i second this. :D finding out the fate of the captain and the survival of the entire unicorn species? i wanted to know that. even if you only send the next two messages, or heck, even just this most recent one it's still awesome. :D thank you for continuing, however far you choose to. :) i know some of the frustration in seeing something you put that much effort into derailed.
and i'm going to go run around the ice fields again for no reason other than it feels plot appropriate, bringing the scarf with me. cool to get a new person too. :) was wondering how things would go if the captain was ambushed with communication and the plot.
the captain seemed one tough and dedicated guy. if anyone could survive what happened to him i'm sure he will.
i'll help! just let me know how. :) i have a glacier rreign if that's any use. i'd expect he could search longer and in worse conditions than the average pet.

Hi! I hope I'm not bothering you but I found your contact information on a paper on Captain Evergrove's desk. From his notes it sounds like you was helping him so I hope you can help me too.
The day before last the Captain left our temporary base alone. He said he was only going to the gift wrapping center to send some souvenirs to his mom but he never came back! And the elf that works there said he never saw him... Luckily it hadn't snowed in a couple of days so we found his boot prints in the snow. Don't tell him because he's sensitive about them but he has pretty big feet so they're easy to find! A few other members of the squadron and I followed his trail into the polar ice fields.
What we found was really scary! There were at least a half a dozen other pairs of footprints and signs that there was a pretty bad struggle. And there was something else too. There were marks in the snow that I didn't recognize. I'm not sure what might have made them but it was big. We also found clumps of ashes here and there and a few charred pieces of fabric that looked a lot like our uniform jackets...
We couldn't follow any further because there was a pretty bad blizzard that was whipping up. I didn't want to give up but some of the older members dragged me away. They seem to have given up hope, but I haven't! The Captain is a really strong guy, I just know he's okay. But he might be lost in the ice fields or freezing. I'm on strict guard duty right now so I can't look for him myself... but maybe if you happen to be in the neighborhood of the Arctic Frost and you happen to find him... maybe you could give him my scarf? Because if he's missing his jacket he's probably cold. I know it's just a cheap knockoff scarf and the Captain probably won't like it but it's nice and warm and that's what counts!
I really hope I find him soon.

Message Hey! It' me again, Sam. The Captain is still missing and I'm getting really worried. A few of the guys in the Squadron are acting really weird too, shady even. They're new recruits. Like even newer then me. Vice Captain Evelyn told me to watch what I said to anyone so I don't think she trusts that group either... And then a bunch of people have been spotting weird shadows moving around against the clouds... big shadows. Maybe this has something to do with the weird tracks in the snow?
I've already been back to investigate the ambush scene but the fresh snow from the blizzard covered everything up... well except for a scale. Which kind of confirms my suspicion about the shadow in the sky and the ashes... It doesn't look good. I mean clearly the scale probably was left there after the storm... which means the thing is probably hunting still for Captain Evergrove. So he has to be out there, just hiding. I also found something else.. half buried in the snow. It's a Ji-Meneb dictionary. On the inside of the cover there was a hand written note. Most of it was blurred from getting wet but I managed to make out the words 'don't worry' and then 'agents of' a little later on.
I think this is a message from Horace! He's originally from Meneb himself and it's really hard to tell but I think this is handwriting too. I'm going to send the book and the scale to you for safe keeping, I don't really wanna get caught with them myself, just in case.

Sounds like a dragon? I was about to say, a giant flying lizard but that's a dragon isn't it? XD Be careful around those new recruits! And don't feel bad about having a "plain" name. lol Sometimes those who's names are easier to remember are the "plain" ones. :D
