted, it may or may not be as accurate, since the stats page updates every half hour and I generally log off for the night around 10 pm at the latest. Two hours shouldn't make much difference, but who knows. xD

There are no more individualized stickies anymore, sadly, but having it in the Useful Threads sticky gives it the same privileges - no necro date or anything. :)

I'd be really interested to see that, actually! You can update one post and have it linked to on the first post of the thread, maybe.

I wish I knew how to program a script to check the About Subeta page every week and then turn that data into a graph! Alas.

EDIT: plz see the first post for an awesome graph and link to the spreadsheet where y'all can edit with new data points whenever you like. Subeta nerds, unite!

pinging you because I know you're a Subeta nerd, too

If I had the time on my hands, I'd look into automating this, it shouldn't be impossibly difficult.

I'd love to see some past data though, for comparsion purposes, - Get on that. (I'll see what I can find when I get home from work, I have a few idea of how to find some -relatively- acturate numbes....maybe)
